The sun hit Delaney's face and she stretched out her body. She felt a twig poked her in the back and she flinched. She sat up more quickly now and tried to gather her surroundings.
She had worn herself out going full speed in cheetah form and had fallen asleep in someone's back yard. Where was she? Delaney found her cell phone next lying next to her hand. When she picked it up she nearly cursed. The battery was dead.
Delaney pushed her hair back off of her face and did a loose braid. She didn't have a hair tie but she figured that it was so wild it should hold on its own. She looked down at her outfit and stood up. It wasn't really dirty at all, just some leaves stuck to the butt of her pants.
She approached the old farm house and took a deep breath. It smelled warm and inviting. Some one had spent a lot of time on the flowers surrounding the porch. Maybe Delaneys luck was changing. She lifted the knocker and gave it a good pound. "Here goes nothing."

That day his road crew had been working off Renard Parish road, so instead of going to Merlotte's per usual, he had decided to go do the family bonding thing and visit his little sis...the only problem with that was she wasn't home.
That was just his luck too, oh well. He began to rumage through the fridge lookin' for things to make a sandwhich. He was just about ready to get things fixed when he heard a knock on the door. Part of him hoped it was Sookie but then why would she knock, unless she lost her keys!
He ran to open the door with a big grin on his face. When he saw the young woman before him his smiled faltered a bit. This girl was definately not Sookie...but man was she ever hot!! He cleared his throat. "Um, hey there. You aren't Sookie."

Delaney had just been about to leave when the door flew open. The guy was smiling brightly at her...that was a little strange...until she realized he was expecting someone else.
"Um, hey there. You aren't Sookie."
Delaney took a step back. What had she been thinking?? This guy could be a serial killer waiting for his next kill...she shook her head. "No, I am not Sookie. Sorry to disappoint." A whisp of hair came loose and she quickly tucked it behind her ear. "Actually, I am in a bit of a bind. You see, my cell phone is dead and I need to get ahold of my brother. He has probably been worried sick..." Delaney tended to run at the mouth when she was nervous. There was no point in telling a total stranger her life story. When she looked up into his eyes however, the ice exterior she built began to dissolve. She wanted to tell him every thing he asked, give him everything he wanted from her...it was a very interesting feeling and when she had settled in Delaney was going to really have to research this quandary.
She smiled brightly at him. "Do you mind if I use your phone? Sorry if it causes you any trouble."

"No, I am not Sookie. Sorry to disappoint."
Shxt, had Jason really said that? He felt like the biggest loser on the planet right now. It's just...you only heard this kind of thing in fairy tales. A beautiful stranger is lost and needs your help looking for...
"Actually, I am in a bit of a bind. You see, my cell phone is dead and I need to get ahold of my brother. He has probably been worried sick..."
Sweet mother of mercy, she wasn't looking for her husband or fiancée...nope this girl was looking for her brother. Jason gave her his world wide famous lopsided grin. This could definitely work in his favor.
"Do you mind if I use your phone? Sorry if it causes you any trouble."
Jason felt elated. "Heck no! I sure don't mind and don't think another thing about about it. You definitely aren't causing me any trouble! Please come on in and use the telephone."
He stepped aside to invite her into the house. He looked around to see if anything was needing a bit of tiding up. Jason should have known that Sookie always did her best to keep the house nice. "Hey, would you like a drink or some food...gosh, I don't think we exchanged names. The name is Stackhouse...uh Jason Stackhouse." He extended his hand for a shake...lord had he ever been more lame?

"Heck no! I sure don't mind and don't think another thing about about it. You definitely aren't causing me any trouble! Please come on in and use the telephone."
Delaney smiled brightly. Soon she would be able to get a hold of Vaughn and then they could figure out a new game plan. "Thank you so much. I truly appreciate your kindness." She stepped inside the house. It was exactly what you would think an old farmhouse would look like. The smell was amazing but from what she could tell, there was another who was here more often than this guy.
"Hey, would you like a drink or some food...gosh, I don't think we exchanged names. The name is Stackhouse...uh Jason Stackhouse."
Jason Stackhouse huh, well that was an interesting last name. Delaney giggled as she took his hand in hers. "Delaney Harris, it is a pleasure to meet you." His hand felt warm and covered hers completely. She could feel the color flood into her cheeks. "Um, uh..." Delaney couldn't believe she was a loss for words. She always knew the right thing to say in any situation. Today was the first of many things yet to come she mused.
"No, well, yes, I would like something to drink. Maybe just a glass of water if that is not too much trouble." She followed him into the kitchen and noticed he was making himself a sandwich. Her stomach growled at the sight of the turkey breast. "Maybe a sandwich couldn't hurt either..."

Sookie was out getting some of those much needed supplies to keep a house running, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent and all the other needs. Not to mention some drinks, some sweet tea to be exact and a bit of food. She had some things for lunch and dinner, but some snack foods would not hurt. With her back seat full, Sookie pulled into her driveway and noticed her brother's car already there. "Well, well, well Jason. Aint you something else!" Sookie said aloud as she grabbed the bags, as many as she could, and headed inside.
Up the steps and in the front door, the bags were a bit heavy, but Sookie did work out so she was not too tired. "Jason Stackhouse. What in the world are you doing here?" She called out as she entered into her kitchen. "Oh, my, um!" Sookie said as she just dropped her bags. Jason had a girl over to her little sisters house. A girl, to do things to, bad things, that are only done in ones house. "What in the world Jason? A girl here? Really!" Sookie said, a bit angered. But hey, why else would there be a girl in here. He sure did not have her over for dinner. The girl looked tired, like Jason just ran through her. "Come on now!"

Jason spun around quickly when he heard his sister's voice. "Hey Sook, this here is..." but before could say anything his sis lit into him quicker than electricity in water.
His jaw dropped. He didn't even really know Delaney and now she probably would never want to. Jason slammed the fridge. "Dxmm it Sookie! I would never bring a girl to GRAN'S house! If I wanted to have sex it wouldn't be where my grandmother lived! God, sis! I was never that bad! Even when I was shxtty to you I would never violate Gran's home."
He was hotter than fire..."Delaney needed to use the phone...her cell phone died. I am goin out for a minute to cool down. Excuse me Delaney. Fxck you Sookie." Jason walked out the back door and slammed the screen door shut.

Delaney shifted nervously. "Um, well this is awkward." She hadn't wanted to cause any trouble and now she was stuck in the middle of a sibling battle.
"For once I am glad that it isn't me and Rylan. She got me into enough trouble when she would wander off in her animal form."
"I am truly sorry if I caused a problem. My name is Delaney Harris and I am in a bit of a bind. I also seemed to have gotten lost and passed out in your front yard. If my cell phone worked I would never be so rude as to impose on a stranger."
Delaney smiled warmly at Sookie. "I just hope that the pack hasn't found Vaughn and Rylan. I hope that we made it safely under the radar."
Her stomach growled. "I hate to sound whiney but Jason had just offered to make me a sandwich...would you mind if I continued what he left off?"

Sookie's jaw dropped at Jason's reaction. What else was she to think, that her brother, considering his past, was being kind and generous to a stranger. Or would she think of what she did considering his past? Of course the latter. But with this new Jason, it was getting harder and harder to tell. She didn't feel bad for yelling at Jason, she was not going to fall for a guilt trip. But that would be handled later.
She looked at the girl, the girl who had fell asleep outside and her cell died. And now, with the thought that entered Sookie's mind, was in a bit of danger. It seemed. And animal form, she was a shifter. After hearing this, Sookie could tell from the general tone that the girl was a supe. Sook's initial reaction was to repeat what she just heard and fix the problem, but that was not the best way to meet someone. "Uh" she paused, "Im so sorry for that little meeting. I had not clue. If you knew my brother and were me, youda thought the same thang. I promise!" Sookie said apoligetically. "Of course you can have a sandwich. Of course, I just got these groceries. I think there is some turkey in there and colby cheese. Go at it. Make yourself at home!" She paused, "Excuse me for a second, go ahead and make what you need!" Sookie said as she put the animal form, the being lost, the missing people on the forefront of her mind and went to deal with Jason.
Walking outside, she found him. "Jason, look. I aint gonna say sorry for what I said. What else would you expect? I mean, knowing you, at least this old Jason, it seems like summtin youda done. I can't just expect you to be this chivalrous man all of a sudden. That takes time, alright. You gotta see where I was coming from?" She said with a stern tone as she watched him. No telling what this new emotional Jason would do next.

Jason was busy pacing outside. He was so angry at Sookie for the humiliation he felt at being called out like that in front of Delaney. He was trying to start over, dxmn it, he even apologized to Sookie for being a rotten guy in the past.
When he heard her approach he braced himself for another lashing. Instead he got a NOT apology and asked what she was supposed to think. "I don't know what you shoulda thought sis but dang why did you have to call me out like that in front of Delaney. She don't know nothing about me and if she decides to stay around here, I want her to get the impression of this me, not the old one." He crossed his arms. "What should we do? She obviously needs help and what if she don't find her brother? Where will she stay?" Jason was hoping that she would stay with him but knowing Sookie she would volunteer to keep the hot girl outta Jason's clutches.

Sookie just looked at her brother, she didn't know what the hell to think. He was trying to change and Sookie respected that, but hell. "Well Jason, I didn't mean to mess up your game. I can't help that its hard to get used to this new Jason, though I do like him way better, it just is different. I'm sure she has enough on her mind than to worry about a little quarrel between brother and sister." Sookie replied to her brother, thinking bout what she just heard in the girls mind.
"Listen Jason, now don't go getting all mad again!" His emotions sure were something else as of late. "She is in there making some food real quick, but, I kinda heard her think something and I really think she is in trouble. I mean, she fell asleep outside the house!" Sookie was in almost a whisper. The girl did fall asleep outside Sookie's house, what if it was a setup? No, no, she had heard inside her head and if it were a trap, Sookie would have heard something. "This girl is looking for her brother and sister I think and they, they, they are in some kind of trouble themselves. She seems worried. Sookie wondered if Jason knew anything about shifters, and packs and that whole world. She had never really asked and was sure not about to let out Sam's secret. "We gotta make sure she is safe, she can stay here as long as we can get her too Jason."

"Alright then, I will go talk to her and apologize for bein a tool and we will see what she wants to do from there."
He made his way back up into the kitchen and turned beat red. This was gonna be embarrasin' and Jason was gonna have to suck it up.
Jason saw her with her legs folded up in the chair and her mouth full of food and his heart melted. As Delaney paused her chewing she tucked another wasp of hair behind her ear. This girl was just somethin' else. "Hey Delaney, sorry if I came across rude. I am tryin to keep a different life style now and some people aren't seeing things the same way as I do, if that makes any sense." He looked in her eyes and his heart skipped a beat. Jason swallowed hard. "My sis, Sookie and I think you might be in a spot of trouble and we want you to know that you are welcome to stay here for as long as you want with out worry. We don't expect nothin in return ever and I want you to find your brother."
Jason looked down and licked his lips. He never had been one for giving speeches.

Delaney had one foot in the seat of the chair and the other one was dangling down when Jason came back inside. He looked so cute with a little scowl on his face. She started to giggle and nearly choked on her sandwich.
As she took a drink of water she could hear the concern in his voice for her safety. "Oh, well, no I don't think you were rude. It is hard to not get offended when you are being attacked, especially when it is some one you care about."
Delaney smiled when he looked into her eyes. Before she could blink "Oh really?! I would love to stay here with you! I know my brother would be really happy that I found some one who would be nice enough to take care of me...not that I need it. I begin to ramble when I am nervous...I will stop talking now."
"What is the matter with me? I have been around many good looking guys back home. None of them ever got me this tongue tied before...snap out of it Delaney. You are going to be living with this guy until you can find Vaughn and Rylan. No need to advertise that you are easy or something ridiculous like that."
She leaned her head thoughtfully into her hand. "I guess the best place to look would be the Living Dead Hotel if I can't reach him on the phone. That was where we were supposed to meet on the 10th...wait, what day is it today?" Delaney hadn't really thought about how long she had been sleeping. Surely it had only been 8 hours.

Sookie let out a sigh. This new Jason was easier to deal with but at the same time more difficult. But if he was going to actually be there for her and help when need be then she would deal with his bs. Jason walked back in and Sookie took yet another deep breath and followed. He was giving his apology speech which seemed a bit short but to the point, that was Jason for ya. He had sure jumped into the her being in trouble. Subtle was not his nature. Sookie either but she knew when and when not to burst things out. But hell, at least it was all out on the table.
"You sure can stay here at my house with me!" Sookie said, kinda looking at Jason. Had he just moved in or something cause he sure did not live here. Suddenly Sookie heard the thoughts coming from Delaney. "Jason don't live here!" Sookie mumbled in response to Delany's thoughts. Oh crap She thought to herself. This was happening too much as of late. But quickly Sookie ignored it and listened to the girl. "Well baby, it is the 11th today. I'm sorry. You musta got a bit confused or slept too long!" Sook smiled in comfort. "We can check the Living Dead Hotel, I know a vampire there who runs a shop. She might be able to help us out!" Sookie replied thinking of Pam and the clothes.

Jason flushed a little when he heard Sookie statement of him not living here. "Uh, yeah, sorry about that. I don't usually stay here. I work on the road crew and I just had stopped in for lunch. I wasn't tryin' to give you the wrong impression. I live across town in our parents house, that is, I don't still live with my parents, they well, they passed away when we were little."
He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "I mean if you wanna stay with me you are more than welcome but I am a little infamous around these parts and I wouldn't want you to get stuck goin' out of the gate." Jason actually would love to have Delaney stay in his house and eventually share his bed, however he wanted to do this the right way.
"I can't screw this up. Gotta prove that I am no dummy. Gotta find her brother first, ask her on a lot of dates and then eventually maybe she will want to be my roommate..."
He looked wary as he heard Sookie mention she knew a vampire at the Living Dead Hotel. "Who is this vampire Sook and should Delaney really go down there alone to see them?"
Jason looked down at his feet. "Not like I'd be any use. If the vampire wanted they could use my face for an accordion. I wish I could keep everyone safe...I am just a stupid, weak human. D*mn, why am I being so hard on myself? Shake it off Stackhouse, you tha man, you tha man..."
"I don't know if I can go with her because of work Sook but would you be able to go down? She really shouldn't go alone."
