((OOC: I know Tara hasn't been on in a while. I have tried to pm her about the plot through the Sam account, so I'll only mention her in passing)) Merlotte's Bar & Grill. Tara worked here and had been talking of troubles with the owner. Today was a scheduled day off and she was relaxing by the pool with Benedict Talley. Maryann smiled to herself, a thin knowing smile as she stepped out of her blood red Corvette convertible and walked up the gravel path. It was only 30 minutes past 11 O'clock, the bar was fairly empty. Even better, she thought as she stepped through the doors. The heels of her brown leather sandals clicked on the hard floor. She traced her hands along the sides of the leather seats a few of the locals giving her a dopey grin as she walked past them. Stopping at a booth near the back of the bar. It was secluded enough to observe everything. Maryann sat down and adjusted her fitted black pants and lilac camisole top. Her array of jewelry tinkled and sparkled. Setting her large purse at the side, Maryann rest her hands on the table. Clasping them together, she looked around. However owned the place, looked after it well. Tara talked a lot about it, some good and some bad. Tara's happiness was paramount and Maryann just had to see the person responsible for her wards' unhappiness. So she sat and she waited. She had all day to wait and would wait as long as it took.

(OOC - Okay, so usually Kyle will be working with Lafayette, but i want in on this thread, so if we need to it can just be that Lafayette is taking a sicky or something, unless he comes into the thread at some point, and Kyle is left alone to cook ...If that's not okay I can delete this post )
Okay, so this was Kyle's first actualy shift at Merlottes. He was looking forward to it. It would be hard, and fast paced, but he was sure he could handle it. He wasn't someone that buckled under pressure. He let himself in the back door and hung up his coat and adourned his apron. one look into the kitchen showed that Lafayette wasn't there yet...well...he hoped he arrived soon. If Lafayette didn't come then Kyle would be left all alone to cook...not his best skill... He wracked his brain for a spell or two that could help him if he needed it. He could cook the food magically, yes, but for how long? How long could his energy hold out...?
he took a breath and looked out the hatch into the floor of Merlottes. Thankfully there wasn't taht many people here...yet... If only he could have a drink! That would calm him down...but it would also interfere with his magicks. d**n.

Lafayette had been at Merlotte's since the minute Merlotte's opened, as usual. He was currently in the back washing his hands from a very nasty garbage taking out. "Lazy motherf**kers." He mumbled under his breath, drying his hands with a towel. With his hands dry, Lafayette walked back out to see that Merlotte's was abnormally empty. Shrugging his shoulders, he strolled in to see Kyle standing in his usual spot. Raising one eyebrow, Lafayette put the apron back around his neck.
"Hey." He said dryly, going over to make some of his famous liquorfied coffee, even though Sam had told him not to. Lafayette looked around for Sam and since he didn't seem him, he started the water. "Where you's been?" He asked, not knowing whether or not Kyle was supposed to be at Merlotte's like the rest of the staff.

Kyle turned around when Lafayette came into the little kitchen, relief filling him. Lafayette can do the cooking, Kyle will just do the side stuff and...stuff. "I just got here. Was worried, thought you might be sick or something. Was thinking I'd have to pull a miracle out of a hat" Kyle half joked. "Hey, could I have a cup?" He said, pointing to the coffee

Maryann hadn't been sitting in Merlotte's for long till a young man came in through the front door. She thought he was rather cute and had an aura of otherness about him. She made a mental note to find out more about him later. She still had Sam to deal with.
She continued to watch him as he made his way into the back of the bar. An employee? Very interesting.
The door swung open again and in walked a tall, strapping black man. All glitter and shimmy. Even more interesting. He too walked into the back and began conversing with the young man who came in before him.
A wry smile crossed her lips. Today was going to be far more interesting than she had originally thought.

Lafayette shook his head. "I's never sick." He said and then laughed, not yet noticing they had a customer. The coffee was brewing and Lafayette turned around. "Sure,." He said and then went to go get two cups out. "How ya day go?" He asked, making conversation and placing the two cups on the table.

Kyle took the cup of coffee, putting his other hand over it and whispered a few quiet words to make it a bit cooler, enough that it wouldn't burn his tongue, and then took a drink. No one was the wiser. "Well, thats good for me since I can't cook" Kyle laughed, still relieved that he wouldn't be left to do it all by himself. "And my day's been fine so far, thanks. And yours?" He asked, reciprocating the polite conversation.

Whoo, this is extremely close! Haylee thought while entering Merlotte's in a careful fashion, kinda like a bug that peaks out to a new environment. Not wanting to be eaten or stepped on, is the reason for canvasing. Though for her: It was not wanting to be yelled at. Or to be given that "EYE," that shows a little bit of disappointment. It wasn't her fault, that her dumb truck wouldn't start before it finally decided to turn over! Sam didn't appear to be in, from her view point, though it didn't make the moment any easier. Fiddling with her earlobes before a decision to "work" came to mind, it would be the best way to recover! That's when Haylee managed to notice a woman; otherwise known as Maryann that was sitting in her station. "Welcome to Merlotte's! Can I getcha anything?" The tone was chipper, as she did enjoy interacting with people.

Maryann was lost in her own private world, carefully observing the two men from her booth. She couldn't see right into the kitchen, but her vantage point was good enough. They really were very interesting, sneaking alcohol on the job. How decidedly rebellious of them.
"Welcome to Merlotte's! Can I getcha anything?" a flustered but perky female voice carried past Maryann's thoughts, and her face looked up to the face behind the voice.
A very pretty little blonde thing. Maryann smiled a big wide, grateful smile. "Well, only if the kitchen's open" and nodded towards the two men. "But I am rather peckish. What would you recommend..emmm.." she trailed off, "What is your name? I'm Maryann" she extended her hand out to the girl, her smile still on her lips.

At this time, the kitchen should at least be open, Haylee figured and then shook that notion away. As there was someone in her station, that created a feeling of obligation. It was to give some hospitality, smiling gently as the person noted to be a little peckish. That's the difficult thing about food, picking and choosing. It was like a mood, you get weird cravings and normal ones. Then, she was asked for her name as she eyed the woman's hand. Whom was she to refuse a handshake? No harm ever came in that, Haylee reached out and tried to give it a shake. "Name's Haylee, N' its nice to meet you Maryann." Once that was politely noted, she had a job to do still! "I don't know Lafayette all to personally, but I hear great things about his delux burger. I'd recommend that!"

"Name's Haylee, N' its nice to meet you Maryann."
Maryann looked up at the pretty waitress, "It's a pleasure to meet you Haylee." she let her hand slip back to the table where it linked with her other hand. She snuck a quick look past Haylee and towards the kitchen. Lafayette? Tara's Lafayette? her gaze moved back up to Haylee.
"That sounds delicious. I'll have two of those with a side order of fries. Some onion rings and dipping sauce. You have dipping sauce? BBQ if there is." Maryann bit down on her lip softly, putting on a coy look. "I'd also love a coffee if it's not too much trouble." she tilted her head and grinned. "Can't go too long with a shot of caffeine, can you?"

Lafayette raised an eyebrow and poured some liquor into the coffee. He put back down the bottle and looked at Kyle. "If you's can't cook when why's you all up in this motherf**ker?" He asked, not comprehending at all. "Oh, I's had a fine day." He said then finally heard the voices coming from Merlotte's. "We's got customers." He looked over at who exactly the customers were. He saw a blonde waitress and a brunette customer, who looked oddly familiar. Shrugging it off, Lafayette went over to the sink to wash his hands and then turned on the radio signifying the kitchen was open.

Kyle watched Lafayette put a bit more alcohol into his coffee, irish coffee now. He wondered if Sam knew he did that? Were employees allowed to drink on the job? "Well, I can't cook but I can help prepare and stuff. A jobs a job. Money's money" He shrugged. He already knew that they had at least one customer so he just nodded when Lafayette told him so. He took another swig of his coffee, feeling like the caffeine will be a welcome help during his impending shift.

Her forehead nodded, while Maryann smiled and noted it was a pleasure to meet her. The sentiment was "likewise" from Haylee's appearance, feeling that this job had perks after all. Meeting friendly people, learning a few new skills and then again, the area was never dull. Slowly realizing the last "fact" of perks before opening her lips to speak. "Your wish is my command." She chirped, now beginning to steadily writing down the majority of the order. Only to blink on the request of some BBQ sauce, shouldn't be a problem. "I'm sure we'll find some." Now, as for caffeine, boy that smells good about now.
With a tiny giggle, "Nope. It wakes you up with a jolt." There was a wonderment in tone, maybe she should've made time to have some before coming in. Ah, well. There would be time to "dine" later; perhaps on break, if she was luck. "I'll go drop this off." Haylee ripped the pad of paper from it's holder and walked toward the kitchen area. "Got an order up!" Laying the ticket down on the counter, staying there: Just in case her handwriting looked like chicken scratch.

"Your wish is my command." Maryann grinned, oh she liked the sound of those words. Very much so. She was becoming quite taken with the young blonde.
"I'm sure we'll find some."
"Oh Haylee, you are a sweetheart. You're boss must be exceptionally happy with your work ethic." Maryann continued to smile at the waitress, she really was exactly what she was looking for.
When Haylee agreed about the assessment of coffee, Maryann let out a small laugh. "Oh you are a girl after my own heart. Coffee is the only thing that gets me going in the mornings. I'm a terrible grouch without it." Maryann was determined to keep talking to the blonde girl.
"I'll go drop this off." Haylee said with a smile.
"Thank you. Please come back over when you're not too busy. I'd love to talk to you about something." Maryann was especially emphatic about talking with Haylee. This was proving to be even more interesting than waiting for the owner of the bar to appear.
