In the whole mall this seemed like the most popular store for women. Not that Brandy was really that much of the clothing bug but she could probably sell something that sold itself anyway.
She was dressed for the interview, a nice and simple black dress which had a little lace underneath to cover up any cleavage that may have shown. She was fortunate enough to have this interview and she walked in knowing she would have the job before she even met the blond haired woman in her early 40's.
The interview was standard, why did you leave your last job and can you handle customer service. Brandy, as expected, had received the 5 day a week 6 hours a day. (To not have to pay full time benefits - Brandy wasn't dumb)
Today was a short day and she was now standing by the till, her dark caramel hues scanning the crowd. She was just suppose to cover the bosses lunch break. Fun.
Darn smokers.

Summer trudged through Pecanland Mall. She wasn't looking forward to it and wanted to get it over with quickly. Alcide had grudgingly given her the afternoon off to get something appropriate to wear for the big meeting with Packmaster Flood. She was hoping a little retail therapy would take the edge off the anxiety.
Passing in and out various shops, nothing really clicked. Either too flashy or too trashy. Summer was almost at the end of her tether when she passed by a classy looking boutique. Perfect Fit Summer refrained from having a laugh at the expense of the name, but with not much left to lose. She ventured in.
As soon as she passed through the doors the faint trace of a familiar scent hit her. Shaking it off she continued to walk, looking at the various rails. Nothing really grabbing her attention. She looked around for a little assistance.

It was nearing the end of her bosses' lunch break, and Brandy was eager to leave and explore the mall a bit before she went home. It was when the thoughts were coursing through her mind that she saw a familiar face walk into the store.
The store had been pretty empty, so Brandy had left her cozy place behind the counter and greeted Summer. The last time they met it wasn't on the best of terms (not really the worst either) and Brandy, for some reason, had wanted her second impression to be better.
"Hey, your back. Can I help you find anything?"
Now was probably the time to introduce herself formally, and not just appear like she was trying to get a sale. Hell, it was her first day - sorta - and she wanted to impress the boss.
"I never got your name before, I'm BB. You look... "
She searched Summer's eyes for a moment, and quirked her eyebrow. She didn't really know Summer yet, and she already seemed a bit concerned.
".... preoccupied."

"Hey, your back. Can I help you find anything?" Summer heard a familiar voice from behind and the scent was even stronger than before. She tilted her head to the side in curiosity. Then the voice and scent clicked together. The pretty girl that liked Sam Merlotte.
"I never got your name before, I'm BB. You look... " she paused for a moment as if trying to find the right word. preoccupied
Now that was an interesting choice of words to use. Summer forced a smile. "Yeah, that's one way of putting it." she looked down at the rack and back up to the girl. "i'm looking for something to wear to a...party. Something nice but not too flashy." she gave BB a subtle once over and then something hit her again. A scent that wasn't her own, a shifter. Her eyebrow arched. Sam Merlotte.
Reaching out her hand to the pretty salesgirl, "Summer, Summer Morgan. Nice to meet you." she almost added a note about Sam, but that would only raise uncomfortable questions.

"Yeah, that's one way of putting it. I'm looking for something to wear to a...party. Something nice but not too flashy."
A party, and something that wasn't too flashy? Her eyes were scanning over the clothing racks and she already had something in mind.
"Summer, Summer Morgan. Nice to meet you."
Her thoughts were interrupted by Summer's introduction. She shook Summer's hand, glad to finally know the girl's name.
"I think I have the perfect ensemble for you. Wait right here!"
Brandy had left Summer's side, going to a shoe rack - then a dress rack - then a pants rack. Moments later she had come by with black spandex shorts, a black bell-style dress, and brown knee-high boots.
"Classy, not too flashy, and modest enough that you will look good but not be whispered about. The whole outfit is about $175.00, but I can ring it under my discount to get you an extra 25% off before the boss gets back."
She didn't know why, but she wanted to know Summer better. She wanted a friend.. and they had someone they knew in common didn't they? More of a reason to be friends, in Brandy's opinion.
Even though she was still a bit envious.
"If you have time, did you want to grab a bite to eat with me? My boss shouldn't be too much longer."
Yep, Brandy was just confident in her styling choices. Plus she was starving.

BB shook Summer's extended hand in a friendly fashion and then suddenly darted off, saying there was something she had in mind. Summer stood on the spot in trepidation of what this bubbly girl would possibly bring over.
BB came rushing back over, her hands full of things. A black dress, shorts, a nice pair of brown knee high boots. Not anything Summer would have picked for herself, but she was suitably impressed with her choices. "I can see why you work here" Summer grinned. "This is perfect, thank you."
"The whole outfit is about $175.00, but I can ring it under my discount to get you an extra 25% off before the boss gets back."
Summer smiled and shook her head, "Thank you no. I can't let you get into trouble on my account." It was a kind gesture, but she couldn't allow her to potentially lose her job over a virtual stranger.
"If you have time, did you want to grab a bite to eat with me? My boss shouldn't be too much longer."
Summer thought over the prospect. She could pay for the items, go back to the empty motel and mull over the meeting with Colonel Flood. Or hang out with BB for a few, maybe get to know her and find a new friend. Dig up some gossip about Sam. She'd obviously been in his company recently and it intrigued her. "Sure, why not?" Summer smiled. "I could do with a bite to eat."

It really was no trouble, but she didn't want to prod Summer about taking her discount. When Summer seemed to like what she threw together, she had grabbed the clothes and encouraged Summer to come to the counter to ring them up.
"Oh how silly I am, I just assumed what size you were. Did you want to try them on?"
Brandy had appreciated the comment about her eye for fashion, but it wasn't really something she took pride in or anything. The time was ticking away and Brandy could already see her boss heading their way.
"I could do with a bite to eat."
The mention of food had Brandy's tummy rumbling again. When the boss came through the doors, she had looked at Brandy and seemed pleased.
"Well, I know I certainly made the right choice in hiring you my dear. Your free to go after you ring up that sale"
Nodding her thanks she turned her attention back to Summer. Her first successful sale, it was going to be a good day after all.

"Oh how silly I am, I just assumed what size you were. Did you want to try them on?" Summer checked the size tag on the dress. Size 8. Perfect. Checking the shoes, they looked fine too but best to check. Size 8, this girl was good. "Actually there perfect, you got a good eye."
A woman strode into the store and complimented BB. Summer noted that this must be the boss lady. BB bagged the clothes and shoes and Summer took them with a smile. "Thank you." she smirked to herself, and spoke to BB's boss with the most pleasant demeanour possible. "I want you to know, BB was so helpful. I'm truly hopeless at picking out anything that would match. She did a good job in finding me something." Now, not a lie. But definetly an over the top performance and something only Summer's closest would know was an ostentatious gesture.
Turning back to BB, "I'll wait for you outside." she smiled and waved to the boutique owner on her way out

The compliment was sure taken note by Brandy's boss, and Brandy had hurried out the door once the boss shooed her off. With that in mind, she had met up with Summer - a gracious smile on her full lips.
"You didn't have to do that, but thank you"
She made it a note to one day return the favor. She was sure Summer probably didn't do that for just anybody. She figured that the food court would be just as well, but she had a feeling Summer and her would want to sit down and not be distrubed by screaming teenagers.
Nothing was more annoying than that.
So, Brandy had opted for the in mall Denny's which was unusually quiet this time of day. It was after the lunch rush, after all.
The pair had found a seat in the back, away from the bustle, and Brandy had ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and a sweet tea. Now that they were comfortable, she figured she would start the conversation.
"So, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of party are you going to tonight?"
Hey, it worked.

Brandy came out the store with a big smile. "You didn't have to do that, but thank you" she seemed genuinely touched at a stranger doing something like that. "No trouble at all. It's nice to let your bosses know that you're work is appreciated."
The pair walked through the mall and headed for BB's choice of a Denny's. Cheap, cheerful and above all quiet. BB picked well. Summer looked over the menu and decided upon a chicken burger with mayo and salad with a side of fries. Topping it off with a diet coke. Summer smiled at the irony.
"So, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of party are you going to tonight?" aw hell, Summer thought as BB came right out with it. What an ice breaker that was. How to answer it without looking like a complete weirdo. "Oh um" Summer began, putting her burger back onto the plate. "It's like a work related thing." not strictly true. "Sort of welcoming me to the family business." close enough. "So I have to dress to impress, but I didn't want to go looking out of place." she picked up her food and took a huge bite out of the burger.

"Oh um. It's like a work related thing. Sort of welcoming me to the family business. So I have to dress to impress, but I didn't want to go looking out of place."
Brandy could relate to that, after all she was usually worried about what she wore. She wanted to be a lady, to a point, and she didn't usually flaunt herself.
"Well, you have the kind of figure that would look good in a burlap sack Summer, it was easy to choose a style for you."
Brandy had meant that, honestly. Summer seemed to have the whole package. As she thought about this, she was once again thinking about that kiss and suddenly took a giant sip of her sweet tea.
"I did a stupid thing. I should of followed your advice."
She was dying to talk to someone about it, and who better than Summer? She wasn't a guy, so she wouldn't judge her - and being the one that gave her the advice, well -
"I kissed him. I don't know what had come over me but we were hanging out and everything and I just kinda did it. I didn't want to go to bed without knowing what he tasted like. He kissed back but I freaked him out I guess because he stopped and said we were going too fast."
She paused, and found it most intriguing to stir her straw in the half-full glass of liquid amber. For some reason, seemingly completely out of the blue, her mind drifted to an ex boyfriend.
"He say's he likes me. So I told him I would wait for him. As long as it took. But I feel like a complete @ss, I should of known better."

"Well, you have the kind of figure that would look good in a burlap sack Summer, it was easy to choose a style for you." Summer smiled and nodded, not really knowing how to respond. It's been a very long time since someone said something so complimentary and meant it. Having a mouth full of food didn't help. Summer swallowed down and took a swig of coke from her glass. "Thank you." was the best she could manage as she was never good with taking a compliment without it sounding arrogant or egotistical.
"I did a stupid thing. I should of followed your advice." Summer tilted her head at BB. She wasn't entirely sure what she meant. But stayed silent to let her get it out into the open.
"I kissed him. I don't know what had come over me but we were hanging out and everything and I just kinda did it. I didn't want to go to bed without knowing what he tasted like. He kissed back but I freaked him out I guess because he stopped and said we were going too fast." BB paused and contemplated something before finishing off her confession. "He say's he likes me. So I told him I would wait for him. As long as it took. But I feel like a complete @ss, I should of known better."
Summer sat there for a moment, the words processing in her mind. She kissed Sam? no pangs of envy, strange. Her lips creased into a smirk and then a full beaming smile. "You did? Wow you got it bad honey." she tried to think of something positive to say to BB.
"At least you know he likes you and most of all he respects you. Not a lot of guys around like that these days. You lucked out." she wagged her finger at her with a cheeky grin.

"You did? Wow you got it bad honey."
Brandy nodded in agreement, she had to agree. Plus, it was nice to get it off her chest. Summer was like a diary, a human diary she could just pour her thoughts into - or at least confessions about kisses.
"At least you know he likes you and most of all he respects you. Not a lot of guys around like that these days. You lucked out."
Brandy hadn't thought about it like that, how satisfying would it of been if he had just gone with the flow that night and they ended up sleeping together? At the time, she was hurt, because she misunderstood but now she just wanted to thank him.
"I find it exciting, maybe even a little intimidating. I mean everyone in Bon Temp's knows Sam and getting involved with him comes with a lot of new people. You marry the guy the marry his family kinda thing, so it becomes like, you date the guy you date the town kinda thing because he has such a big influence here.
But...
At this point she paused and took a few bites of her sandwich, leaving the sentence for that moment hanging.
".. I can't deny the way I feel. Its like, something just clicked you know? How can you run away from that? Why would you. I don't know what I would do if he never wants me - like, ravishingly the way I want him. I guess, I would just smile and be grateful I even had the chance."

Summer listened as Brandy poured her heart out to her. Sam was well known and apparently hugely popular with the local yokels. This intimidated BB it seemed. Summer could understand that more than ever right now. Her life was in sheer chaos.

"When you click with someone, you just do. I can relate to that" Summer nodded with a smile and a far away look. She thought of him again and it was bittersweet. There were times she just missed him so much, now was one of those times. She shook herself mentally from the depressing emotions and smiled a knowing smile at BB. "He'd be a fool to pass you up."

"When you click with someone, you just do. I can relate to that"
Summer seemed lost in thought, probably reminiscing in her own memories no doubt. It was a depressed look on her face, so Brandy had hoped she hadn't brought up bad memories for Summer.
"He'd be a fool to pass you up."
"Live and learn. I guess. I won't go back home, no matter what happens. Nothing... good is waiting for me back there."
How selfish of her, she was going on and on about herself and she didn't even give Summer a real chance to let something off her shoulders.
"How about you Summer? You can tell me anything you want, I promise. What has got you all worked up lately? You mentioned your job, what is it that you do?"
