Rose smiled as Kimberly explained that manners were important to her, "It is good to be raised properly, I find today's youth can sometimes be a bit too...arrogant for my liking. Hmm, maybe arrogant is too strong? But that is how it seems, of course many vampires hold the same traits." As she thought of this she understood why a vampire would be so arrogant, but they would have to learn to fit in within human society, and this could well prove a difficulty for them. Of course at this time many people were still fascinated with vampires and their existence, but Rose was not fool enough to believe this would last. She hoped that they really could live peacefully with the humans, even though at times it proved difficult it was not impossible, though cults such as the fellowship of the Sun did not help the ease of the process.
"That is very true. I have to admit to being very curious about your kind. My grandma used to tell me stories about the vampires she had met and I was always so jealous of the life she lived. My grandmama was a witch."
Taken aback by ths little statement, Rose looked more closely at Kimberly, that may explain the hint of magic around her. There were many magical beings within the world, vampires, shifters and witches being a few, but humans, so far, only knew about vampires. Wondering just what sort of stories her grandmother had told her, she suspected the old lady would not have done so without making Kimberly aware of th dangers surrounding the knowledge. Wiccans and witches did not bother Rose, as they bothered some other supes, she believed it was a choice they had made. And as such who was she to judge, she had chosen her fate to become vampire when it was offered by her maker. She could have chosen death instead, but at the time Rose had a debt to collect, and she knew becoming a vampire would make it more possible for it to be collected.
"A witch? That is interesting, I haven't met many witches in my time. I have always been interested in why they choose to become witches, I'm sure some just feel the pull of the magic." How that would change your life, and in such a different way to becoming vampire. After many years as a vampire it becomes evident that, even despite all the politics and intrigues within their socitey, fate could still lay herself in your path. Rose had come to Shreveport as she knew there was a vampire bar hre, but she had believed it to be less...bustling than it was, and to discover so many supes in one place. She was also fascinated by the little town next to it, Bon Temps, it felt almost as if there was a supernatural crossroads somewhere nearby. Something pulling all these people who could sense the magic towards it. Giving her head a slight shake she took a sip of her True Blood. "Is Fangtasia all you expected it to be?"

"Tell me about it. I used to work at a local elementary school when I was still studying. That made me wanna think twice about having kids. I swear if I had acted the way they were acting there, Big Daddy would have thrown me across his knee and given me a proper spankin'." Kimberly said sourly. She hated how these days no one had any manners what so ever. That parents didn't teach their children to behave like respectable people.
"A witch? That is interesting, I haven't met many witches in my time. I have always been interested in why they choose to become witches, I'm sure some just feel the pull of the magic."
"I guess that's it. Grandma never told me anything about that, see my mama didn't want me to know about this nonsense as she called it. She thinks witchcraft is only for wierdos and people who ain't good at anything else," Kimberly said, fibbing. Well most of the things she had said where true but she just didn't quite yet want to reveal her own connection to magic.
"Is Fangtasia all you expected it to be?"
"It's actually a whole lot less scary than I thought it would be. You see the reason why I'm here is to get over my fear of vampires and other supernaturals. I've met them before but was always terrified in their presence," Kimberly explained carefully, hoping the other woman wouldn't laugh at her for it. All her reading and research had made Kimberly quite fearful but now it seemed silly to her how she had acted previously.

"I guess that's it. Grandma never told me anything about that, see my mama didn't want me to know about this nonsense as she called it. She thinks witchcraft is only for wierdos and people who ain't good at anything else,"
"Weirdos? I just adore the phrases humans are capable of coming up with." Rosse smiled as she watched Kimberly talk about her grandmother and mother. She found it hard to believe Kimberly had come across the craft herself, though not impossible, but there seemed something...nervous? about Kimberly as she spoke. But then maybe she is not comfortable discussing witchcraft, I am sure it unusual for her to find someone she could so openly discuss it with. Rose was not really paying much attention to what was going on around her, she was giving most of her attention to Kimberly as she was enjoying the conversation so much. She could sense something different but did not suspect more than her grandmother being a witch. She supposed Kimberly had snooped in something of her grandmothers and discovered her religion, she certainly knew about witchcraft, but did she ever think about trying it?
"It's actually a whole lot less scary than I thought it would be. You see the reason why I'm here is to get over my fear of vampires and other supernaturals. I've met them before but was always terrified in their presence,"
So she knows other supernaturals exist? I wonder just how much she knows? It was natural for people to fear vampires, they had been the stuff of nightmares and scary stories for centuries. It was ingrained into human society to fear the unknown. "It is sensible to fear something so powerful Kimberly. I cannot impress you how different we all are. Unfortunately there are still some vampires who do not wish to accept the changes that have been made in the past few years. Though please don't be fearful of me, I enjoy your presence, it is not irksome like those that wish to swoon at our feet." Rose frowned to herself, she was sure she might have said something out of turn there, but as Rose rarely spoke so openly to humans it was difficult for her to think of how things may be taken. She put it aside trusting Kimberly would not take anything she said in a wrong manner, and if so would say to her so she could correct herself.

"Oh, I have heard about those people, I think you call them fangbangers. Seems so strange to me, they seem to be all about themselves. As if what can a vampire do to them instead of give and take. It ain't normal to worship something that much." Kimberly said shuddering. She couldn't understand the livestyle herself, it seemed way to bizarre for her liking. Maybe she was just a naive southern girl from a strick Baptist family, not moving foward with the days.
"I'm really glad I met you. I'm so new around here and you've helped me a lot with my irrational fears. I think those Fellowship of the Sun nutjobs should all take a long walk of a short pier. I went to a meeting once because my mama forced me to go and I was horrified. I don't think it's natural for a church to preach hate to people," Kimberly rambled again, her voice rising as she spoke of the anti-vampire church.
"I'm sorry for rambling. I imagine it gets real tiresome for you to hear about those morons." Kimberly said blushing, realizing she had once again mispoken.
She really liked this vampire and hoped they could become friendly. Kimberly didn't know would vampires have human friends but she hoped they would.

"...I think you call them fangbangers. Seems so strange to me, they seem to be all about themselves. As if what can a vampire do to them instead of give and take. It ain't normal to worship something that much."
"Yes, they call themselves fangbangers." Rose wasn't really interested in most of them, unless they weren't so obvious about it, and of course human blood was intoxicating so sometimes she couldn't help but look at them with a bit of longing. "Kimberly don't underestimate what happens between a vampire and human, the humans gain enough from it to keep them happy. And coming back for more."
As Kimberly mentioned the fellowship of the Sun Rose could feel her lips curl into a snarl, it took a bit of effort to regain control of herself. Trying to unseratand humans was difficult sometimes, but they always seemed intent on putting themselves in deaths way. "Tell me, would you say the meeting was popular? I'm intrigued, is the congregation made up of intelligent or naive people? I just feel that sometimes they do not think ofr themselves and are led by this Newlin guy and do not question him."
Smiling Rose sipped her True Blood, setting it on the table she looked at Kimberly across the table. This was the longest conversation she had had with a human in a while, she was beginning to feel slightly protective over the girl. How was it a vampire could feel such things for a human? Though she knew it was possible, it seemed odd that people so different could get along so well.

"Maybe I'm just a naive southern girl from a Georgia plantation. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone should be allowed to live their lives as they wish but fangbangin' just ain't something I understand," Kimberly said shuddering. She hoped Rose wouldn't be offended but she couldn't see how anyone could have so little respect for themselves to throw themselves at the mercy of other people, vampire or not.
Rose's expression had hardened when the fellowship of the sun had been mentioned. She couldn't blame the other woman and she was pretty sure she herself would not be liked inside that church. Well she was human alright but not normal.
"Tell me, would you say the meeting was popular? I'm intrigued, is the congregation made up of intelligent or naive people? I just feel that sometimes they do not think ofr themselves and are led by this Newlin guy and do not question him."
"My mama thinks Mr. Newlin is so handsome and is the most famous person she has ever met. She just hangs to his every word. A lot of woman are like that there, they just worship him because he's on television a lot. A lot of people are just curious, I guess," she explained, not really understanding the phenomenon behind the church.
Kimberly was really pleased at how well she and Rose seemed to be hitting it off. She seemed like such a wonderful woman and the Fellowship could shove it if they thought people like her were monsters. It was the church and their hate that were monsters in Kimberly's eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I think everyone should be allowed to live their lives as they wish but fangbangin' just ain't something I understand,"
Rose thought about this, t made sense, but it also made sense to her that humans would worship something they feared...or were amazed by. Just look at all the celebrities they had worshiped even before vampires had revealed their existence. But, then again, there were different levels of this sort of thing, and it could be a bit irritating, though worth it if the fangbanger could get or give you something you could not. "I admit I never thought of trying to understand it, to me it was just something that is done." Rose frowned, she tried to imagine how she would have felt as a human, but it was not easy, not only was it so many years since she was human, but times were different then, so many more attended church with a deep rooted faith.
"My mama thinks Mr. Newlin is so handsome and is the most famous person she has ever met. She just hangs to his every word. A lot of woman are like that there, they just worship him because he's on television a lot. A lot of people are just curious, I guess"
Looking at Kimberly, Rose smiled, "Surely the old adage, 'curiosity killed the cat', should spring to mind? Yes, I think curiosity and charm are part of what draws them there, but there must be more to it. I would think fear may have a part to play, but still, we have explained our situation. I feel like the human race have progressed in so many ways, yet they still hold themselves back with their prejudice and ignorance." Rose shook her head and again looked to the humans on the dancefloor, she was in no mood to be pandered to and was grateful for Kimberly's company.

"Well everyone worships something. Different strokes for different folks. I personally love Days of Our Lives like a fat kid loves candy," Kimberly giggled at her passion of the soap opera. She had watched different soaps as long as she could remember, but DAYS was her number one.
"Yeah, I guess fear has a lot to do with the success of the Fellowship of the Sun. They are thumping the bible and playing up people's natural fears about the unknown. In my neck of the woods, people will do anything a holy man says, bacause they believe it to be the wish of Jesus." Kimberly said trying to get why people would be so open for hatred.
"If you don't mind me asking, is there something you miss about being human?" She asked, curious as to how an old vampire would view his human life. She hoped she wasn't being too bold with her questions.

"I personally love Days of Our Lives like a fat kid loves candy,"
"Days of Our Lives?" Rose had heard of this but she wasn't sure where from, it was just a random memory of something someone had said at some point. It was hard trying to keep up with human things sometimes, they always seemed to move so fast to her. Their lives were so short they tried to cram everything into it, and as vampires lived so long it was easier for them to tak things a bit slower, just like when Rose slipped off into her trancelike state, most vampires done this, Rose would think of the past while in hers, it was just a way of taking 'time out' to her.
"If you don't mind me asking, is there something you miss about being human?"
Such an unusually question to ask. It took rose a while to think of what there was she missed from being human, it was difficult, she had already lost her family before she was turned or it might have been that. She had also never had hope that one day she would have a family of her own, she was too busy looking after her brother and father, so what was is she missed most? "To be honest Kimberly, I can't remember ever being asked that, and it is a difficult question to answer. But I suppose what I miss the most is...the heat of the sun on a summers day while enjoying a picnic in a field. Such joy and simplicity in that act, you would think nothing of it."

"Days of Our Lives?"
"Oh it's this American soap opera that has been on television for ages. I've been watching since I was three years old and I'm still hooked. I mean, yes the stories are sometimes really stupid and make no sense but it's sooo addictive. Like right now I'm dying for Sami to find out that Nicole switched babies and Baby Grace that died a few months ago wasn't really Sami's daughter but Mia's baby who Nicole had switched at the hospital. Nicole is married to Sami's ex-husband and miscarried their baby but lied to EJ about it and stole Sami and EJ's baby to hang on to him." Kimberly said, starting a spirited ramble about her favourite television show. She could go on forever about it unless stopped.
"To be honest Kimberly, I can't remember ever being asked that, and it is a difficult question to answer. But I suppose what I miss the most is...the heat of the sun on a summers day while enjoying a picnic in a field. Such joy and simplicity in that act, you would think nothing of it."
"That's so sad. Never being able to be in sunlight again. Stepping on fresh grass in the heat of the early summer sun. That's one of my favourite things to do," Kimberly said, sending a sympathetic gaze in the woman's direction. She couldn't help but to feel a little sorry for this being, for the things she missed during the daytime hours.

Listening to Kimberly talk Rose could almost hear the jumble of words ready to pour out of her. She wasn't really big on tv, and what Kimberly was saying only helped confuse her more. "How could you watch such stuff? How could you possibly keep up with it?" Although thinking this, Rose was sure it was popular, these things always seem to be. I wouldn't be surprised if a vampire turns up on it soon. Tonight was proving to be not only fun, but informative, the more Rose learned about humans the more comfortable she felt able to integrate successfully into their society.
"Stepping on fresh grass in the heat of the early summer sun. That's one of my favourite things to do,"
As Kimberly looked at Rose, Rose quickly glanced away, she could feel tears coming to her eyes, and although she liked and almost trusted Kimberly she was not about to show any weakness. Closing her eyes she imagined the heat on her skin, it was such a wistful thought but most vampires couldn't help but remember how it felt. Turning back to Kimberly she finished off her drink. "In fresh grass with bare feet, early in the morning, how you felt the heat on your skin but the cold dew on your feet. But I have so much more now than I did when I was human."

"How could you watch such stuff? How could you possibly keep up with it?"
"It's not that complicated actually. I can keep up fine because things normally don't move that fast on DOOL. I mean, the storyline that I just explained about has been going on for the last 8 months or so," Kimberly giggled affectionately. She knew soaps was thought of as the lowest possible form of entertainment but she didn't care, she loved her daily soaps, no matter what anyone said.
As she observed the change in Rose's demeanor after her comment about walking on grass, Kimberly felt really bad. Although she was trying her best to disguise it, Rose seemed upset for a moment.
"In fresh grass with bare feet, early in the morning, how you felt the heat on your skin but the cold dew on your feet. But I have so much more now than I did when I was human."
"I'm sorry, I just keep yammering about things that you are unable to do anymore. It's very rude and thoughtless of me," she said, offering a sincere apology. Kimberly wished she would just know how to keep her mouth shut sometimes.
"There are a lot of advantages of being a vampire I imagine. You never age meaning you can stay beautiful for eternity, you are strong and feared and nothing seems to be out of limits for you, aside from sunshine," Kimberly said thoughfully, thinking of all the positives of Rose's lifestyle.

Smiling Rose looked at Kimberly, "Don't worry about it, I am enjoying our conversation, and it is good to remember things. Sometimes we live such long lives it is too easy to forget." Rose didn't want Kimberly feeling uncomfortable, it was the first time she had had a chance to sit down in this town and have a conversation she did not have to overly think about. She felt more relaxed around humans, vampires were always scheming and sometimes she just didn't trust her own kind. "Would you like another drink Kimberly?" Indicating the glass and looking to the floor for a waitress.
"There are a lot of advantages of being a vampire I imagine. You never age meaning you can stay beautiful for eternity, you are strong and feared and nothing seems to be out of limits for you, aside from sunshine,"
"Yes, there are advantages. I suppose forever young as seen as a bonus, though it might surprise you to learn there are vampires who were turned at a more...mature age than myself." Rose thought about all these points Kimberly had made, she realised she had much to be grateful for, but she did not know a vampire who did not, at some time, have a touch of nostalgia. "Limits....sunshine is the major one, and I suppose now humans know about us it is not so bad."
