Anouk nodded at his words, he really did love this girl. It was almost painful to hear him talk about love, it made her sick. Anouk tried love, many times, but it always ended bad. Mainly because she refused to turn her lovers out of fear her creations would turn on her, and also she wasn't ready to make another vampire, to keep under her wing. Seeing as she was on an advice roll, she offered another piece, short and sweet. "For immortals like us, don't fall in love. And you've already hit rock bottom. You're bleeding all over the floor for this girl who left you, but is it truly love when you force someone into it? Just...try talking to her, and leave the whips and torture out of it, unless you're into that sort of thing. I did have the pleasure of meeting the Marquis de Sade, he actually was a vampire, was turned a little after he wrote Justine." Ah, more fond memories of her immortality. But she was alone for all of that minus her maker, they led a quiet, simple life. Then she was alone, and that's how she often preffered it unless her time was spent with someone she truly could 'love.' But what was love for a vampire? Can a heart still break after it's stopped beating? Those were questions Anouk couldn't answer, but always yearned for the answers. All she could do was feed, slumber and hope for something humans called love. "Have you ever loved another like this girl?"

Talking? To Brandy? He was angry with her. She made him worry sick about her, made him give up his power and he wouldn't be a vampire if it wasn't for her. Darkness was inside him, even if Anouk's words had made sense he wasn't about to accept them on a whim and be all 'hey Brandy, let's talk' about it.
No. And now who was she talking about? An author? He grumbled underneath his .. lack of breath.. and slouched his shoulders to let her know he was disinterested in the thought of making 'buddy - buddy' with his woman.
Yes, Brandy was his. If anyone had made a move on her while she was -
His fangs had extended, and he heard a crumbling beneath his grip. In his flash anger the glass underneath him had shattered into pieces and had caused the remaining of his drink to pour onto the counter. He could see his reflection in the sticky liquid and the bartender gave him a look as he wiped it up - but poured Derek another.
Have you ever loved another like this girl?"
The words echoed in his mind as he reached for the damp cloth the bartender handed him so that he could pick out the glass shards from his hand. Derek stared amused as his wounds almost healed instantly with each shard removed.
"No. I have never met anyone like her.Have you heard that story of Persephone, the Greek goddess of the underworld? Hades was so intrigued by her beauty that he insisted she come to the underworld with him to be his bride. A story of the darkness seeking the light. How could I possibly just give that up? I won't. Not without a fight."

The snafu of him breaking the glass only attributed to her opinion that he was a volatile, young vampire that needed guidance. Maybe Anouk would give this hard ass with a crush a chance. Anouk finished off her drink and ordered another, placing an elbow on the table, getting a little more comfortable. "I have heard of it, quite depressing." She felt bad for the schmuck, maybe she'd help him find this Brandy girl, but she wanted to make sure he had good intentions. "I'm known for having a rather, peculiar and sensitive nose. Maybe I could be a bloodhound for you and help you find this girl?"

"I have heard of it, quite depressing."
"Depressing? I don't think so. It's a love story. That someone as lonely and as dark as Hades could find love. Persephone agreed to go to the underworld and he made her his queen. It was her mother who was more distraught about it than anything. But nonetheless, it is a love story.
The wounds were gone, and now as he took his new drink there wasn't any evidence that he had even broken the glass in the first place. This vampire thing wasn't a bad thing after all.
"I'm known for having a rather, peculiar and sensitive nose. Maybe I could be a bloodhound for you and help you find this girl?"
"Really? I would appreciate it. I can.. well, I can sense she has been here but the smell is very very faint. To pinpoint it back to where she came from, I can't do that because the trail fades. So I would just be winging it. You would be much quicker"
He was quickly beginning to like this woman, if things were different and he wasn't obsessed with who he was with.. than maybe..
.. he would be trying his earnest to pick her up.

Hm, maybe the version she's heard was different. None the less, she was enjoying her time with Derek, it wasn't so bad afterall. He was scorned and hurt, and Anouk knew how that felt many times. When she caught Pierre in bed with his assistant Gustov in Florence, or when Vianne said goodbye to be a nurse in WWII, kissing their life together goodbye. Yes, she was hurt many times, and she felt angry, much like Derek did now. She nodded to him, trying to pick something up, but it didn't work. Anouk needed something of Brandys to sniff her out.
"Do you have an item of Brandy's I can smell?

"Do you have an item of Brandy's I can smell?
Actually, Derek had. He had a very special item of Brandy's that hadn't left his neck since she had given it to him over a year ago. He didn't know if she could pick up her scent, but he was sure she probably could...
.. the necklace had Brandy's essence. Another reason why he couldn't get her out of his mind.
Carefully he had turned up his shirt collar and reached behind his neck to unclasp the chain. Even as he took it off you could see the faded skin tone where the necklace had been. The necklace itself was a pentacle sign and was in white gold (something Brandy insisted on instead of silver).
"How ironic. She has one like this, you know, that I gave her. We brought them together over a year ago at a local charm shop close to home. She wanted white gold instead of silver, because she supports the vampire movement. In fact she insisted on them being white gold and shelled out the extra bucks for them. You should of seen the looks she got from the saleswoman.
Our kind. Excuse me. Her kind doesn't approve of us. Another ironic thing that I happened to be turned. Anyway, maybe this will work, it may still have her scent - but it will definitely have her essence."
He handed it to her, as if it was the most precious thing he had ever owned.

Anoukl set her drink down and reached for the item, and as Anouk grabbed the necklace, she smiled at Derek. She held the pentacle in her fingers and held it near her nose, getting a smell that as sweet and cloying like honey and spicy like cinnamon and nutmeg. It was delightful, to say the least and now the trails in the club all faded except for hers. It was faint, but seeing as Anouk was older and more experienced, she held on to the essence. As she took in a breath, her mind cleared and in her mind, she was racing down a road towards Bon Temps. That was where she was, but Anouk wasn't exactly sure where in Bon Temps she was. All she knew was that Derek and her had a little running to do to find is Persephone. The entire time Anouk's eyes were closed, but they slowy opened and she handed Derek back the pentacle. "She's in a little hick town called Bon Temps, not too far from here. I've been there and I know this scent, well now. I don't know exactly where in Bon Temps, but she's there or close. Once we get there I can smell her out better. Or you could, but the pleasure is all mine." Anouk smiled at him, the softness in her eyes was returning since she snapped at him earlier and she looked at him with what the wiccans said when they entered a magick circle, 'In perfect love and perfect trust.'

Bon Temps. Now why would Brandy go to a little no-name sheltered town like that?
Because it was a no-name sheltered little town. Anouk had got that all from the necklace? She was powerful indeed, and while Derek could never match that kind of power there was something satisfying in knowing someone like her was on your side.
Quietly he reached for the necklace and hooked it back around his neck. He had felt naked without it.
"Bon Temp's eh? Sound's like a place she would run away too. I would like you to come with me to the town so we can pinpoint her exact location. However, from there, it might be best if I do that on my own."
He tried his best to not sound rude and not sound like he was pushing her away. It was really something he had needed to do on his own and he didn't want Anouk holding him back.
"But. uh. I can catch up to you later if you want. This bar isn't as corny as it looks from the outside."

When Derek seemed impressed, Anouk felt a little proud of herself, fulfilled almost. She actually helped someone with her 'dark gift', but what would he do with the information he gave her? Only time would tell. The night was young for mortals, so Brandy should still be up and out doing her thing and two vampires running to Bon Temps shouldn't take long since they run about a hundred times faster than a human and never tire, it wouldn't take them long to get there if they left soon. Anouk was still a little famished, so she quickly finished her drink before speaking up.
"Bon Temp's eh? Sound's like a place she would run away too. I would like you to come with me to the town so we can pinpoint her exact location. However, from there, it might be best if I do that on my own."
"Of course. I'll gladly accompany you, and if you wish to be alone with her, then so be it. I suggest we leave soon if we wish to reach her before it get's too late for humans." Anouk set down a few bills to pay for their drinks and began to get up, grabbing her clutch and waited for Derek to collect himself.

((ooc: You have great timing hun. If, in your next post could you say that you pinpointed her to the club in Bon Temp's Town Center that will work perfect))
"Of course. I'll gladly accompany you, and if you wish to be alone with her, then so be it. I suggest we leave soon if we wish to reach her before it get's too late for humans."
Derek was ready, more than ready to do this. To find her, and to finally bring his searching to an end. Everything would be better once they were reunited, he was eager and he was sure of it.
He stood up from his seat, added more bills to the pile, and eagerly followed Anouk out of Fangtasia.
"Your one hell of a woman."
It was a strange compliment to his companion, but it was a compliment none the less. And it wasn't just because she was doing him a favor either. God's, was his heart racing - well, if he had a heart - it was hard to tell what emotions were actually just in his mind..
