Rylan followed Pam silently to the bar. She was thankful that they weren't going somewhere quiet, that might be a fight Rylan couldn't win.
The female vampire began talking about giving her a job to give her an opportunity to pay back the dress and even earning more money to start her living in Shreveport. This was surprising for Rylan after the reception she had received in Fangtasia. Although Pam was right in assuming that she had previously done pretty much whatever she felt like. The pack really had no idea what was to be done with her so they usually left her alone, which was fine with Rylan.
"Alright, so I take this job and pay back my debt and earn some money. This is a little more than a friendly gesture. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely down for making some money but I just don't understand the why behind it. Neither one of you like me or care about me but you would let me mooch off of you?"
Rylan also didn't know if she could get all the rules down. "So, I get the rules and what happens if I forget one? Do I have to pay a fine? Does that mean I have to let a vamp suck me dry? I don't know if I can take that risk...even if my siblings aren't alive, I have to believe they are and I won't stake my life on your terms."
As she sat down on the bar stool her mind began to wander. This was a lose/lose situation. "I just don't know how I can get out of this unscathed. Please don't take offense, I just don't know what to do."

Pam rubbed her temples. It was a gesture she had seen many times by humans who were stressed or frustrated. Before vampires had been made public, she often used this to express herself in their world. It was unnecessary for her to do now but she had adopted some actions out of habit.
"I can understand how conflicted you must feel. You are right on both assumptions, we don't like you and could care less about you but with how things are right now I don't see how that would be possible. However, you are new to the area, you were attacked by the FOTS and there is still the question of your missing family. Eric wishes to know everything that goes on in his area. That is why we need you under our thumb."
Pam let out some air in the form of a sigh. " I am not an idiot, I know that you won't know every rule right away but they are something that you should read every night if you are to work for me. Nothing so dramatic as any of those things would happen to you. If you want the job, go to the hotel and wait for me to send you your first assignment. If not, check out and find someone else to take pity on you. In the mean time, I have other things that need my attention. If you have any questions please forward them to the front desk. Sleep well, you will have a lot to do if you are still there in the morning."
Pam pushed off the bar stool and headed towards the office. She glanced back to see if Rylan was following Pam with her eyes. When the vampire was satisfied that Rylan was lost in thought, she quickly changed direction and headed towards the basement. As she entered the basement area Pam giggled. Every time she gave Jessica an assignment things always turned out interesting. "Jessica, when I told you to get the information from him by any means necessary, I wasn't suggesting that you try and sleep with him. That would be very unusual for a vampire and shifter to get together but if you can stand the smell, then by all means go for it."
She cocked an eyebrow at the fully nude Vaughn. "Not that I could blame you for trying. It is a shame some of the tastiest looking treats come in the worst kind of packaging." She turned to face Jessica. "Did you find out anything? I really don't have a lot of time to waste with this."
