"You want me to go get him?"
Talking to Sam, would probably be the best idea at this moment. Brandy found her eyes gazing toward Summer and she nodded slowly.
"Please."

Summer nodded to Brandy, gently stroking her arm and giving her a kiss on the side of the head. "I don't think he'll come in here, so...get him to meet you in his office?" it was more a statement than a question and Summer turned on the low heel of her sandals and made her way out into the bar and headed towards Sam with a flat expression.
"Hey Sam? Can I talk to you a sec?" Summer motioned her head to the side, so they could speak a little more privately.
Sam dutifully followed, sensing it had something to do with Brandy. "What's goin' on Summer?" Sam asked quietly.
"Brandy...she needs to talk to you Sam. It's really important." Summer began, then realising she may be alarming him prematurely, she continued. "Go into your office and wait for her, I'll keep an eye on the bar for a bit and you don't even need to pay me." Summer half grinned. "Just....be there for her..kay?" Summer concluded and ushered Sam out back.

Brandy left her pirate hat and the eye patch in the bathroom, splashing her face one more time with cold water before catching her reflection in the mirror. Just another tribulation for them to go through, but this she had to do alone.
She didn't even realize it would be odd for Sam and her to talk in the bathroom, her mind had been so focused on the events at hand that she really didn't know what to think. Would this mean she would have to put Sam and her on a 'break'? She hated to leave him but this was family.
The air was heavy, especially when it came to her father. This feeling in the pit of her stomach as she left the bathroom wasn't uplifting at all. Her brown eyes had caught the glances of everyone in their costumes and she headed straight to the office where Sam was waiting.
Quietly she entered, closing the door behind her.
"Sam, I don't know how to tell you this but, I am going to have to leave for a little while."

Sam paced back and forth in his office, he was on edge after Summer asked him to wait inside because Brandy needed to talk to him. It sounded very serious and Sam was even more worried than he was before. When Brandy came inside the office, Sam looked over towards her and his troubles did not ease when he saw the pain on her face.
"Sam, I don't know how to tell you this but, I am going to have to leave for a little while."
Sam stood for a moment, taking her words in. Now confusion was added onto his worries and fears. "Leave? What? Why?" Sam flustered his words, it was not something he was expecting to hear from Brandy and he walked over to her, reaching out for her. "What's going on?" Sam's eyes looked at Brandy expectantly, he needed to know exactly what was going on inside her head. Paranoia was starting to seep into his head, which made a bad combination with the worry and confusion.

"Leave? What? Why? What's going on?"
He looked worried, she had expected him to be. Maybe she hadn't worded it the way she should of. Still, she had handed him her phone so that he could go through the text messages if he had wanted too.
"My father is really sick and I don't know how long he has... I just don't know how long I am going to be gone for and if my father passes away.. "
She wrapped her arms around herself, and looked at the ground. She didn't tell Sam what she had told Summer.. not everything. She knew Sam wouldn't accept her not coming back.
"You have your responsibilities here. I plan on leaving tomorrow, but tonight.. I want to be here for the party."

Sam gave Brandy a strange look as she handed him her cell phone and she began to speak. The look of pain never leaving her face for even a second. "My father is really sick and I don't know how long he has... I just don't know how long I am going to be gone for and if my father passes away.. "
Sam felt foolish and his blue eyes softened up as he moved closer to her, wrapping his arms around her gently. Giving her space to breathe and if she wanted, just some space. "Aw no....I'm so sorry." It was a typical response, but it was always the appropriate one but as such it was a sorrowful moment.
Sam was hellbent on accompanying Brandy back home. She needed him and he wanted to be there for her. The good and the bad.
"You have your responsibilities here. I plan on leaving tomorrow, but tonight.. I want to be here for the party."
Sam shook his head, "I want to come with you." Sam said gently, "To hell with the bar, you're more important to me than the bar." Sam's voice was shaking, the thought of her going through it all alone was unconscionable to him. His overwhelming urge to protect Brandy kicked into high gear."Let me come with you."

"Aw no....I'm so sorry."
Brandy was upset. Clearly. And as his arms slipped around her she started to cry. She couldn't hold it in any longer, and now that they were alone she let the tears fall. It was comforting, being able to let it all out, for a brief moment.
"I want to come with you."
Brandy looked at him, her eyes puffy and red.
"Sam... you can't..."
"To hell with the bar, you're more important to me than the bar."
"I know you feel that way Sam, there isn't a doubt in my mind.. it's just..."
His voice was shaking, he was as upset as she was. Brandy swallowed hard, and she started to cry again..
"Let me come with you."
"Sam.. you can't. I don't know how long I'm going to be gone. I don't know if I'll be coming back. If my father passes away, I will be staying with my mom back in Fargo. I'm sorry... I can't just let my mom be alone."

Brandy just fell apart in Sam's arms and it broke his heart. Seeing her in this much pain and being unable to do anything to help only amplaphied everything. But if he could be there with her, for her. It was something and he'd not feel so useless.
"Sam.. you can't. I don't know how long I'm going to be gone. I don't know if I'll be coming back. If my father passes away, I will be staying with my mom back in Fargo. I'm sorry... I can't just let my mom be alone."
Sam pulled away slightly, giving her a look of miscomprehension. "Brandy...I..I don't understand. Not coming back?" Sam began shaking his head in disbelief. "Of course you're coming back. Don't say you're not coming back." it was utterly selfish, but Sam just couldn't help himself. How could he let her go now? After everything they'd went through to be together.

"Brandy...I..I don't understand. Not coming back? Of course you're coming back. Don't say you're not coming back."
Brandy sighed, her eyes almost glazing over as she forced herself to look away. This? This might of been harder than the reason she was having to leave.
"Sam... don't.. please don't this. This is hard enough as it is for me."
She couldn't look at him, just being around him was tough enough. She knew what he was going through, she knew how painful this would be for him... and all she wanted to do was...
"I'm just... preparing you. I don't know how long I will be gone, and I would never ask you to leave your home. I just want you to know.. that if my father dies, I will be staying in Fargo with my mom. I'm sorry, but this.. this is the only way."

Sam stepped back, it felt like he'd just been kicked in the gut. His heart was aching, as much for Brandy as it was for himself. But he was struggling to accept what Brandy was saying to him. It had all came so quickly and his head was swimming.
"Sam... don't.. please don't this. This is hard enough as it is for me."
A single tear trickled down Sam's cheek. He was so winded he didn't know what to say. Nothing he would have said would have mattered. Brandy's mind was well and truly made up.
"I'm just... preparing you. I don't know how long I will be gone, and I would never ask you to leave your home. I just want you to know.. that if my father dies, I will be staying in Fargo with my mom. I'm sorry, but this.. this is the only way."
Sam paced again, stopping at the sofa and slumped down onto it. He ran his hands over his face, drying off the dampness on his face. "There isn't anything I can do or say to change your mind is there?" Sam couldn't even look at Brandy, it was just too painful. "At least promise me one thing...." Sam paused, it was the last ditch attempt for her to see reason. "When things settle down. Come back to me?"

"There isn't anything I can do or say to change your mind is there?"
Brandy was silent, she couldn't look into his eyes either for fear she would break down again. Her heart was racing, her voice caught in her throat, and even his next words...
"At least promise me one thing...."
Brandy swallowed, hard, but she walked toward him and eased herself between his legs so that his head could rest against her chest and her hand could run gently through his dirty blond hair.
"When things settle down. Come back to me?"
Brandy kissed the top of his head, the tears had stained her cheeks. She was so in love with him, he was everything to her.. she couldn't see him suffer like this.
Only one word left her lips.
"Always."

Sam wrapped his arms around her tightly, kissing the top of her head. "I'm so sorry you have to go through this Brandy. I can't even imagine what you're going through right now." Sam was a little comforted by what she said. It may not ever amount to anything, but for the time being it made everything alright.
"You want a drink?" Sam asked, "I'll get you a water from the stock room." Now everything had been more or less hashed out between them, Sam was back into protective mode. He just wanted to look after her.

."I'm so sorry you have to go through this Brandy. I can't even imagine what you're going through right now."
Painful sometimes. A love like theirs, that she couldn't even bear the thought of being away from him more than a day. Was love suppose to be this intense? So passionate? But this was her father, and her mother, she had to be there for them.. and Sam couldn't come with her.
Maybe, ... no, she couldn't ask that of him. She couldn't ask him to leave his bar, his home, his friends.. for her. She would never ask that of him.
"You want a drink?I'll get you a water from the stock room."
Brandy looked at him and nodded, but she had stood up when she heard a male's singing voice coming from the bar. With a curious thought she stood up and open the door...
Oh, that was just too cute! She couldn't help but to laugh at the sight of Evan - Summer's boyfriend - standing on the stage while singing Steve Earle's "Guitar Town".
"Wow.. until today I would of never thought.. I would see a grown man, in a wolf costume, singing karaoke to a whole bar..."

As Sam stood up to leave the room for Brandy's water, she was headed for the door. A curious look on her face. The door opened and the sound of a male voice singing an old Steve Earle tuning drifted into Sam's office. Sam walked up beside Brandy, he had thought he heard something above the usual bar room chatter. Sam quirked an eyebrow as the sight of Summer's boyfriend Evan - complete with ironic Wolf costume - was the man behind the voice.
"Wow.. until today I would of never thought.. I would see a grown man, in a wolf costume, singing karaoke to a whole bar..."
Sam chuckled and nodded, wrapping an arm around Brandy's shoulder. "and he's not that bad either." Sam noted on Evan's voice. He gave Brandy a quick kiss and rushed towards the stock room and plucked out a bottle of still mineral water and brought it back for Brandy. "You want a glass or..." Sam trailed off, he figured Brandy would know what he meant.

"and he's not that bad either."
"I know you wouldn't go up there in a million years.. but I bet that you would be a good singer. Maybe one day you could sing for me."
Brandy closed the door when he came back from the stock room, she wanted alone time with him. Just him and her, while the Halloween party continued on outside without them. She would return eventually, but for now she just needed this time with him.
She reached for the bottle, answering his question for him, before she took a seat on the edge of the desk and tilted her head toward him.
"Now I'm kind of worried about you, you going to be alright here by yourself? If I come back home and you have some other girl on your arms - I just may have to scratch her eyes out."
