Ok, I can do this. Just gonna walk in there and then- Haylee's thought was momentarily interrupted, due to suddenly entering the local and affectionate hang-out. [Otherwise known as Merlotte's]. Something told her to just open the door and enter, because her pep-talk wasn't all to inspiring. Preferably, it was best that she acted without thinking in this exact situation, or else she would've chickened out. Although, it wasn't exactly easy as Haylee muttered a small curse word. "Crap." On part of recalling a awkward feeling, whenever you enter a place: You'd get like a thousand eyes on you. Just from opening the door alone, it's expected and hell, even she is guilty of the same thing.
Ironically, she hated that feeling upon her. It could be just her imagination. Maybe no one looked at all, that would be nice and less awkward, Haylee figured. Or more like hoped once she was able to seat herself towards the bar. Her accent slightly drawled toward the nearest patron, "Can I borrow that pen, if yer not using it?" It probably wouldn't have, if she wasn't nervous. Nodding a silent "thank you," while accepting the pen and opted to doodle on a paper-napkin. She needed a bit of comfortable pizz-azz, before even thinking about asking for a job. If Merlotte's were even hiring at this time, a tiny fact she forgot to take into the equation. At least until entering it, within a very LATE thought. I hope they're hiring.

Sam was meandering about the bar, smiling to himself as he looked across at all the customers. Another busy night at Bon Temps' favourite hot spot. Not that his bar was particularly glamourous. It was adequate but everyone who came through the doors of the bar and grill enjoyed there experience. For the most part, but there's no such thing as perfection.
The door swung open and in walked a pretty blonde girl. Typically most everyone turned to see who was coming to join them. Just how it is in places like this. No harm is usually meant by it. She walked up to the bar and found a seat. Sam's curiosity was peaked when she borrowed a pen and started to scribble on a napkin. "I can get you a pad and paper if you like" he said softly with a gentle humour.

A collection of random squiggles, a game of tic-taco-toe and a few polka-dots had littered the small napkin. Every now and then, Haylee glimpsed to see if the pen would bleed through the napkin. The last thing she needed was to mess up the bar, when the wear and tear took care of that naturally. She didn't quite expect to be spoken to, at least not this sudden and blinked when glimpsing towards Sam. A pad and paper would be delightful, mostly because it would do far better then a napkin. Having a limited amount of space: It was a pain in the butt. Though, she didn't have paper or a pad and wasn't going to complain, simply to make due at that moment. Being a little, ok whole-heartedly-naive: She missed the humor in Sam's words."That would be nice," commenting with a easy-go smile before perking a eyebrow. In the meantime from that statement, Haylee fiddled with the pen and decided to just again "run" without thinking. "Um, do-well. Do you think that Merlotte's is hiring?"

Sam contemplated letting her know it was just a joke, but reconsidered and turned to the far side of the bar and looked around to find a small notepad. The same ones his waitresses used to take orders. Just at the moment he heard her speak up again. His eyebrows raised at her. "Um, do-well. Do you think that Merlotte's is hiring?" Did she see him collect the waitress' notepad? He shrugged his shoulders, it really didn't matter.
Pondering over her question, he again chose the route of humour. He was in a good mood and there was no malice in his tone. "I dunno, maybe you should ask the boss" he leant on the bar counter and smiled. His blue eyes, sharp and sparkling mischeviously.

"I dunno, maybe you should ask the boss." The person had replied toward her question as he leaned on the bar counter. Fudge bars. That was a really GOOD point, that Haylee adorned a sheepish feel. "Point taken." She replied and meagerly pointed the pen toward Sam, going for the pun of "point." Haylee shook her forehead before lowering away from her pointing and thought about what had been said. Truthfully? She was still nervous to the idea, though she was glad to have gotten this far. "I don't think I'm ready to spill my guts yet towards the boss."
After pausing from her last sentence, Haylee continued to finish the rest of her confession. "Well- I probably could, but I'd probably end up say'n something stupid. I do that when I'm nervous." Well, maybe not "stupid" but random at least. Minor detail. Gosh, even admitting that truth to a stranger is embarrassing! Especially noting the 'nervous' part. Cr@p. "Kinda like right now, you weren't supposed to know that." Still absent from the current fact of: She was speaking with the boss!

Sam smirked but he couldn't help but feel really bad. He'd teased the poor girl enough. She had opened up to him, ignorant of the fact he was the owner and if she wanted a job she had to go through him to get it. Putting his hand out towards the girl in a friendly gesture and smiling his typical warm smile. "I'm Sam, Sam Merlotte" he hoped she didn't hold it against him that he didn't own up straight away to who he really was.
"I do apologise for not saying sooner." he gave her an apologetic look. "I'm more than willing to set up an interview if you're really interested."

Being stuck in a car, in this sticky heat, was not a plan that Deja had come up with. But she could hardly say no to her parents when they ask her something. She still felt guilty for what she put them through. So here she was, driving to some small town called Bon Temps, to visit a great aunt of some sort. "Look, there is a restaurant. Can we please stop for a drink or something? I am going to waste away." She said a little dramatically, which caused her parents to chuckle and her dad pulled into the parking lot to Merlotte's Bar. Mustering up some energy, Deja bounded out of the car, gave her dad a quick peck on the cheek and bounced her way to the front door. It felt good to stretch her legs and be out of the car. She held the door open for her parents and entered into the place behind them, feeling a nice cool breeze touch over her skin. That made her smile, and glad she opted to wear the outfit her mom picked out for her, a cute little blue sun dress with a few white lillies printed on it. They found a booth and sat down, her parents on one side and Deja on the other side. They all ordered glasses of sweet tea to start with, and Deja's mouth watered reading about the burgers. "Can I get a burger? Please? They look so good, and who knows what kind of food this aunt will have?" Deja's dad gave her an amused look, as he knew himself that his aunt was not the greatest cook, so eating here would be the best bet. "Sure," he said, "Pick any one you want." Deja let out an evil chuckle and wiggled her fingers together like Mr Burns from the Simpsons. "Excellent."

A smirk had appeared on the gentleman's face before her. Now, it wasn't something that Haylee could determine to be a good thing. Or even a bad sign at all, though she decided to smile and bare it. Even going so far as to shrug her shoulders, in order to fit within a sheepish theme. Eventually, her stance had returned to normal and tried not to feel like a total goof-ball that lost control of the moment. The instant that a hand was put forth, a introduction was made and right at that moment: She could die. "Very James Bondish, Mr. Merlotte." She couldn't resist a cultural reference, it was to tempting; despite all of her other feelings. Which was kind of silly, it wasn't the end of her world. That kind of awkward reaction reminded Haylee of her mother, always with a "Its not the end" of this or that.
It sure did feel like it at times, swiftly a hand was put forth on her part. Attempting to partake in the friendly handshake while introducing herself. "Name's Haylee Redford. N' please, no jokes about Hay." As for a job interview? Now, that was like music to her ears! "I'd really like that, alot. Though, it kinda feels busy at the moment." She didn't need to look around her to get that observation, call it a just 'assuming' from all the bustle of sound. Figuring that everyone was appearing to have a good time. She really wanted that job. Sometimes, she hated a few of the things that made her, well-her. Such as consideration, yet she never hesitated on that much.

The waitress came back with their drinks and Deja ordered the biggest burger on the menu. She felt starving, and she needed to get her strength back up since Eyolf fed from her the other night. She could feel her parents watch her and when she looked at them, she could see both concern and love in their eyes. She smiled reassuringly to them and sipped at her sweet tea. "Have I met this aunt before? I don't remember coming here." The conversation was light, and her parents told her how they would visit with this aunt when she was very little. But then her aunt got sick and refused all visitors which was strange. But now that their family knows Deja is back, people want to start visiting again. Deja listened to her parents with half an ear as the other part of her attention was on the people around the bar. This was a nice place and she felt welcome here. Her crystal green eyes swept over the bar to the man standing behind it and the woman he was talking to. She could feel her blood heat her skin in a small blush as she thought how cute the man was and she quickly looked away to pay full attention to what her parents were talking about and to wait on their food.

Sam smiled at the girl as she shook his hand, "nice to meet you Haylee" she was pleasant and pretty. Two things that would do her great stead in a place like this. He had half a mind to get her an apron and get her to work right off the bat. He figured throwing her in the deep end wouldn't be the best course of action. She noted that it was busy and it was. Most days Merlotte's was thriving with activity. This day was no different.
"Soon as it's calmed down a little and I can spare the time, I'll take you into my office for a quick interview." he smiled, "Are you okay to wait." he noticed there was nothing in front of her save for the doodlings on the napkin from earlier. "You want a drink, on the house?"

"Thank you, Mr. Merlotte." Haylee noted toward a very polite and equal standard of the "nice to meet you, line." It was very much appreciated, not to mention: It made her feel a little less awkward and more welcomed as time went forward. Even down to the option of meeting in Sam's office, as to conduct a quick and personal interview! She couldn't even imagine having one in this moment, with all the noise; it would be difficult to pay attention. On something that serious, from her point of view.
"Shoot..sure am," Haylee chirped in rather instantly on the idea of waiting, finding it to perfectly ok. Frankly, it was the least she could do and hope the wait can pay off in her favor. "Really? Never had somethin' on the house before. Can I have a Long Island Iced Tea." She then poked her cheek before adding, "Oh..yeah. Easy on the sauce, please." She couldn't believe that she nearly forgot that choc-ful drink, then again: She wasn't a big drinker to begin with.

The burger was awesome. Deja could not get enough as she stuffed her face. Her parents watched her eat with amused expressions as they ate their own meals. "I like this place, it is nice." Deja said around a mouthful of her burger. She wished she could take Eyolf here, but then he wouldn't know how to appreciate the food as well, he did not eat food. It made her chuckle to herself thinking about her vampire friend. Soon they were done their meal and Deja's dad paid the bill. Getting up to leave, Deja took another look around and thought to herself that she would like to come back here, perhaps without her parents and with some friends. Now she just had to find some friends. Maybe she could still take Eyolf here, but she was not sure if this small town place would allow vampires. She would talk to him about it when she got home that night. And now, it was time to go and visit that aunt that was strange according to her father.

Sam made up Haylee's drink and passed it over to her. "There ya go, easy on the sauce" he smiled "I'll try not to keep you waiting too long, should ease off here soon." He gave her a once over, sneakily taking in her scent. She wasn't quite human, but not giving off any signals of exactly what she was. So he had to be careful around her, not wanting to expose himself.
wait, huh he said to himself. What was he thinking? Presuming she had the job already and that she had the experience or at the very least skills to handle such a busy job as waitressing at Merlotte's. Not being arrogant, but truthful. The Bon Temps folks sure did love coming around his bar and he liked that and was proud of his success.

With the name of "long island iced tea" for a beverage, you probably wouldn't guess that it had a lot of sauce in it. Just from the sound of a name, is what Haylee supposed and decided not to dwell on it. Haylee hadn't been in Bon Temps long, but already she was starting to like it! Just from smell of this place; it felt soothing. Not to mention: The people seemed nice as well! She hoped that her "starting anew" phase, would be ready to set into place soon and to have good luck. Instead of being distracted, though life is like that sometimes. Haylee reached for her drink and began to have a tiny sip. N'-whoo! It was something!
Perking a eyebrow slowly, when remembering the agreement of waiting and shook her forehead. "Take yer time, Mr. Merlotte." Haylee noted with a southern polish of hers and meant it, whole-heartedly. Plus, other then her truck for a current shelter: She didn't have a lot of places to go, if everything ended quickly. Haylee then grasped her pen and reached for a pad, after all: It was promised to her and began to busy herself. If only little doodles and things could be worth a billion or two, her feelings joked and felt slightly guilty. Wasting a pad of paper like that. A business wasn't cheap, she probably needed to stop fidgeting with this but maybe a little later.

Time seemed to fly by in Merlotte's. One minute Sam was giving a new girl in town, Haylee, a drink while she waited on him getting time to talk to her. She was as likely a prospect for a job as Sookie was. Pleasant and polite. Pretty and smart. But he had to go through the motions of an interview to make it look and feel official and to make sure he wasn't just hoping for the best.
Sam walked over to where Haylee was now sat and pulled the opposing chair out from the table. "Hey there, sorry about the wait." he smiled, but in a friendly informal way. "You ready to come through to my office and we'll get started?" He looked down at the pad he'd given her earlier, more scribbles. He gave a lop sided smile at her quirkiness.
