"Dear girl, there are more men and women in Bon Temps then just Sam, you and me I'd assume."
"Well, yeah of course.. there are I just - -"
"I may be a many of things, but I am not a home wrecker. I heard that you two were close the first time...."
"Oh, I know I just, well I misunderstood you. I'm sorry"
Brandy waved her hand frantically as she apologized and insisted that she could leave. No! Eep! Brandy was panicking, she didn't want the girl to take off or anything. Oh brother for misunderstandings!
"Oh,no, Please don't go. It's not your fault I'm an old fuddy duddy that misunderstood you. Please, stay? I wouldn't feel right about you just up and leaving. I'm usually not like this, I promise"

Phoenix looked down at the girl and smiled with a simple nod of her head.
"Well, he must you have all sorts of tongue tied and in love." Phoenix laughed to herself and sat back down once again. "Let's start over. I'm Phoenix, new to Bon Temps and I love this little bar. Seems like a nice place to hang up your hat so to speak after a long day of work." Phonix looked around as the sound of pool balls smacked into each other. Two men around the age of forty or so seemed content on playing pool and paying them little of no mind.
"And the Lafayette burger is to die for. Is it named after the place?" Phoenix wondered what the person thought of when naming and making the burger.

Sam had been out on errands all morning and knew the bar would be in safe hands with his very competent staff. He came in through the back door and went into his office briefly to check that all was well. Nothing seemed out of place so he walked back out and into the bar.
He could catch her scent a mile away and there she was sat in a booth with a pretty red headed girl. He smiled, it was nice to see her getting to know more people. Though he hadn't seen this girl around, so maybe she was getting to know Brandy.
Something seemed to go wrong and the redhead stood up as if to leave, Brandy floundering getting her to sit back down. This was Sam's cue and he strode over to the table to make sure everything was alright.
"And the Lafayette burger is to die for. Is it named after the place?" the young redheaded girl said to Brandy.
Sam found a smile upon his face, it was an innocent enough mistake to make and Lafayette and his burgers were the stuff of legends in Bon Temps. "No, that'd be me." Sam extended his hand out to the girl. "Sam, Sam Merlotte." he quickly looked over at Brandy and gave her a smile and a wink.

"Well, he must you have all sorts of tongue tied and in love."
Brandy couldn't help to laugh nervously, waving her hand in front of her face frantically. Brandy had a bad habit of being on Cloud 9 like.. 24 hours of the day.
"Well I, well yeah - - "
"Let's start over. I'm Phoenix, new to Bon Temps and I love this little bar. Seems like a nice place to hang up your hat so to speak after a long day of work."
"Oh, it really is. I would live here if I could, well I pretty much do now. Everyone here is really nice, and even if you meet a couple of bad eggs it doesn't compare to the company of friends"
She was glad Phoenix wanted to start over, Brandy didn't have any enemies as of yet in Bon temps - and she didn't want too either. Brandy turned her attention for a moment at the people playing pool. It was a game she never learned.
"And the Lafayette burger is to die for. Is it named after the place?
Brandy was about to correct her, when a familiar voice chimed in instead.
"No, that'd be me. Sam, Sam Merlotte."
He looked at her, and she blushed again. If only he knew what a fool she had made of herself already..
He would probably laugh at her.

Phoenix's attention went to Sam as he spoke and introduced himself. Well he was attractive, but not really Phoenix's type. She could see why Brandy got all defensive on her.
She took the hand and shook it with a genuine smile. "Phoenix Rivers." Phoenix looked over to Brandy and saw the look between the two of them. "Brandy was just telling me about your establishment and trying to help me look for a job among a lot of other things." Phoenix smiled to Brandy appreciatively. "You may have come up a few times as well..." Phoenix shrugged her shoulders at the mention. "But a lady never tells all of her secrets." Phoenix laughed lightly and looked over the bar once again. "How long have you been in town for? I don't remember it when I lived here many years back." Phoenix looked back to Sam, then over to Brandy.

The girl took his hand and introduced herself as Phoenix Rivers. He arched an eyebrow, the name was unusual. Though considering one of his best friends was called Sookie. Who was he to judge?
He took her hand and shook it in a firm grip and listened as she talked about finding a job and Brandy's namedropping of him in there conversation. "But a lady never tells all of her secrets." Sam looked between both women and shook his head with a smile.
"How long have you been in town for? I don't remember it when I lived here many years back."
Her question took Sam aback. She used to live here? He pursed his lips a little, he didn't like a lot of personal questions. Least of all from a complete stranger. This seemed harmless enough. "Been here 'bout 6 years now. You used to live in Bon Temps?"

Brandy was quite surprised when Phoenix began '20 questions' with Sam. It was interesting to watch, as Sam didn't seem to be the type to divulge in anything. Hell, how long did it take her to get him to open up? And she didn't even know half of what she probably could about him!
The more she thought about it, why didn't she ask Sam questions like that? She never wondered how long he had been here, but she did ask about his family but he had avoided the question the best way he could.
All she could do was watch, intrigued with her chin in her hand. Lord, did she ever love listening to him talk.

Wow, man of few words. So unlike Brandy, or so Phoenix thought. She pursed her lips in thought at the question and then nodded her head.
"Yeap, moved around 5 years ago. I was only just an adult then, so you wouldn't have seen me in here to be real honest. I've only been back a few months now." Phoenix looked over to Brandy an expression saying 'help me'! She had no idea what to ask a man who spoke in answers of a few words.
"Well, you have a nice place here. Could use a little activity during the daytime hours, but I heard it's real busy at night time." Phoenix looked back at Sam as she tried to size him up a bit. Other than being semi-attractive she didn't see anything fancy in him. Then again he wasn't her type anyways.
"It's real nice that you allow vampires in your bar. Not many places do to be honest." Phoenix smiled and then turned her attention back to Brandy.
"You don't mind if I steal your girl one night and we go out for a night on the town do you?" It was a spur of the moment idea, but it sounded like a lot of fun.

"Yeap, moved around 5 years ago. I was only just an adult then, so you wouldn't have seen me in here to be real honest. I've only been back a few months now."
"Well, welcome home." Sam said with genuine sincerity. "How does it feel to be back on old ground?" he was doing his utmost to appear hospitable. This was a necessary part of the job, be nice to the locals.
"Well, you have a nice place here. Could use a little activity during the daytime hours, but I heard it's real busy at night time." Sam smiled, pleased that the bar was appealing even in a small way. He was real proud of his bar and getting compliments on any part of it made him feel great. "Well, thank you." he gave a quick glance over to Brandy and back to Phoenx. "It's around noon it picks up, people comin' in during lunchhours. But yeah, at night the bar really comes alive."
His face was alive with a smile. One of the few things he could talk about with complete honesty, was the bar.
"It's real nice that you allow vampires in your bar. Not many places do to be honest." Sam's fought to keep the smile on his face. Sam only allowed them out of necessity and on the notion that they behaved. "Well, a customer is a customer" he replied, almost squirming in discomfort. She didn't look like a Fangbanger, maybe she was just open minded like Sookie.
"You don't mind if I steal your girl one night and we go out for a night on the town do you?" Sam shook away the Vampire related issues from his mind and re-focussed. "Uh, sure. If Brandy don't mind, I don't see why I should." he looked down at her with a grin. "Not like we're joined at the hip"

Brandy was sitting silently for a moment, watching the interaction between Sam and Phoenix with curiosity. Sam seemed completely at ease when talking about his bar, and she thought she even saw a bit of pride laced in his reactions. She smiled, glad to see he was loosening up a bit.
Though, there was that reaction again when vampires were mentioned. As much as he tried to hide it, Brandy could tell it was there. How curious indeed, there had to of been something behind that...
"You don't mind if I steal your girl one night and we go out for a night on the town do you?"
Oh. Well, Brandy didn't see that one coming. Her cheeks flushed and she sat up straight. Her night on the town with Summer was fun, despite Derek cutting their night short, but Phoenix definitely looked like she knew how to have a good time. Did this mean Brandy had to find another party dress? She felt weird throwing on the red one again...
"Uh, sure. If Brandy don't mind, I don't see why I should. Not like we're joined at the hip"
Brandy caught Sam's gaze and coughed nervously. If they were joined at the hip it was definitely Brandy's fault and not his. She had a habit of being too clingy, and even though he didn't seem to be complaining she felt like one of those 'smothering' girlfriends at times. At that thought, she turned her attention to Phoenix with a smile.
"That sounds really fun Phoenix, I would love too"

With a welcome home from Sam, Phoenix smiled wide. While it might have been under unfortunate circumstances that she found herself back here, it was nice to at least have a welcome back. She'd never get it from her parents that was for sure.
"It sure is different. Seems a lot more people are around than I remember." Phoenix had seen a few faces she'd not recognize as she drove to Merlotte's. "Then again I didn't pay attention to much going around me at 18, though what 18 year old does?" Phoenix said with a simple shrug.
Phoenix let out a small laugh when Sam mentioned them not being joined at the hip. Now that would be a site to see in Bon Temps! Sounded like one of those side show circus acts that one saw on the way home from college or something.
When Brandy spoke Phoenix turned her attention to the girl completely. When she agreed to go out, Phoenix bounced lightly in her seated position and clapped her hands together. "Great! When are you free?" Phoenix was ready to go with Brandy any day or night of the week just about anywhere. It wasn't like she had a ton of friends around asking her to do anything.

"It sure is different. Seems a lot more people are around than I remember."
That was her cue that she was still interested in talking to Sam, which was fine with her since she was still very new to Bon Temps.
"Then again I didn't pay attention to much going around me at 18, though what 18 year old does?
Brandy shrugged herself, she didn't remember much about being 18, she met Derek when she was 19 and she was raised around witchcraft all her life. When Brandy was 18, all she was thinking about was spells - not where she going to go out that weekend.
"Great! When are you free?"
When was she free? Her schedule might be open for tonight.
"Well, I guess I could go tonight.. I mean, if your interested in such short notice. "

Phoenix smiled at Sam when he sort of agreed to let Brandy go out. She hadn't met anyone other than Alan since being home and now she had a possible new friend!
Phoenix was about to speak when Brandy suggested doing something tonight. With a quick nod of her head Phoenix moved her feet in an excited manner.
"Great!" Phoenix felt like she could just hug the girl for being so nice to a perfect stranger, but she didn't want to come off all creepy like either. It wasn't every day someone was so nice to a perfect stranger, especially to her.
"So, you like to dance or shop?" Phoenix was trying to get a feel for the things Brandy might want to do this evening. "I like both, but I love to dance more." Phoenix looked over to Sam as he stood there, she wondered if he wanted to talk to his girlfriend and what he thought of Phoenix taking his girlfriend out for the evening. He sure was nice to not worry about a perfect stranger hanging out with his girlfriend, or he was very trusting. Either way it meant Brandy and Phoenix were going to hang out and she didn't care what the reason was that he agreed.
"Though I could use some advice on fashion too. In Arizona I wore a lot of sundresses because of the sun." Phoenix laughed lightly as she brought the conversation around to being about her again.

"So, you like to dance or shop?"
Dance or shop? Brandy was certain she didn't do very much of either. She went dancing with Summer, that was fun - but also a good way to get into trouble. Shopping meant spending money and that was not something she had a lot of.
"I guess we can go dancing if your interested, I wouldn't be very good at shopping.. its only fun if you have actual money to go with"
Window shopping on your own? That was alright, you could imagine all sorts of things! But with someone you didn't know very well was kind of different. Brandy couldn't describe it if she tried.
"I like both, but I love to dance more."
Brandy nodded, Phoenix was very.. outgoing, and excited about a lot of things it seemed. The girl had made Brandy smile, and made her eager to see what a night out with this firefly would be like.
Firefly. Brandy liked that.
"Though I could use some advice on fashion too. In Arizona I wore a lot of sundresses because of the sun.
"Oh, me? Fashion? Not my strong suit. I am would be just as happy in one of Sam's old plaid shirts as I am in a designer dress. I am the wrong person to seek advice from. Though, I do have the oddest question for you.."
Brandy cupped her chin in her hand and leaned forward toward Phoenix.
"Can I call you firefly? I just thought of it in my head.. and I can't help but to feel like it was meant for you.

Sam watched the conversation between the two women and when the subject turned to dancing and clothes, that was his cue to leave. "Sorry to interupt, but I'm gonna get back to work." he looked to Brandy and gave her a smile. "I'll be around if you need me." he hesitated slightly, debating wether or not to kiss her.
He quickly turned to Phoenix, "So...uh...Anything else you need? Like a top up or something else?"
His words were awkward and occasionally glancing over at Brandy. He was regretting not giving the kiss.
