"Brandy"
Brandy didn't speak a word, she was muffling her face into her knees trying to work up the courage to say something to him.
"Brandy, it's Sam. Come on babe, open up."
He couldn't see her, but she had rose up her head a bit, looking at the door as if she was looking right at him. She wanted to open up but - -
"No, no you don't want in here! It smell's like a frat party in here and.. and I'm a terrible mess.. and and.. once you find out why I am even here, your going to - - Summer.. can you slip like, the whiskey bottle under the door?"
Maybe if she drank a little more she could actually make it as far as unlocking the bathroom door...
"Please Brandy, let me in. I've been worried sick about you."
When she heard that, her heart sank and she reached up and unlocked the door. He wasn't going to like what she had to say - and maybe, maybe she didn't have to tell him at all! She could... work around it couldn't she? Just uh.. not tell him and see the queen in secret? Yeah.. maybe...
Brandy inched back toward the toilet, her heart pounding more that she had thought it would. She was starting to sober up, and she didn't think she liked that thought at all...

"No, no you don't want in here! It smell's like a frat party in here and.. and I'm a terrible mess.. and and.. once you find out why I am even here, your going to - - Summer.. can you slip like, the whiskey bottle under the door?"
Sam pulled a face. Now he was really concerned. Why was she hiding away in there? And why was she drinking so heavily this early in the day? All questions that he wanted answers to, eventually.
"Brandy..." Sam spoke softly, whatever he was about to say faded into obscurity. Then the door clicked again, it was open. He pushed it open lightly and he peered inside and his face fell and his heart sank. She looked in a real state. "Oh Brandy" he knelt down beside her and stroked her hair. "I've been so d*mn worried about you. When you weren't answering my calls and then you're cell was off. I didn't know what to think."
Sam reached out his hands to her. "Thank God you're alright." Sam looked up at Summer. "Thank you for looking after her."

Summer watched on anxiously as Sam tried desperately for Brandy to open up the door. His worry and concern etched on his face and in his voice.
"I've been so d*mn worried about you. When you weren't answering my calls and then you're cell was off. I didn't know what to think.
Summer raised her eyebrows at this. Brandy hadn't told her about that part. That was something for another time. The two lovers deserved some privacy.
"Listen, guys. I'm sorry to interupt. But I'm gonna make myself scarce so you can talk. I'll be in the bedroom if you need me." Summer rested a hand on Sam's shoulder gently and gave Brandy a thin smile and a nod of reassurance.

"I've been so d*mn worried about you. When you weren't answering my calls and then you're cell was off. I didn't know what to think."
Brandy cringed, wishing she was still passed out in the bathtub. There was a very good reason why her phone had been off, she had turned it off right after her phone call to Kimberly and Kyle last night...
Brandy was silent as Sam said his thanks to Summer, and Summer mentioned being in the bedroom. Brandy got the hint that Summer wasn't going to be giving her the rest of that whiskey anytime soon. Once Sam was inside, Brandy had reached behind him and shut the door. It wasn't anything to do with Summer, she just felt she should close it. With a sigh, Brandy had took her seat on the covered toilet but didn't look at Sam.
"You smell good... much better than I do.."
She was fiddling nervously with her hands, staring at his plaid shirt as if it was the only way she could actually talk to him. Right now, it was.
".. I got myself into a really big mess this time Sam. Your not going to be happy about it. Like, a bigger mess then just me going to Dallas tomorrow. We are talking like.. a big big mess. Of epic proportions."

Sam gave Summer an appreciative smile as she walked away. Brandy closed the door behind him and sat perched on the toilet seat. She looked very sheepish. "You smell good... much better than I do.."
Sam said nothing to the comment. It looked more like a nervous gesture than anything else. She began to fidget nervously, wringing her hands and finding it hard to look up into his eyes.
".. I got myself into a really big mess this time Sam. Your not going to be happy about it. Like, a bigger mess then just me going to Dallas tomorrow. We are talking like.. a big big mess. Of epic proportions."
Sam's face fell, his body tensed up. Something was bothering her, something she was trying to get out into the open. He shifted uncomfortably on the floor beside Brandy. "What could be so bad that you lock yourself away in here. Hell what could be so bad that you've drunken yourself into a stupor before midday?" Sam was letting his frustrations seep out of him.
"Brandy" he knelt up so he was face to face with her. "Look at me. Tell me what's going on. Please"

"What could be so bad that you lock yourself away in here. Hell what could be so bad that you've drunken yourself into a stupor before midday?"
Even Brandy knew how extremely out of character it was for her. She sighed and took in a deep breath, letting it out slowly. She might as well just tell him and get it all out into the open before she worried him even more.
"Brandy"
Uh oh. He had come closer, which meant he was wanting her to look at him. That would make this even harder.
"Look at me. Tell me what's going on. Please"
Brandy gulped, and forced herself to look at him. She stared at him for a moment, then took another deep breath. This was a lot easier to tell Summer than it was to tell him.
"Last night I decided to go out by the forest and practice my magic. I ended up kind of.. pulling of the beginning of a teleportation spell when I was spotted by someone. His name, I learned was Matt - a really nice guy... a.. gay vampire who... "
Of course it didn't matter he was gay, Brandy knew that, but for some reason she just popped it into the conversation.
"... was quickly intrigued by my magic and who also turned out to be a servant of the.. uh.. queen of Louisiana? Like... the queen vampire of Louisiana..."
Her body kind of shyed' away from Sam at that moment and she brought her knees up to her chest on top of that toilet. Now was time for the real ramble....
".. I agreed to meet his queen. I mean, he was so nice and I guess I wasn't really thinking of the consequences. So I went with him to Fangtasia. And I met the queen, uh.. Sophia she called herself. Matt told her how good I was with magic, and she quickly became interested in hiring me. Well, not before she told me only someone exceptional could be her ally...
... and before I knew it, I was defending my skills and my magic. Because the last thing I wanted was for her to turn me away and decide to come after my friends or you because I .. made her mad or something by turning her down. So I agreed to help her...
.. by putting up a protection spell in the daytime when she was sleeping so she wouldn't be attacked. I even got Kimberly and Kyle involved because I needed them for the spell to be strong enough...
... but now it is my duty to be at her beckon call, to be her eyes and ears in the day time, and to assist her whenever she needs the help of a witch. Officially, I have become the little pet witch for the queen of Louisiana..
... and she also insisted, both her and Matt actually insisted, that Matt occupies me and Damian to Dallas because they don't want me to be damaged goods."
Brandy only just now took a breath.
".. and this is why I am here, in Summer's bathroom with the lingering smell of my puke lingering in the air... because, like I said, I screwed up really really bad this time."

Brandy told Sam everything. No stone was left unturned. He looked dumbfounded. Shellshocked by her revelations. He was struggling to process the wealth of information he now had. Magic. Vampires. The Queen of Louisiana. Dallas.
Sam sat back on his heels involuntarily. He started to simmer, it was bad enough she was heading off to Dallas with a virtual stranger, a Werewolf of all things. Now she was going with a Were and a Vampire!
His fists were clenching tightly, the knuckles white. He was growing increasingly more irritable the more he thought about it. Suddenly he shot up onto his feet and moved back a few steps. "Please tell me you're kidding me Brandy. Please." he threw his hands up over his face and made an incoherent growling noise.
"You made a deal with the f*cking Vampire Queen?" Sam seethed at this more than anything. "You know you can't possibly trust that b*tch, right?" Sam's thoughts were random and chaotic. He couldn't focus and his energy was all out of synch. He couldn't believe Brandy had gotten herself into something this deep.
"This isn't stupid Brandy. It's dangerous and beyond risky. What do you think will happen once she's bored of you, huh? Once your stock plummets, she could...." he trailed off unable to say the words aloud. Though he was pretty sure she would understand exactly what he meant.

It felt like it took an eternity to get a reaction out of him, any reaction actually. She had let everything out, all at once, only taking in one breath in between her rambling that flowed from her mouth in one fluid motion. Maybe she was hoping he would miss half of it? Unfortunately as he stood up to his feet quite abruptly and put his hands to his face, she knew he had heard every word.
"Please tell me you're kidding me Brandy. Please."
She didn't even crack a smile, a smirk, nothing.
"You made a deal with the f*cking Vampire Queen?"
Brandy was shocked that it actually sounded like he knew her, why would Sam know about the vampire queen? Was there something that he had kept from Brandy or was she the only one kept out of the loop until yesterday? Not to mention that it was really weird hearing swear words come out from his lips..
"You know you can't possibly trust that b*tch, right?"
Brandy's face had turned sheet white.
"This isn't stupid Brandy. It's dangerous and beyond risky. What do you think will happen once she's bored of you, huh? Once your stock plummets, she could...."
"Go on. Say it."
Brandy was now on her feet, and a bit too quickly - because she had to sit down again when a rush of nausea flew over her. It was bad when you were trying to sober up but still were a little too drunk to sober up.
She brought her hand up to her head and cringed as a headache seeped through her. d@mn headaches, and this wasn't a nice one either.
"She will turn on me right? Send someone to kill me in my sleep if I disobey her? Don't tell me I f*cked up Sam Merlotte, because I know very well I did. But I would much, MUCH rather have that woman as my ally than my enemy - you get what I'm saying?"
Brandy's voice was laced with anger, but it wasn't meant to be directed toward him - it was meant to be directed to herself. This wasn't exactly something she could get out of - what was done, was done.
".. don't worry about me and my fate, Sam. I brought this on myself. It was the wrong place and the wrong time, but I will uphold my end of my deal with the queen and I will protect her as much as I can - and serve her, to the best of my ability while she is here. That way, I can be reassured that she won't turned on me.. or the ones that I care about."

Brandy went off on one of her infamous tangents. Only this time she seemed angry rather than amusing and rambling. His frustration wasn't subsiding. The thought of Brandy out of reach for days, in the company of a Werewolf and a Vampire just made him fit to explode.
"Goddammit!" all the rage and frustration exploded in one word. He began to pace, though pacing in a modest bathroom is difficult. "You're in the debt of the Vampire Queen, think about that for a minute. You seriously think she'll let you go so easy? I won't lose you to a f*cking vampire, Brandy. I just won't."
Sam leant against the bathroom door, and slid down it so he was sitting against it. He expelled an exasperated sigh. The fear of Brandy being swept off her feet by a Vampire was almost too much for Sam to contemplate. His mind was running a mile a minute. Fear. Anger. Guilt. Frustration. Stress.
"Brandy...." his voice was softening slightly. "You cannot trust her." his head was lowered and his hands were clasped together across his legs. "What assurance she's given you is worthless. I don't know her, but I know enough about Vampire hierarchy to know that you don't get to be King or Queen by being nice to people. You have to be cold, ruthless and manipulative." He raised his head to look at Brandy, his blue eyes full of despair. "She is using you"

"Goddammit!"
This outburst had thrown Brandy off quite a lot. He was frustrated with her, and she was with him. But.. it wasn't the kind of frustration she had with just anybody. She was frustrated because he was. Though, she had to be honest with herself. Just seeing him in front of her - even though he was giving her the lecture of a LIFETIME, she still loved the guy to all hell.
You cannot trust her. What assurance she's given you is worthless. I don't know her, but I know enough about Vampire hierarchy to know that you don't get to be King or Queen by being nice to people. You have to be cold, ruthless and manipulative."
Cold. Ruthless. Manipulative. Brandy had to admit that she knew the queen was being purposely nice to her. And Brandy fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Vampires in general didn't put much stock in witches, least of all vampire queen and kings. At least now Brandy knew she couldn't trust the queen - as much as she wanted too. But there were other.. aspects, however, that she did trust.
"She is using you"
Now why did that get to her most of all?
"Dammit Sam, you have got to start trusting somebody. You are not going to lose me. I think everything I've done for.. us should be proof of that enough. Call it stupid luck, call it faith or fate or whatever. But if even if you don't trust the vampire queen.. at least trust me. And before you tell me that you do, then put a little more stock in us. And above all, this is life. If the vampire queen changes her mind and ends up killing me, then boo to me and my stupid luck."
The words just sort of.. happened, like most things Brandy happened to say without thinking. Maybe she was underestimating the way Sam felt about her, maybe she was just having trouble facing the realism of the entire situation.
"You protect me enough, Sam, let me at least protect you a little bit. I understand I cannot trust her, and I.. I promise to be careful. I have to have a little bit of faith in the whole situation at the very least.. everything happens for a reason. The full moon, the magic, running into Matt and then the queen. Maybe it is just the path I am suppose to take."

"Dammit Sam, you have got to start trusting somebody. You are not going to lose me. I think everything I've done for.. us should be proof of that enough.
Then she was off like a shot again. Speaking a million miles to the gallon. Mainly about trust and of fate. Her final words made his heart break. "If the vampire queen changes her mind and ends up killing me, then boo to me and my stupid luck."
Sam moved over towards Brandy, his hands at the sides of her legs. He looked up at her with desperate eyes. "Don't. Don't you dare even think that." she continued to speak, but by this point Sam wasn't really thinking straight anymore.
He let her get it all out and he looked at her, his eyes glazing over. "You don't have to protect me." he kissed her forehead.

"Don't. Don't you dare even think that."
Brandy's eyes had softened, she had never been afraid of death. She found it pointless in being afraid of something you had no control over. But, she could also appreciate that Sam wasn't too keen on the idea of losing his girlfriend to the queen of Louisiana either.
"You don't have to protect me."
His lips pressed against her forehead and she closed her eyes, feeling like the kiss swept the headache away and made everything alright again. With a soft sigh, she leaned her forehead against his and kept her eyes closed for a moment.
"Of course I do Sam. Please don't underestimate how deeply I am in love with you. It scares even me at the best of times. But I was naive in not realizing I should of been protecting you from having to feel this way. It's my fear of wanting to hang onto you so badly that I forget how girlfriend's are suppose to act"
Certainly not like her, no doubt. She thought back to some of the things she told Summer and she leaned back again. As she did so, she casually got a glance of the time on her watch.. she should at least settle down for a nap shouldn't she? Tomorrow was a long day.
"I'm keeping you from work again. Terry probably hates me by now, as it has been my fault again since the last time. You can go back to work Sam, I'll drive myself back to the duplex and catch up with you later.
Well, that was the thought anyway as she stood up again and stumbled. Sh!t bricks, she was still drunk? She hated being such a light weight but she really didn't want to inconvenience Sam anymore. She forced herself to shake it off and tried her best to walk in a straight line out of the bathroom.
Once she was out she turned toward Summer, giving a slight wave but purposely standing against the wall. She was going to collect herself, she told herself - maybe once she got outside the fresh air would clear her head.

Sam was shaking his head at her words. She just wasn't listening to him. She was so stubborn she made Sam look like a pushover. "It's not about love Brandy." she still wasn't listening and tried to get to her feet.
"I'm keeping you from work again. Terry probably hates me by now, as it has been my fault again since the last time. You can go back to work Sam, I'll drive myself back to the duplex and catch up with you later.
Brandy finally managed to get onto her feet after a few moments of trial and error. Sam shot up after her. She was leaning against a wall in Summer's room. Sam glanced over at her with a concerned look and back to Brandy. "Oh no you ain't driving the state you're in. I'll take you back to the trailer and you can sleep it off there." he looked to Summer for help.

"It's not about love Brandy."
Sam looked and sounded very irritated, as if he had been trying to get something across to her that she didn't quite understand. She caught the feeling and literally threw her hands up in the air in annoyance.
"Well, don't expect me to know what the heck you are getting at Sam, I'm still drunk!"
Out with the honesty, and feeling like she pretty much just wasted her breath. She couldn't even look at him, or at Summer, and only crossed her arms to look at the floor. This had furthered her decision to drive herself home and stay in the duplex.
"Oh no you ain't driving the state you're in. I'll take you back to the trailer and you can sleep it off there."
Brandy sighed, reaching into her pocket she pulled out her keys and threw them lightly toward Summer. If her car was going to be stuck at her place, Summer might as well have the keys. That was when Brandy noticed the whiskey on the table and reached for the bottle abruptly - she paid good money for that!
"I read on the internet that drinking after you have been throwing up a couple of times will sober you right up."
No. That didn't sound right at all. She put the bottle back down, and turned her attention to Sam - she didn't feel like being hunched over the toilet for another hour.
"I can't end it like this. I won't be able to get any sleep. Obviously I missed the point you were trying to get across and I don't know what to tell you, except that what is done is done and I can't get out of contract with the queen? I don't know what else you want from me."

"Well, don't expect me to know what the heck you are getting at Sam, I'm still drunk!"
Sam sighed and stood next to her. "It doesn't matter right now. What matters is you get some rest. We can talk later. When you're sober."
He looked down at her, she was slumped against the wall. Arms folded across her chest. She almost looked like she was sulking. If he wasn't so frustrated, it would almost look cute. That cuteness stopped when she reached for the bottle of whisky.
"I read on the internet that drinking after you have been throwing up a couple of times will sober you right up."
Sam was about to take the bottle off her, when Brandy put it back down herself. He smiled, she was starting to show some sense at least. Maybe she was sobering up already? She had just thrown her car keys to Summer. Another good sign.
Brandy turned her full attention to Sam. "I can't end it like this. I won't be able to get any sleep. Obviously I missed the point you were trying to get across and I don't know what to tell you, except that what is done is done and I can't get out of contract with the queen? I don't know what else you want from me."
Sam lightly brushed her hair with his hands, his brows furrowed. He really couldn't stay mad forever. "Brandy, I promise we can talk about it when I get you home." he shook his head, correcting himself. "No, sleep first. Talk later." he put his arm around Brandy in attempt to balance her and turned to look at Summer.
"Thanks, I appreciate you looking after her. You're a good friend." he smiled grimly.
