The idea of leaving for Dallas in a few hours seemed like a bad idea, but she couldn't turn her back on Damian or on Matt. She said she would do this, and she would hold up her end of the bargain.
No matter how much her head was screaming at her to stay, to cancel everything - to just stay in Sam's arms till all the problems went away.
But that was impossible, life didn't work that way. They couldn't just wish the problems away and whatever Sam felt like he had to hide from her, it was probably for her own good.
Still, she sat at the bar with her eyes looming over Kyle.
"A strawberry margarita and a plate of fries if you could. I am hungry."
She was troubled, her eyes looking across the bar and toward her reflection in the mirror. A charming and pretty girlfriend was she? She didn't feel charming and pretty - she felt... like a naive little pawn.
Her eyes looked toward Sam, but she held no expression on her face, only a sigh left her lips as she looked down at the bar. What a horrible feeling that she had no control over. Finally, she decided to speak toward Sam.
"Did you.. need any help back there? I could, if you wanted.. unless you wanted to have some fries with me. You haven't really had anything to eat yet."

Kyle looked briefly over at the other witch when she sat down at the bar, finishing the pint and slid it over to the recipient customer. A strawberry margarita and a plate of fries if you could. I am hungry." Kyle nodded to the other witch and passed her food order over to Terry, and then came back to the bar to fix her drink. Strawberry margarita...right...He took his time, having never made one before but knowing the theory behind it. He just hoped the end result was correct. As he set the glass infront of BB he couldn't help but asking how it went, phrasing it purposefully vague, hoping she'll give him information on both Maryann and what had happened in Sam's office with the Merlotte's owner.

Sam came out to see Kyle mixing a drink for Brandy. Holding this secret was going to be harder than anything he'd ever have to do. Sadly secrets and lies were part of his life, all the way back to his teenage years. Having to hide who and what he was. Constantly on the move. He loved Bon Temps and didn't want to leave, they had all made him feel so welcome. So much like family. The family he never truly had growing up.
"Kyle, make that the last alcoholic drink you serve for 4 years." he gave him an apologetic smile. It was his fault he had to man the front in the first place. "Thanks for helping out, you can go out back and give Terry a hand now. He needs it way more than Lafayette, so be gentle with him okay."
Sam stood behind the bar, looking like a child who'd just been scolded. It was an awkward moment all in all. People in the bar, watching them. Looking for any piece of gossip they could get there grubby mits on.
"That drink okay? Kyle make that okay for ya?" it wasn't the best conversation starter, but it was a start.

Brandy was staring at the glass, regretfully she had forgot that Kyle wasn't suppose to make drinks given he was underage. It was stupid thing on her part, but as Kyle pushed the drink toward her she had took it with a nod.
She didn't notice he had wanted her to talk about what had happened, he hadn't asked so she figured he didn't want to know.
"Kyle, make that the last alcoholic drink you serve for 4 years."
"That was my fault. I'm sorry."
She didn't look up from her drink.
"Thanks for helping out, you can go out back and give Terry a hand now. He needs it way more than Lafayette, so be gentle with him okay."
Brandy had looked up from her drink at that moment, and she saw all the people looking at them through the reflection in the glass. She seemed annoyed, and she turned to look over her shoulder at the lot of them.
"Do all of you really have nothing better to do? Respect that a man has his reasons."
That was all she offered to share, if they wanted to continue she would just leave. She really couldn't handle this right now.
"That drink okay? Kyle make that okay for ya?"
Brandy hadn't actually drank any yet, so she tilted the glass to her lips and almost choked once it slid down her throat.
"It's very.. strong. Holy sh!t Kyle, are you trying to get me drunk off my @ss?"
Well, it helped.. for a brief moment, to lighten the mood. Sam didn't seem to want to join her so she took in another breath and swallowed.
"How much longer are you going to be here, should I uh.. stick around... ? I am feeling like I'm doing nothing but serving as a distraction."
Alright. Fine. She had to admit it to herself at least... she was having a real issue with this whole.. Sam and Maryanne thing. She just couldn't shake it - but she was doing her best to hide it.

Kyle just nodded at Sam, saying an "Anytime" sincerely. Normally he would have made a joke or some sort of flippant action or remark, but not was not the time. The serious mood surrounding the couple told him that. He moved away from the bar and towards the kitchen, giving Brandy a small smile as he passed her as she commented on how strong his drink was. "You look like you could use something strong" was all he said before leaving the couple alone and heading for the kitchen to help Terry.

Brandy gave the gawping patrons a well deserved tongue lashing for there gossiping and general annoyance. A small smile began to make it's way onto his face. He couldn't help but be pleased at her outburst. They deserved it, rubber necking @ssholes.
"It's very.. strong. Holy sh!t Kyle, are you trying to get me drunk off my @ss?"
If anything broke the tension, this did. He'd already seen his girlfriend worse for wear on alcohol. In fact it wasn't that long ago. Kyle did as he was asked and went to help Terry with no fuss. He turned his head to nod to Kyle, another thank you.
"How much longer are you going to be here, should I uh.. stick around... ? I am feeling like I'm doing nothing but serving as a distraction."
Sam hadn't even thought about that. The whole incident with Maryann made him lose track of, well everything. He wanted to be with Brandy, but was also needed here. At least until Haylee, Tara or Lafayette show up for work. All three would be a Godsend.
"Hopefully not too long. I'll definetly get away to take you and Damian to the airport. I can't not be there to see you off." he put his hand across the bar to lay on hers, wrapping his fingers around hers. "Distraction is good. I don't want you to leave, I feel better with you here." his whole face brightened, a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes.

"You look like you could use something strong"
Brandy glanced at Kyle as he said that, offering him a slight smile before he turned to walk back to the kitchen.
"I was trying my hardest not to be obvious"
She did try, a lot these days. To not be obvious. She failed miserably sometimes, but at least her heart was in it.
"Hopefully not too long. I'll definetly get away to take you and Damian to the airport. I can't not be there to see you off."
Brandy's eyes had softened when she felt his hand reach out for her's. It was.. comforting, and she looked at him with a smile she couldn't really hide even if she wanted too.
Her fingers welcomed his, and she lifted up their hands so that she could kiss the top of his own gently. God's alive, did she love him...
"Distraction is good. I don't want you to leave, I feel better with you here."
Her eyes were becoming glassy at his sweet words, she couldn't help it - she was such a sap. She had given his hand a tight squeeze before she leaned upward and pressed her lips lightly against his own.
She didn't care who saw, if they wanted to gossip about something.. they could gossip about how cute the pair looked while doing it.
"I can surely think of more than one way to distract you..."
She offered Sam the most playfulness of winks and then eased back into her seat. It would seem, at least for the moment, she could forget all the craziness that happened that day and just enjoy being in his company - the way she was meant to.

Sam felt Brandy squeeze on his hand, a small smile crossing his lips. The chaos of earlier was starting to wash away. Then she leant upwards and placed a small kiss on his lips. All the paranoia from Maryann's visit was gone. She pulled away with a smile.
"I can surely think of more than one way to distract you..."
Sam laughed a little and returned the smile. "As tempting as that would be, I can't leave here till some of my errant staff decide to show up." he sighed, he couldn't really blame them. He'd been so lax lately that they were burdened with a responsibility they shouldn't have to carry.

Brandy couldn't help but to offer a little laugh, she wasn't exactly thinking right at that moment.
"I didn't mean right now. Besides, if we are both forced to wait it will be that much more exciting when we are back together again right?'
Though, to be honest, Brandy didn't really like having to hold herself back for anything. There wasn't enough time in the day it seemed. Not enough time at all.
She had a feeling not everybody would show up today. And she had a feeling it had something to do with Maryann.
"Say... Sam? About that karaoke night. Let's do that next week sometime."
When the fries came Brandy seemed content on eating them slowly, to make the time go by. It took her about 40 minutes to eat that darn plate of fries. Why weren't the others around yet? She expected at least one. Sure enough, at that thought, Arlene came strutting in all confused and mumbling to herself.
"Hey Arlene"
"Hey there Brandy. God Sam, I'm so sorry I'm so late! Last night was just - - anyway, has it been very busy today?"
The question was directed at Sam, but Brandy was the one that shook her head. Now it was starting to pick up a bit, guess people just needed to sleep till 2 in the after noon.

"I didn't mean right now. Besides, if we are both forced to wait it will be that much more exciting when we are back together again right?'
Sam pulled a face, for once he was the one getting way ahead of himself. Getting a little too exciteable. She was right of course, there really wasn't that much time anyway.
"I'll make sure I have something special planned for when you get back." he grinned at her, knowing she'd get the jist of what he meant.
"Say... Sam? About that karaoke night. Let's do that next week sometime."
Passion killed. Though Sam reckoned it was a good idea to cool his jets so to speak. Getting horny while you were working was never a good idea. Ever. It just leads to all sorts of problems. He recalled Brandy mentioning a karaoke night before and he scratched on his stubbly beard.
"Hmm, It would take a bit of planning and promotion. But I reckon it's possible. When you get back from Dallas, you can help me plan it. You seem to have more knowledge on it than I do."
Arlene came stumbling through the door looking more worried and flustered than usual. Her red mane of hair wasn't pinned up properly and she looked a little tired and a lot confused.
"Hey there Brandy. God Sam, I'm so sorry I'm so late! Last night was just - - anyway, has it been very busy today?"
Sam turned to Arlene, a look of concern on his face for his waitress. "It's okay Arlene, you're here now right." he smiled trying to comfort her. "Don't worry it's not been that busy at all."
He thought it strange, it was past midday and the usual hustle and bustle of Merlotte's was reduced to a few tables of the older generation of Bon Temps. Not even Jane Bodehouse was propping the bar up. Something was definetly amiss.
Arlene leaned over and gave Sam a peck on the cheek. "You are a great boss Sam Merlotte." she looked over to Brandy and smiled. "You got a good catch with this one, girl." she seemed to perk up a little and then caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror behind the bar. "Oh. My. God! Would you look at the state of me? I gotta go to the ladies to fix this." she scurried off into the back.
Sam just watching her in amusement.

"I'll make sure I have something special planned for when you get back."
Something special planned? Brandy's mind was meddling full of idea's as to what having something 'special' planned meant. She was already going to be moving in with him, already the whole town was starting to talk about the both of them as a single unit because they were together so often. Even the gossip surrounding them had died down.
Though, there were still comments about envy and jealously once and awhile. It would probably not change, people seemed jealous of Bill and Sookie as well. Though, she never had even met Bill yet - she just knew of him from all the gossip.
"Hmm, It would take a bit of planning and promotion. But I reckon it's possible. When you get back from Dallas, you can help me plan it. You seem to have more knowledge on it than I do."
There really wasn't much to it, anyone with even a playstation 2 could pull it off - oh, that was right, she gave the one she won to Kyle. Maybe she would borrow it from him..
Arlene had seemed flustered and confused, but Sam was more than understanding. He was a great boss, what could she say? You could always tell what kind of boyfriend a guy was by how he treated others - especially employees.
"You got a good catch with this one, girl."
Brandy glanced at Arlene with a smile and a nod. She knew how lucky she was, that was part of the reason she had tried so hard in the beginning and now was refusing to let him go.
Sam didn't seem to have any complaints.
"Oh. My. God! Would you look at the state of me? I gotta go to the ladies to fix this."
Brandy watched as Arlene scooted off toward the bathroom before she decided to make her observation known to Sam.
"Her.. energy seems a little.. off. You should watch her carefully today Sam, make sure everything is alright. I would talk to her myself but I don't think she knows me well enough to have a girl-to-girl. Everyone around here pretty much just knows me as "Sam's girl" after all"
Brandy was grinning at that, she actually liked the sound of it.

Sam's girl. Yeah he liked the sound of that. A lot. It was obvious by the look of dopey happiness on his face. So why then couldn't he admit how he really felt about her? She was already moving in with him, hell she was practically already living with him as it was. He determined to let her know before she got on the plane, give her something to smile about on the way there. Give her something to come back for.
"Oh, Arlene? Sure I can do that. Arlene is pretty scatty though." Sam smiled.
"Ah heard that!" came Arlene's voice from the back.

"Ah heard that!"
Brandy laughed into the last of her drink, placing the empty glass on the counter. It took her awhile to get that down considering how much alcohol was in it.
"Geesh Sam, now she will definitely be slipping something into your coffee now."
Brandy drew her finger around the rim of the empty glass, a little lost in the moment before she heard Arlene gathering her stuff together for the next table.
There wasn't much to do now, except hang out and wait till Sam was able to get off of work.
