Oh good gravy. Brandy was on the road to Shreveport, following her mini g.p.s. on her phone to where Summer apparently was staying. A motel room, which was suppose to be Brandy's option and probably would be if it hadn't been for Sam.
A thought of Sam was suddenly bombarded with the passing of a liquor store. Brandy squealed her tires to do a U-turn right in the middle of the road and ended up almost swerving into the parking lot. She got out of the car, pulled out her credit card and slipped inside the sliding doors.
By the time she was done she had walked out with mostly hard liquor - Captain Morgen's Spiced Rum, and Cinnamon Whiskey, and mixers of orange juice and coke. No wussy woman cocktails for her tonight, no, she wanted the hard stuff.
Back in her car she went, after a weird glance from the clerk, and straight to the motel room where Summer said she lived. It was only a quick text she had sent Summer in the first place -
Summer. Girl's Night In. Where you at?
The night surely wouldn't end as quickly as it began. It didn't take long for the motel to appear on the right, and Brandy turned inside the lot and parked right in front Summer's hotel room. While mumbling to herself about nothing in particular, Brandy reached for the bag of liquor and carried it to the door - having to knock with her foot in the process.

Living easy, living free Season ticket on a one-way ride Asking nothing, leave me be Taking everything in my stride Dont need reason, dont need rhyme
The infamous guitar riff and gravelly vocals of the AC/DC song Highway to Hell let Summer know a text message had just arrived in her cell phones inbox. Laying on her bed, enjoying a relaxing dat off. Relaxing at least till the sun went down. Summer reached over to her bedside table and picked up the phone to check who the message was from.
Summer. Girl's Night In. Where you at?
The message was, unsurprisingly from Brandy. Summer didn't exactly have an abundance of friends at the moment. Summer's life was never easy and one of the bright spots was her frienship with Brandy. A girl she met coincidentally through a brief flirtation with Brandy's now boyfriend Sam Merlotte.
Summer started keying the letters to form a brief reply. In my motel room. #429. Could do with some company. See ya soon B. ~Summer~
She sat upright in her bed and got up to give herself a quick freshen up and to tidy the place up a bit. Her room at the Travelodge was quaint, but sufficient. It had everything that Summer required and she had all the privacy she needed. Though she did muse on how having her own place would be better.
"See how things go here first." she spoke to herself in a motherly tone.
Brandy must have been close by as there was a knock at her room door. Summer took a quick peek through the peephole, just incase. Happy to see Brandy there, she turned the lock and opened the door with a broad smile, giving her friend a warm hug.
"Hey, good to see you."

Summer had opened the door, greeting her with a tight hug. It was a welcoming gesture for Brandy, who had her arms up and away from Summer so that she wouldn't get bumped by her bags of alcohol.
"Hey, good to see you."
"Oh you as well Sum', you wouldn't believe the kind of night I've had!"
What a night it was indeed, and she wasn't looking forward to telling Sam about it either. Brandy had walked over to the nearest table, plopping down the 1.14 L' of Spiced Rum and Cinnamon Whiskey followed by the bag of pop and orange juice.
"I got myself in a real dozy this time, Sam is going to be livid because not only am I taking off to Dallas but.. meh, you best sit down for what I'm about to tell you. I'll need at least 10 minutes to start from the beginning. Have a round of shots with me"
Brandy looked to the bedside tables, quickly finding the four shot glasses she needed for their first round (how handy was that?!). She was going to let loose tonight, get completely wasted, and hopefully spend all day tomorrow forgetting her problems.
Brandy laid out the four glasses, filling 2 with the rum and 2 with the whiskey. Her fingertips reached for the shot glass with the spiced rum, hovering it in front of her lips as she waited for Summer to join her.
"I just want to say, I plan on getting sh!tfaced tonight, so lets do this right."

"Oh you as well Sum', you wouldn't believe the kind of night I've had!"
So it would seem as Brandy had an arm full of what looked like alcohol. Summer raised her eyebrows as she let her friend inside her room. As soon as Brandy got inside she plonked down to huge bottles, one was rum the other was whisky. Summer pulled a face at the whisky. Bad memories.

Sam livid? Dallas? Summer opened her mouth to speak, struggling to get the words out. A little shellshocked at her friends need for alcohol this early. "Uh Brandy, honey. Slow down. What are you talking about?"
Brandy was soon raiding the bedside tables and pulled out some of Summer's old shot glasses she put in there. Handy for the little bottles of vodka from the mini-bar. Summer watched in surprise as Brandy blazed past her and starting pouring out some rum into two glasses and whisky in the others.
"I just want to say, I plan on getting sh!tfaced tonight, so lets do this right."
Summer sat down on the bed, looking over at Brandy with a look of concern on her face. "What's with the booze this time in the morning? This ain't like you."

"Uh Brandy, honey. Slow down. What are you talking about?"
Summer had started to sound like Sam. Well, she wasn't quite as urgent about it as Sam usually was. She threw Summer a sympathetic glance and took the shot of rum in one swoop - placing the shot glass on the counter as she made a sour face and shook away the after taste.
"Blargh (the sound she made with the sour face) Well you see, I was practicing my magic last night - full moon and all does wonders for a witch as well."
Brandy was already reaching for the other shot glass of whiskey, tilting it up to her lips and slamming it back as Summer mentioned something about it being morning and it not being like Brandy.
Brandy had to agree, already pouring herself a refill of whiskey. She liked how the cinnamon burned her throat afterward.
"I am in the kind of mood where I want to forget everything that is going on for an entire day before I have to face my responsibilities tomorrow."
She was staring at the 3rd shot glass full with amber liquid, pursing her lips as she rolled her tongue over her lips. This was already starting to go down smoother than the last couple shots.
"As I was saying, last night I was doing my magic and I ran into a vampire. Well, the vampire ran into me. A darling gentlemen, gay I assume, saw some potential in me and my magic..."
She slammed the 3rd one back. Head rush. She leaned against the counter, her hands behind her and resting against the hard surface.
".. potential that has lead me into employment with the vampire queen of Louisiana."

Brandy knocked back a glass and screwed her face up in distaste. "Blargh (the sound she made with the sour face) Well you see, I was practicing my magic last night - full moon and all does wonders for a witch as well."
Summer nodded, knowing only full well what the moon cycle represented. Last night she had her first run in Shreveport and it was oddly relaxing, but even better to get the day off. Alcide really was a great boss. Summer shook her head as Brandy poured even more drink out.
"I am in the kind of mood where I want to forget everything that is going on for an entire day before I have to face my responsibilities tomorrow."
Brandy knocked back another shot. Summer was starting to get concerned. Summer was no party pooper, but it wasn't even midday yet. Seeing her friend seek solace in alcohol like this was a little distressing.
"Bra..." Summer was cut off as Brandy continued her explanation. "As I was saying, last night I was doing my magic and I ran into a vampire. Well, the vampire ran into me. A darling gentlemen, gay I assume, saw some potential in me and my magic..."
A vampire?! Summer sat upright on the bed, her body tensing. She didn't like where this was heading. Not one little bit. Summer grabbed a shot of rum and started to tilt her head back to slam it down.
".. potential that has lead me into employment with the vampire queen of Louisiana."
*WHOOOSH*
Rum all over the motel room carpet. "What the f*ck!!?" Summer asked her eyes wide and full of shock and a little anger. "Brandy, the hell are you thinking getting mixed up in this sh*t?"

Brandy quirked an eyebrow as Summer spat out the rum, all over the floor. A brief thought entered her head as to what a waste it was. She was already pouring herself a proper glass - surprisingly very little coke was added to the whiskey mix.
Maybe not such a surprise. Brandy was already feeling a little giddy, she was not used to drinking at all.
"What the f*ck!!?"
The outburst had threw Brandy off a bit, and for a moment she just had her glass hovering in front of her mouth with her eyes wide.
"Brandy, the hell are you thinking getting mixed up in this sh*t?"
"It wasn't intentional.."
Brandy began to protest...
"What was I suppose to do? Say no to a friggin' queen that could have me killed with a snap of her fingers? Not to mention putting all my friends in danger - no thanks. Once Matt saw I had potential that was it. Besides, I kind of like the guy. Friends only, I assure you. And the queen, she really isn't that bad - I would much rather be her ally then her foe."
Brandy paused, staring at the liquid in the glass she swooshed around for a moment before she took a sip. It was good, really really good.
"I was caught doing my magic, I couldn't exactly talk my way out of it. And now the queen also has decided to send Matt along to Texas with us. I believe Matt's exact words were.."
Brandy paused, bringing the glass to her lips again but this time she took a bigger drink.
".. they didn't want damaged goods"

Summer was frowning at her friend, her arms folded tightly against her chance. "Wasn't intentional? Jesus, Brandy. There frickin' Vampires."

Summers face fell into the palm of her hand. She couldn't believe what her friend was telling her. "You didn't need to go with him ya know." the words were muffled into her hand then she looked up. "Damaged good? Oh f*ck me runnin'" Summer reached her hand out. "Gimme that rum, I think I'm gonna need it"

"Wasn't intentional? Jesus, Brandy. There frickin' Vampires."
Brandy could only respond with a hiccup.
"You didn't need to go with him ya know."
She nodded as she polished off her last drink and was pouring herself another. She was drinking quickly, as if she would chicken - out if she slowed down. Sure, she didn't have to go with him.. but he was so nice and so sweet that she just couldn't help herself!
"Damaged goods? Oh f*ck me runnin'
Was that even possible? Brandy was wondering the strangest things as she took a sip of her newest conquest of a drink.
"Gimme that rum, I think I'm gonna need it"
Brandy had been hogging the whiskey, so it was only fair to let Summer have at the rum. At that thought, she passed the whole bottle over to her. See? It wasn't such a bad thing to start drinking so early in the morning, add to that the fact that Brandy had been awake now for about 25 hours and wasn't even tired.
"See why I decided to come here and turn off my phone? I don't even want to tell Sam.. he is going to kill me..

Summer took a long swig from the bottle. Times like this called for very little drinking etiquette. She took the bottle from her lips and wiped her mouth dry with her free hand. "You're d*mn right he will B. This isn't just hanging with a Vamp. This is the f*cking Queen. You can't really blame him can you?"
Summer sighed, she felt bad for Brandy and Sam. For two very different reasons. Summer put the bottle on the floor at her feet and gave Brandy a serious look.
"You will have to tell him. You can't hide something as big as this."

"You're d*mn right he will B. This isn't just hanging with a Vamp. This is the f*cking Queen. You can't really blame him can you?"
Brandy cringed and slowly shook her head. She couldn't blame him, even as she was with the queen she knew she was in way over her head. But Sam wasn't there, it had been the full moon and he wasn't comfortable enough to go all shape shifter around her.
It kind of bothered her, but she wouldn't admit it out loud. Not to Summer, and certainly not to herself. She had moved way too quickly for him as it was, and just when it seemed he was catching up with her - this happened.
This made Brandy want to drink some more and she skipped the glass and now had the bottle in her hand as well.
"You will have to tell him. You can't hide something as big as this."
"Eh.. I know I have to tell him. Tomorrow. Today I'm forgetting all my problems remember? *hiccup*"
30 minutes in, and she was already sloshed. She put the whiskey down on the table and decided, for some dumb reason, that leaning back on the chair to put her feet up on the table was a good idea.
ALLIE-OOP!
The chair gave way underneath her, and she was on the floor with her feet up in the air..
... and laughing hysterically.

"Eh.. I know I have to tell him. Tomorrow. Today I'm forgetting all my problems remember? *hiccup*"
Summer threw Brandy a look. She'd heard this line before a million times with her mother. It was always tomorrow. Summer fought with the urge to pick up the bottle of rum and just finish it off.
Giving herself a mental slap for even contemplating it. She gave herself another mental slap for feeling so helpless to help her friend.
*CRASH!THUMP*
There was a few seconds shocked silence and then Brandy erupted into hysterical laughter. "Hell Brandy!" Summer felt like she was with her mother again. Not good. She got off the bed to help Brandy upright. "Please God don't let her puke." Summer said as she looked upward for some sign of divine intervention. "You're a mess B"

"Hell Brandy!"
Through her hysterical laughter, Brandy couldn't hear Summer that well. She only caught the glimpse of Summer leaning over her to pull her and the chair to an upright position.
"Please God don't let her puke."
"Puke? Gosh, don't be silly Summer! Sum.. Sum Sum Summer! Summer time! It's a lovely season isn't it?"
Brandy had the biggest, goofiest grin on her face.
"You're a mess B"
".. and he doesn't even love me"
Whoops. That came out of nowhere, and Brandy found another hiccup erupting in her chest. She was feeling a little light headed and extremely heavy. Plus, her speech was a little slurred. Whatever, she was having a great time!
"The words he so strategically used were 'I think I'm falling in love with you'. Meaning he don't know. how do... don't you just know?"
Another drink and Brandy was mumbling to herself as she pushed the half-finished bottle away from her hand. Almsot pouting now, she had her arms crossed and her lower lip pushed out.
"Kyle and Kim helped me with a spell to keep the queen's place protected in the day time. Meaning if the queen call's me, I answer. How awkward is that going to be if I'm having sex with Sam and I get like a buzzing in my ear or sumthing?"
From one extreme to the other, it seemed..

"Puke? Gosh, don't be silly Summer! Sum.. Sum Sum Summer! Summer time! It's a lovely season isn't it?"
"Yeah, you better not or else you can foot the bill." Summer said with a half smile. Was hard not to smile, it was sort of cute and funny. Which is miles better than vile and abusive.
".. and he doesn't even love me"
Summer raised her eyebrow at the randomness of her drunken babbling.
"The words he so strategically used were 'I think I'm falling in love with you'. Meaning he don't know. how do... don't you just know?"
"Oh B" Summer rolled her eyes. "He's a man fer cryin' out loud. They don't do emotion like us." At least in Summer's experience. It took Marco 6 months before he used the dreaded L word. Even though they were as close as any couple could be. It was just a man thing.

Summer pulled a face. "I didn't need to hear that B." though the idea of her friend being at the beck and call of the Vampire Queen infuriated her. "I don't like this at all Brandy." her skin rippled and grew hotter. "You being subservient to some Vampire."

"Oh B.He's a man fer cryin' out loud. They don't do emotion like us."
"pfft.. men. Any more of this men $hit and I'm going to start falling in love with you"
To emphasize her point, she grabbed the bottle again and pointed toward her finger toward Summer before slugging another drink. She shouldn't of drank that one so fast, she got a head rush again which forced her to put the bottle down.
The digital clock she swore now read 11:30, or was that 9:30? She couldn't tell and she was squinting her eyes across the room to see it. Normally she was already at Merlotte's by now, watching Sam set up shop for the day.
"I don't like this at all Brandy. You being subservient to some Vampire."
"I think her stay is only temp.. temper.. temporary"
She should just stop talking, she decided, but Brandy with too much booze in her? Hard not to talk sober, never mind drunk.
"May bee... maybe she will want to play twister or something? Could you imagine? Twister!!"
Brandy braced one hand on the table, struggling to stand up with the bottle of whiskey in her right hand. The room was fuzzy, but Brandy was already trying to sludge her way toward the door.
"I'm going to get more.. of this $hit"
She held up the bottle, stumbling and bumping into a piece of furniture. Quite offended, she stopped mid step and glared at the chair.
"Excuse me sir, that was quite rude!"
