"It wasn't that bad." Haylee noted toward Sam's apology in a honest tone, that regarded her wait to be seen and heard from. She couldn't even imagine what running a business would be like, if she were to put herself in Sam's shoes. Haylee shook her forehead and then glanced toward her empty drink, a little bit surprised at herself. While she did order it a little skimpy, she didn't expect to drink the whole thing! He really knew how to make a good tea with a little kick, though her focus had shifted to the note-pad. Over looking the question that Sam had asked of her, wondering if she was ready to begin with a interview. [Via his office]. 'Didn't mean to waste yer paper."
That habbit probably made her a little weird. Or that's what Haylee figured and slightly scratched the back of her neck. Maybe she needed to explain? "My um, mom used to be a waitress at one point. N' she used to hoard them a lot, kinda like a funny way of getting back at her boss." Hence the free-for all doodling! Haylee placed down the pen and chuckled, "He used to get so mad, I'd though his face would turn purple." Bah, she probably didn't need to be sharing this! Haylee gently stood and pushed in her chair, not waiting to get off course now. "Pretty much ready now, don't want to keep you held up."

'Didn't mean to waste yer paper." Sam smiled and waved it off. "Ah it's okay I got plenty more where that came from." She went on to talk about her mother, a waitress. He took note of that, hopefully that would come in handy. Haylee stood up and indicated that she was ready.
"Okay, if you'll just follow me." Sam motioned to her and he walked through the tabled areas and into the back, arriving at the door to his private office, he turned the handle and opened the door and stood aside to let her in. "Take a seat." Sam walked in and turned his desk chair round to face her.

Haylee gave a tiny smirk before she actually chuckled, feeling a great amount of relief by Sam's words. "Well, that's good for me! Because I feel less guilty now." Once that was noted, or more like expressed from her conscious: The real work could begin! Via a professional job interview, once she was able to follow Sam into his office. "Thank you," Haylee spoke on being given the notion to "have a seat," it took the edge off a slight bit. She REALLY hoped to be given a chance, to be hired. Though, such a feeling was jumping the gun, but it was hopeful. As there was just something about this bar that felt "homey, a extremely close feel."

"Okay" Sam began, "Haylee is it?" he mused externally, trying to recall her name. "Just a few questions to start off with." he relaxed on his chair and crossed his right leg over the left. "What brought you to Bon Temps and what makes you want to work at my bar?" he watched her carefully.
Sam was likely going to hire her regardless, but making it a bit more official seemed the sensible thing to do. He waited on Haylee's reply and grabbed a pen and a notepad and started to make notes. Just to make it look even more official.

"Yep, that's me." Haylee briefly confirmed Sam's question, when he tried to recall her name. At least, that's how it appeared from her account of the comment. Though, she wouldn't blame anyone if they actually forgot something, especially after a busy day. That it sorta happens from time to time, nothing to be ashamed or bothered over. If it happened constantly, well: Then you should worry. Her lips turned a smile, nodding silently while Sam noted that he had a few questions to start off with. Wondering on what brought her to Bon Temps and into his bar, where she would like to be hired. It was kind of a long story, from that feeling alone: It had felt cliche. "I was in Dallas recently ago for some personal stuff. Then when it settled, I moved to Shreveport and then finally onto Bon Temps."
If pressed about it, she would include the "personal" reason as the death of her mother. Otherwise, she would like to keep it out of the interview. Now, the other question onto why she would like to work here! Haylee recalled her feelings, then figured they would be the best answer. Not only for the reason that she needed a job, but it was like she could feel safe here. "I got a homey-like feeling, when I walked in. Kinda like the same feeling you get, when you've been somewhere before. It makes you feel safe after awhile."

"I was in Dallas recently ago for some personal stuff. Then when it settled, I moved to Shreveport and then finally onto Bon Temps." Sam nodded and scribbled it down on his pad, looking up to give her a smile. She continued on answering Sam's second question. He reply made him feel genuinely heartwarmed.
"I'm really pleased you feel that way. I do my best to maintain a friendly and welcoming environment." he paused and put the pen and pad back down onto his desk. "Look, I'm not gonna drag this out much longer." he stood up and extended his hand to Haylee. "Welcome to Merlotte's, when can you start?"

Haylee spoke up in the brief pause that was left by Sam, "It shows." Really, it did! As most places would've nagged her to order something, or would've asked her to leave. Though, Merlotte's; er-Sam never did. Heck, she even got a drink on the house! Once Sam had placed his pen and pad down, he spoke about not wanting to drag on much further. From that, she had actually assumed the worst as he was standing. Though, she really should've have assumed anything.
At least not until all of the facts were in. Even so, it was probably a normal thing to do. Haylee became pleasantly surprised when Sam extended his hand and offered her a job. When could she start? SHOOT, right now! Oh, that's right! Haylee quickly tried to grasp ahold of Sam's hand, while she stood in the attempt to give it a shake. ""Are you kidding? I could go right now!"

Sam shook her hand and smiled at her enthusiasm. "Are you kidding? I could go right now!" yeah, she really was enthusiastic. He moved back and sat on the edge of his desk. Really pleased at his decision to hire her. "Well, I appreciate that. But it's best if you start on a fresh day and I'll get our best waitress to show you the ropes." he stated casually, "So if you can come in tomorrow, say midday we can go through some of the paperwork and get your payroll set up. But as of now I can say it's good to have you aboard."

"Oh,heh.Right." Haylee noted as she came down from her bubble of excitement, slowly taking in what Sam had pointed out. Really, it would be for the best to learn by someone that knows the ropes. Then to just jump into the fire, rather blindly and carefree in this matter. While she didn't have a problem with the time, she had a tiny problem of something else. Paperwork. It tended to have a lot of nosy, but understandable questions. Age, any special skills or work experience. The one of: "Where you lived", would be a problem for Haylee.
In some circumstances, she was a horrible liar and sometimes, it was half way believable.Though, she wouldn't want to lie or to keep something hidden. Unless it was embarrassing, like to be living out of your vehicle. Although, it was either telling Sam about the problem now, or to tell him then."Sure thing, sounds like a nice time. Um, well-of that paperwork, some of it might be a problem." Well, she didn't want to lay it all on at once. A little bit at a time was best, or so she wanted to start with.

Um, well-of that paperwork, some of it might be a problem." Haylee sounded cautious, but she hadn't set off any of Sam's early warning signals. She was sweet and likable, whatever it was embarassed or pained her to bring up.
"Hmmm, what kind of problem?" he asked gently trying to coax out whatever the issue was that was causing her so much reticence.

Haylee's right thumb and index finger rose, all in order to gently caress and fiddle with her earlobe. "Well, I uh- don't have a problem tell'n the truth." [Sometimes]. Everyone was probably like that, so with a clearing of her throat, she tried to pick up again. "Just on one of the questions, might be troublesome." Ok, well-that did not really get very far at all! She stopped playing with her earlobe, now allowing her palm to rest in her lap. "I don't think that living in your truck, counts as a residence." There. Funny how all of that was easy to spill out. Once you were able to, just getting to the point; after feeling strained. Pointing out the payroll aspect, as well as the application form, how they related. "It's temporary though, n not to bad. Cept when it rains, it gets kinda muggy." She wondered if by coming clean, if it had changed anything.
Sometimes the truth hurts.

Sam looked shocked but his face softened. Feeling bad for her predicament. He already gave up his last duplex to Brandy so he had nowhere he could put her. He couldn't let her sleep in her truck and it wouldn't be prudent to let her crash at his trailer either. He was in a bind as he felt obligated to help Haylee.
"Sleeping in your truck isn't the safest thing in the world to be doing around here Haylee." he didn't want to scare her but he had to be truthful, "It may look like a sleepy innocent little place but it's not all it seems. I think you need to find a cheap motel or somewhere to stay." he rubbed his hand over his stubbly beard and suddenly an idea came into his head. "Look, I can give you something to tide you over. So you can find somewhere to live. I'd offer you somewhere myself, but I just gave my last duplex away. If one comes available you'll be the first in line for sure."

It was agreed that sleeping in your vehicle was not safe, no matter the location; if she were to speak on it. Sometimes, it is the only thing you had to get started with, to which you couldn't be picky. According to Sam, Bon Temps may look safe and innocent; with a kind of "don't let it fool you" vibe. Danger(s) could also be found within this place, if you weren't careful enough. Oh, no; she couldn't accept Sam's money. He'd already given her a job, by that alone: It had extended a helping hand. Though, she felt like a hypocrite, it was never wrong to accept help when offered. However, pride can get in the way for most things. It often took a lot of work to get over it, for some at least.
Others just had to jump, when the moment called for jumping. Grumbling in their minds, perhaps. Haylee didn't grumble, but she had contemplated everything. "Thank you. I owe yah, Sam." She kind of hated to look this pitiful, though out of all that happened: It wasn't her fault. At least she was trying to get back on the horse again. By horse: Being able to concentrate and start a new life somewhere. It's what her mom would've wanted, Haylee figured when opting to take Sam up on his generous offer.

"Think nothing of it." he smiled and stood up to his full height, "I'm only looking out for my new waitress." he didn't want her to feel like a complete charity case so he gave her a sombre look, "If it makes you feel better. You can pay me back in installments. I won't be upset if you can't. It's just a suggestion." he turned and punched in his code to his safe and knelt down beside it.
He fumbled around inside and grabbed a handful of bills from one of his thick piles and got back up. Closing the safe over and pressing in it's security code to seal it shut. He stood back up and round to Haylee and handed her an envelope filled with notes. "Here y'go. Make sure you get somewhere nice okay."
((OOC: It's up to you how much you want Sam to have given you.))

"Think nothing of it," Haylee repeated Sam's statement within thought, ironic to be in fact "thinking."How could she not?He was taking a enormous chance, er- risk; by hiring her. A practical stranger, that he felt compelled to help even further. It was severely appreciated, frankly a "thank you" didn't cut it. Even though she had previously thanked Sam, Haylee settled that it would have to do for now. Smiling, she tipped her forehead within a nod as she liked the idea of a settlement. It seemed fair, but in time: There had to be some way to pay him back. Should she ever fall behind in payments.
Something to worry about later, as Hayle folded up the envelope with around two-hundred dollars in all; finally standing. At last, a place to sleep tonight! Yes, there was nothing wrong with her truck, although: The thought of a bed had made her happy. However, she hoped a place would be open, as late as it was. It was likely, as there might be stragglers wandering into town, in the same way as she did. Yet, you never knew until you looked. "I won't letcha down, Sam." It was nice to break the silence by saying something, the sound of nothing can eat at you sometimes.
[End of thread, it was awesome!!!]
