After a breakfast at some random truck stop (well, Brandy had breakfast, Sam didn't really touch his food), the pair had made a quick stop at the duplex. Brandy didn't need to pack much for a two day trip so she left her duffel bag in the back of Sam's truck while the two went into the bar.
The atmosphere of the bar was quiet, quieter than usual. Most of the locals that Brandy usually saw during this time of day were not around. A few scattered faces littered the bar but something felt strangely usual about the place.
There was also some gossip, that normally Brandy tried to stay away from - but after seeing Mike Spencer sodomizing a tree earlier that morning, Brandy was actually wanting to listen to that rumor mill.
She nodded toward Sam as he made his way into the back of the office. He probably had some paperwork to catch up on, and from what she assumed there was probably some stocking of the liquor as well considering it was Saturday and the bar would be busy that night.
Brandy slid into an empty booth, directly beside a group of chattering older ladies. One had dyed blond hair - you could tell by the gray roots peeking through the top of her head, and was wearing a pair of jeans and soft yellow shirt that was littered with white daisies. This woman, by conversation, called herself Lilly, and seemed to be doing most of the talking.
The other woman, a lady with her gray hair in a bun, was a bit on the heavier-side and wore a Sunday-dress that didn't quite fit her right. Her name was Rose, a common name Brandy thought for a moment but it wasn't her place to judge.
"Can you believe it Rose? They say Jane was caught in only her underwear in front of the cop station this morning! She was passed right out with her arm's around some plush animal!"
"Oh, I know Lilly! I heard that about three or four couples were close to that Ms.Forrester's place completely naked! Sheriff Bud and Kenya have about 8 of them locked away in that police station. What do you think happened last night?"
Come to think of it, Brandy was already wondering why neither Arlene or Haylee had come to take her order yet. Were any of the waitresses around? Brandy could only sigh, it wasn't like she was around to know exactly what had happened.
"Blame the full moon"
Brandy wanted to interrupt the gossipers, apparently she had done it quite well when they stopped talking and she looked over her shoulder toward them.
"It does crazy things to people, gravitational pull and all. I'm sure everything will be back to normal tonight"
Both women looked to Brandy, then to each other - they seemed to both agree.
"That makes total sense, did you hear what happened in California during the last full moon?"
And just like that, they were talking about something else. Women, especially gossiping older women, were predictable.

Maryann drew up outside Merlotte's Bar & Grill. The very same little bar owned by the one that got away. Sam. Of all the places in the world to find him again, he was here in a quaint little Louisiana town.
She'd been in the day before to observe the place, Tara worked here and had complained about her boss getting in her business. Haylee worked here too, sweet little Haylee. Wonder if she made it in today? Maryann smirked at the thought. It was a good party and her walk in the woods proved more interesting than she had anticipated. Sam Merlotte had a little woman.
Pushing the thoughts aside, Maryann decided to take a little wander inside the bar. Who knows who'd be here? Maybe even Sam would be around and taunting him could be so much fun.
As soon as Maryann stepped inside the bar, she scanned for an empty booth. There were many, but she noticed the woman who was with Sam at the lake last night. Maryann smiled to herself and made her way over to the closest table near her. Two gossipy old women stopped talking and looked away nervously as she walked past them.

When a bar was unusually empty, you tended to notice all the new faces that walked in. And you definitely noticed when two gossipy women stopped talking. This usually meant one of them was going to the bathroom, or they spotted someone who would give them reason to stop their gossip.
All Brandy saw was a tall woman, older than her - not as old as the gossiping women - but older than her. Her face was friendly, almost.. insightful, and she, well, she was very pretty. Brandy thought it was unusual that the woman sat to the booth close to her, and in such a way that she would be forced to look at the woman as long as she were to stay there.
There were plenty of empty booth's in the bar that morning.
It was suddenly quiet, but Brandy was never one to ignore anybody - especially when they seemed to be looking right at you. She cleared her throat, and smiled toward her.
"Hi there, I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you new to town?"
It was just Brandy's way.

Maryann was casting casual glances around the bar. It was so dull at this time of the day, she preferred the revelry of the night life. The music, the chatting, the drinking...the drinking.
"Hi there, I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you new to town?"
Sam's pretty little girfriend spoke up, taking her out of the thoughts in her head. Maryann gave her a warm smile. "Hello. I'm fairly new yes." she stood up and walked over to Brandy's booth and put her hand out towards her, "I'm Maryann Forrester, and who might you be" the words came out sweet and innocent, the smile still intact on her face.

"Hello. I'm fairly new yes."
There was a time that Brandy could say she was new, but so much had happened in such a little time that she felt she had been in Bon Temps for years.
Brandy's eyes followed Maryann as she stood up and went to her booth, holding out her hand for her in introduction.
"I'm Maryann Forrester, and who might you be?"
"Oh, please, have a seat here. I feel weird having a conversation when your standing there."
Brandy motioned to the seat across from her after she reached for the hand that was reached out to her. When she placed her slender hand in Maryann's something felt..
.. a little off.
Brandy couldn't put her finger on it, she would say.. grasping onto Maryann's hand was like grasping on to something that wasn't meant to be there.
Brandy shook the thought away.
"BB"
Calling herself BB was something that just came natural to her in this town. However, with the threat of Derek now non-existent, Brandy mentally shook herself and offered a half-smile as if caught in a lie.
"That is what people call me around here. My name is actually Brandy. Brandy Berry. I'm um... "
Brandy was blushing, her brown eyes looking down at the table.
".. Sam Merlotte's girlfriend"

"Oh, please, have a seat here. I feel weird having a conversation when your standing there."
"Oh, why thank you." Maryann responded, flattered at the kindness and placed herself in the booth. Sitting down to face Brandy with another warm smile.
"BB. That is what people call me around here. My name is actually Brandy. Brandy Berry. I'm um... "
Maryann slighted her head to one side, watched in amusement as Brandy hid her face. Coy in her obvious happiness.
".. Sam Merlotte's girlfriend"
Maryann hid her knowledge of this relationship and gave Brandy a sidelong glance. "The man who owns this bar? Well, that was a good catch. Stable, secure.." Maryann paused and leaned across the table "..and very handsome."

"The man who owns this bar? Well, that was a good catch. Stable, secure.."
When Maryann had eased forward, as if ready to reveal some sort of secret revelation, Brandy actually eased back against her seat.
Stability, security? While, she never thought about such things it wasn't the reason why she was so attracted to him. Sam could of been, working as a busboy in this place and it wouldn't of changed how she felt about him.
"..and very handsome."
To that, Brandy's eyes had widened. There was no Sam to look at that moment but Brandy had been very physically attracted to Sam. From the moment she had met him. When Sam was in the room, every other guy seemed to just be another woman.
"Yeah.. he is. But he is so much more than that"
Brandy was looking toward the bar, her thoughts drifting away in her head. As she thought, her hands that were laid on her lap had rested ever-so-politely on the table.
"I feel horrible about having to leave for Dallas tonight. Two whole days without him is going to be hard."

"Yeah.. he is. But he is so much more than that"
Maryann rest her head on her hands that she'd clasped together under her chin. A slight arch of an eyebrow hinted to her interest. Maryann wondered if she knew just how different Sam Merlotte was. Though it was a full moon last night, so how hard would it have been for him to keep a secret as big as his.
Brandy looked over at the bar. So Sam was in, just hidden out back. Things were about to get very interesting if he came out front to see her chatting to his girlfriend. Maryann hid her smile, between interlaced fingers.
"I feel horrible about having to leave for Dallas tonight. Two whole days without him is going to be hard."
Now this held Maryann's interest. Such an innocent, harmless statement to make. But not so innocuous to Maryann, this was absolutely perfect.
"Dallas?" Maryann questioned delicately, "Why ever would you need to go to Dallas and leave him behind?" she pulled a hand from the other under her chin and waved it off fervently. "Oh ignore me, it's not any of my business."
Maryann hoped that Brandy would continue to go on about her trip away. She needed as much information about this as possible, if her plans were to be successful.

Kyle was glad he left Maryann's when he did last night. The party had started off normal enough, minusing the presence of the vampires - especially Derek. He scared Kyle to no end, and Kyle hadn't even been near the man that much. He just had an air of...darkness about him. But then...then the black eyed madness started to happen. Everyone started to become...out of control. Almost primal.
It was at that point that Kyle reliased that he could feel...something try to push against him, try to worm its way into him. It must have been his tie to the magicks that allowed him to resist it like he had done, but he had fled before he tested out if he could resist if forever. But not before he had seen Maryann, how she...shimmered, as if she was having some sort of super speer fit. She looked like she had been enjoying it...she had been enjoying what she was inflicting on everyone. Kyle had no tangible proof that it had been Maryann, just a deep feeling of knowingness.
So now, here he was, in Merlotte's, wishing desperately that he could order a drink to sooth the agitation in his blood. Something was definately up with Maryann Forrester, and Kyle wasn't sure how he should go about getting help. He didn't like to judge people prematurely, but Maryann was not a good character.
He considered going to Brandy and Kimberly first, but he didn't want to scare his fellow coven members. He was still considering what to do when he spotted her. Maryann. Sitting and talkign with Brandy! Kyle just couldn't go over there and pull brandy away. He would look like a freak. So what to do...Sam! Sam could help! He cares for Brandy, and he knows about the witch thing...so hes alright.
He made his way to Sam's office, knocking on the door before just walking right in. "Sam, you better get brandy away from that woman shes talking to out there! That woman not normal!" It had came out a little more...crazy than he had planned, but it was out nonetheless.

"Dallas, Why ever would you need to go to Dallas and leave him behind?"
The question had caused Brandy to take an obvious breath as she looked toward Maryann.
"Oh ignore me, it's not any of my business."
"Don't be silly, I don't mind the questions"
There wasn't much that caused alarm for Brandy. Generally, she liked to trust people and often said things without thinking. Had Maryann planned on staying with Brandy for awhile she would probably eventually learn everything about her.
Brandy had a problem hiding things about herself. Hiding things about other people? She would take their secrets to her grave.
"I offered to go to Dallas to help a friend find his girlfriend. We.. uh.. know where she is but we don't know if she is in any kind of danger or not.."
It wasn't like Brandy could reveal everything about her story. She couldn't tell Maryann that she was a witch, and that she was planning on tracking the woman down with locater spells. Brandy was now looking at Maryann who seemed, for some reason, very interested with her story.
"We fly out tonight, and we won't be back until Monday night. I'm kind of stuck there, even if we do find her early. Airline's don't exactly allow you to easily change your return nights you know? Sam couldn't come even if he wanted to, he has this bar to look after"
A sigh mused past her lips and Brandy had wrapped her arms around herself as if she was suddenly cold. It was a comfort thing. There was so much more to that story that she could of said, like how Sam also didn't like the fact she was going with a were and a vampire - or really the fact she was going at all.
"I've been pulling him away from this place enough as it is. The last thing I want to do is come between him and his business"

"Don't be silly, I don't mind the questions" Maryann returned the hand to interlock with the other back under her chin and smiled. Letting Brandy tell her everything.
"I offered to go to Dallas to help a friend find his girlfriend. We.. uh.. know where she is but we don't know if she is in any kind of danger or not.."
Maryann nodded, encouraging her to continue. The more information she had the better it would be.

Maryann continued to remain silent. Letting Brandy get it all out into the open before choosing to speak. But gave her an encouraging look, encouraging to keep talking.
"I've been pulling him away from this place enough as it is. The last thing I want to do is come between him and his business"
"You're a very sweet girl, Brandy. Sam is very lucky to have someone like you in his life. You must care for him a great deal and he for you."
Maryann pulled a hand from her chin, this time to place it onto Brandy's hand. "Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, you come over to my place and we can have coffee and a girly chat."

Maryann was very.. easy to talk too. Not many people could sit through a whole conversation with Brandy and actually seem genuinely interested. Usually they just seemed to let her speak so that they could talk more about themselves afterward.
Luckily, Brandy was also a good listener. But Maryann was different, this woman wanted to know everything and Brandy didn't seem to think much of it. She saw Maryann as someone who generally wanted to know things, rather it be for her own interest or maybe because she was bored?
"You're a very sweet girl, Brandy. Sam is very lucky to have someone like you in his life. You must care for him a great deal and he for you."
"Well, I can't really speak for him. But, yeah, I believe he really does. He is really protective of me, its a nice feeling to know that you mean something to someone, you know? I have to be extra careful in Dallas, if anything happened to me it would tear him apart."
Before Maryann had reached for her hand, Brandy thought back to the truck stop and how Sam took that trucker guy down without another thought. If the guy had got back up, Brandy knew it would of been the stupidest thing Logan had ever done.
"Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, you come over to my place and we can have coffee and a girly chat."
Brandy's eyes softened, and in that notion she had placed her free hand on top of Maryann's with a sincere smile.
"I would like that. Your very easy to talk to, you give the kind of advice I don't think I could get from anyone else that is here. Most people don't really care what you have to say but, that is just human nature. We are all naturally selfish, after all"

Maryann smiled and patted Brandy's hand lightly. "Oh I'd say he cares about you more than he lets on. A man protects only what he loves and cares for. If what you say is true, then I'd say that he does indeed care for you. Very much."

"It's all part of my job. I'm a social worker and I deal with a lot of people that just need help, guidance and a friendly ear. My house is open every day, all day for anyone that needs me." Maryann squeezed Brandy's hand gently. "I'd very much like you to visit me soon."

"Oh I'd say he cares about you more than he lets on. A man protects only what he loves and cares for. If what you say is true, then I'd say that he does indeed care for you. Very much."
Maryann seemed to have more experience with such things, much more than Brandy did. Not that Brandy had much relationship history with anyone, just Derek and Sam. The polar opposites, ironically. She knew simply from her past experience who she was suppose to be with in the end.
She was going to be with Sam for a long time, even if she couldn't be with him. A permanent fixture in his life, but Maryann's words seemed to have clicked something in Brandy's head. Was Sam starting to fall in love with her, as intensely and without restrictions - the way she had already fallen for him?
She was beginning to doubt that she was that special. It didn't matter, all that mattered was there and now.
"It's all part of my job. I'm a social worker and I deal with a lot of people that just need help, guidance and a friendly ear. My house is open every day, all day for anyone that needs me."
"Oh, well I... don't think I need a social worker. But, its lovely that you put so much of yourself into the lives of others. Especially in times like these"
Brandy felt Maryann squeeze her hand, and Brandy smiled warmly. This woman was pulling her in - hook, line, and sinker.
"I'd very much like you to visit me soon."
"I.. guess I can, when I get back from Dallas. Sam wants us together all the way till the time I catch that flight with my friends tonight. Do you um, know Sam, like personally? Or just from his reputation? Everyone in this town seems to know about him, and because of that they seem to know me. A regular part of the rumor mill now - it can get somewhat annoying."
Oh yes, that darn rumor mill. She was glad she wasn't the topic of discussion this morning.. oh, wait. Why didn't she think of it before? The ladies were mentioning "Ms Forrester" and the naked people at her house. Brandy had withdrawn her hand from Maryann and gave her the most curious of looks.
"Wait... did you have some sort of wild party last night? I could of sworn those ladies behind me mentioned a bunch of naked people were around your house?"

Sam had left Brandy to take a seat in the bar, he had a few things to deal with. Takings, a little paperwork an apology to Terry Bellefleur. He felt really guilty for imposing himself on his staff this way, he could only really make it up to Terry by giving him the night two nights off. Terry wasn't too happy and seemed a little confused and bewildered. Sam just presumed it was a PTSD flare up and didn't push the issue. It was always best that way.
Sam once going through the safe to make sure everything was as it should be. Miraculously, nothing was out of place. Not even his own small personal safe inside was touched or even tampered with. Sam began to close it up and start tidying up his paperwork on the desk when a frantic knock on his office door disturbed him and without much of a wait, kitchen hand Kyle Summers came barging inside his office.
Sam, you better get brandy away from that woman shes talking to out there! That woman not normal!"
Sam closed the safe over and stood upright, holding a hand outwards to him. "Whoah now. Calm down and talk slowly. What woman?" Sam frowned, this was not like Kyle at all. Something had him rattled big time. So rather than dismiss him off handed he decided it was best to let him explain himself.
