Red, purple, black, white, and blue candles - short wick, quick burning. Silk rope 3" in length, some incense and various herbs. This was the only store in the mall that always kept stock on typical spell ingredients. Brandy's thick black hair shielded her face, and her distraught look when she overheard a couple of girls talking about their coven. Brandy was a solo practitioner, not by choice - but she didn't have much choice in life did she?
The only thing she chose was to support them. It was quite unusual, at least from what others told her. Witches were dangerous to vampires, some considered themselves more powerful and some were on the side of the fellowship. She sympathized with them, it took a lot of guts to come out. In all honesty, Brandy loved this world - she just didn't love being excluded from it.
Gathering her materials she placed them on the counter, the salesgirl was busy talking on her cellphone so Brandy turned her caramel-hued eyes to the store window. A couple of vampires walked past, she recognized them as vampires right away. The way they walked and the way they carried themselves, how could people not find them beautiful?
"54.50"
Unlike Brandy, the salesgirl looked disgusted, scoffing toward the window as she mumbled underneath her breath about hoping they kept on walking. Brandy paid the girl, and gathered up her bag in her arm.
"I'm sure they feel the same way about you."
Brandy knew the girl flipped her off, which was just as well - it didn't bother her in the slightest, after all - it was just a finger.

While this place wasn't officially Bon Temps own little magic shop, it was the closest thing that they would probably ever get in a town as religious as this. But it sufficed for Kyle, everything else he needed he could order online. He almost laughed at the thought. The presence of an internet connection seemed like the future coming back to this old time looking town. The place that time forgot.
He wasn't looking for any elements to perform any spellcasting, just browsing today really. He was bored, so he came her. Maybe there would be a book or two that would catch his eye. Hmm, or maybe he should get a new book of shadows? His current one was practically full anyway... Yeah, let's do that.
IT was easy to find the section that sold the 'Journals'. To everyone else thats basically what they would be - blank books to write in. But to practitioners of the dark arts they were called Books Of Shadows. He found a rather nice black one that caught his attention more than the rest, so he grabbed it and took it to purchase.
He had gotten in line behind someone who was either going to be doin a lot of casting, or was just really into candles and stuff. How could she even carry all that?! Since he was taller than her he also had a good view of the cashier, and he too saw the look that passed over her face. A flick of his own gaze in that direction told him what was the cause of that look - vampires.
I'm sure they feel the same way about you. Kyle ws happy that someone else stood up for them, he was about to, but he was happy that he wasn't the only one. "I also wouldn't let them see you being so biggoted. You never know what you might run into in a dark alley..." He trailed of significantly.

"I also wouldn't let them see you being so biggoted. You never know what you might run into in a dark alley..."
Brandy had made it almost out the door when she heard the male voice trail behind her. She stopped, turned around, and glanced at him when he paid for his book. The clerk, as expected, just rolled her eyes and went back to filing her nails and texting on her cell phone.
Brandy left the store, but waited outside for Kyle to exit. It was fair, wasn't it? He surprised her, so she was going to surprise him.
"I was beginning to think I was the only witch that sympathized with the vampires.."
She didn't know if sympathized was the right word to use, but she used it anyway.
"I understand though, why the general witch population hate vampires. We are essentially only food after all. We may have special abilities but we are still human and that fear is why you have attitudes like that girl in there. I'm BB."
She tried to offer her hand to him, but both of her hands were pretty full at the moment.

Once he had, silently, paid for his purchase he left the store as quick as possible. The tension between him and the cashier was now almost palpable. He a familiar voice speak just as he was exiting the shop and followed it to it's source. The other woman from the shop was talking to him...ok.
"Well, in my experience vampires have been nice to me. I've only met like two or three, but none of them have tried to eat me. In fact, one was intrigued by my witch-ness. I've had to live against biggotry, so I know how unpleasant it is. Oh, and I'm Kyle" Only fair he gives his name also, and he gave it with a smile.

Brandy smiled, it was rare to find someone that thought the way she did. The only difference was, well, Brandy had never actually been one on one with a vampire yet. Maybe that was why she was so shunned by her coven that knew that little fact..
She was planning on changing that though, tonight, when she took her solo trip to Fangastia.
"Your a practicing witch, right? What level are you?"
Brandy had always been curious about that, she knew some witches that had made it to level 3 - rare to see a witch past that level though, she wasn't even sure if she could handle that kind of power.

Your a practicing witch, right? What level are you? Kyle raised a confused eyebrow, unsure of what BB was talking about. In all the years his grandmother had been tutoring him in the Arts, some call them dark arts, but they were wrong in that assumption. True magic is neither black nor white, it is both because nature is both. But in all the years he had been taught by his grandmother she had never mentioned anything about 'levels'?
"Ahm, I'm not sure what you mean by 'levels. I've been practicing for about six/seven years now, but I'm not sure what 'level' I would be at. Could you explain them to me?"

"Well, it is said that there are different levels of witchcraft. The higher the level you are, the more powerful your magic is and the more spells you can do. I'm a level one currently, but I'm close to a level two. You could say I'm... in my own path of self discovery."
Meaning, she abandoned her coven and her parents. She wasn't about to tell him that, at least not yet.
"It doesn't matter how long you have been practicing magic, some people have the power to go further and others don't. A level one can do spells to create inner peace, while a level say.. three.. can manipulate people's muscles to make them fall over."

Kyle was lost. How the hell was he supposed to give this girl an accurate enough answer when the dimensions of each level were so...vague? Manipulating someone muscles could be considered moderate or higher level magic, depending on how it's done. To make someone fall over all you would have to do is either cramp it, or tighten it. That's not that hard to do. But you could also mentally command them to do what you will. That requires more power, strength, and concentration.
"Ahm, well, I'm not really sure what level I would be." He shrugged, but telling the truth. "If you wanna explain each level in more depth I could maybe give you an estimation, but right now I'm lost" He gave her a half smile.

"Really? I have to be honest with you, so am I. That is as much as I know about it. I haven't really studied the levels - I just told you exactly what was told to me"
She had to admit, she never thought to ask questions about it. She tended to take everything at face value - at least when it came to witchcraft.

Kyle gave what could only be described as a helpless shrug. "I really don't know what mine would be. Maybe I'll ask my gran about it, she's the one who's taught me, basically, everything I know" Then an idea hit him, and he smiled. "Hey, we should start a coven or something. There could be more witches in Bon Temps with noone to talk to or something. A coven would be a good thing"

"Mentor's are really nice to have"
She supposed she could of called her parents mentors, if not very good ones though..
""Hey, we should start a coven or something. There could be more witches in Bon Temps with noone to talk to or something. A coven would be a good thing"
"Can just two people be a coven? I don't know anyone else here yet. We could, it sounds interesting. I don't have a stable home or anything quite yet, and my magic skill is constantly growing. But, yeah, that's a good idea."

"Well, you're the first witch I've met, apart from myself. I think it'll be good to be around another person like myself, you know? Different perspective and stuff. We can learn from each other." He suggested, shuffling his feet a little. He was a bit nervous - it wasn't every day he had this conversation.
(OOC - sorry for the crap post )

"Yeah, I would like that. You seem more advanced than me and I could always use a mentor. How about we exchange cell phone numbers and I meet up with you at another time?"
Brandy had to admit, she was excited - it wasn't every day you ran into someone that was like you. Plus, she could use a male friend. Girls were good friends, but sometimes she needed "guy" friend time. Quickly she took out her cell phone, ready to input his number into it.
"How about we meet for coffee in a couple of days? we have to plan when we want to get together and all that jazz."

"Sure" He said, nodding his head in agreement. He rhymed off his number slowly, making sure BB put in in right, then he asked her for her own number. "I'll probably be free anytime, so whenever is good for me. If you want there is a good bar, Merlottes, if you want. Or if you'd rather we could have coffee in a quiter place, I'm really not bothered" He shrugged.
(OOC - sorry, this post is really really bad )

"Merlotte's? Oh, sure. I was planning on checking that place out tonight anyway to see how the food is."
As she looked at Kyle, she wondered if she should bring anything for their little.. meeting, as one would call it.
"What should I bring, if anything? It probably isn't a good idea to practice magic in the bar but we certainly could talk about it."
