Delaney had been cutting through the back woods in her animal form trying to pace herself. Since she had spent most of her time indoors instead of out like her big brother and younger sister, she really needed the practice of pacing herself and what was her limit.
Now that she was living temporarily with Sookie and had a starting point about where she was and where her family might be, Delaney needed to become stronger, just in case she needed to fight. At this point she didn't know if she could go two rounds with a were fly.
Delaney was coming across a familar scent and it lifted her heart for some reason. There was a faint scent of poppies (Sookie) and the other was the light scent of sandalwood (Jason). They had been so kind by offering her a place to stay with out hardly knowing her, she felt protective of them now, like they were extended members of her pack.
Her heart began to race as she picked up their scents and nearly ran into the side of the building. Delaney began to sniff around to see where her new friends had been visiting. It smelled like fried food and liquor, so she decided it was a restaurant or bar. No one was here though so that must mean it wasn't open yet. This was a good time to shift back and explore a little. Delaney ran around the side and noticed a little trailer. That was interesting, being from the city life, Delaney wasn't used to trailers. As she got closer to the trailer to shift a new scent caught her. This was a scent that was similar to her brothers. Whomever lived here, they were a shifter. This small town was just full of surprises.
Delaney went back into the woods and shifted to her human form. Once she was fully clothed Delaney decided to go to the trailer instead. She had only known were animals of her pack and meeting some one like her but also different would be something she would definitely want to catalog for later. She smoothed her hair and put on a smile. Delaney took the plunge and rapped on the door.

((ooc: Jumping BB in, with permission))
A duffel bag sat on the floor by the trailer door, Sam had ducked out early right after the supper hour because Brandy had insisted on it. She could only handle so much weird behavior and Sam had been agitated all afternoon - both him and Brandy had thanks to Maryann. Brandy had tried to put it in the back of her mind as much as possible but it wasn't only Maryann - it was everyone. People were more flirty than usual, drinking more than usual, and Brandy could sense the aura of chaos in the air even more than Sam could.
So what brought them to this point? Well it should of been obvious.
Leave the pair alone in an empty trailer, with just a couple hours to go before they would be forced to separate?
Oh, you can bet your life that one thing led to another.
The couch was the obvious choice, and their clothes had laid in scattered piles on the floor. It was the only reason Brandy had heard the knock on the door and she wondered who the heck would it of been. She had to admit, whoever it was - had the worst timing in the world.
"Did you order us entertainment?"
Brandy smirked, bending down to kiss him quickly before she eased off of him. Without even thinking about it, she threw on his plaid shirt and her underwear. If he was so inclined to follow her, he could do it in his jeans!
When Brandy opened the door, she regretted not throwing on her own clothes... the girl behind the door was someone she did not know at all and Brandy looked a frightful mess! The girl was pretty, and had some effort in her appearance and Brandy wondered if the girl was there to sell them something.
"Oh, hello. Um... can I help you?"
How incredibly awkward.. what else was Brandy suppose to say?

Sam had managed to wrangle out of working for a few hours, so he could eat and spend a little time with Brandy before she left for Dallas. He'd promised Terry an extra night off to compensate and Arlene demanded one too, Sam obliged. They really had earned it.
The plan was food, hang out for a bit then head to pick up Damian before heading to the airport. Except that didn't happen. A snuggle on the sofa with a few loving words, turned into something a little more energetic and passionate.
Sam was lying with Brandy in his arms, times like this made him feel grateful for her coming into his life. He was at a crossroads and she pulled him back into the right direction. She made him feel happy, happier than he ever thought possible.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Did you order us entertainment?"
Brandy teased with a grin and got up from the sofa and grabbed his shirt to put over her naked figure. Sam leant over and picked up his jeans and slipped them on and followed Brandy to the door just as she opened it up.
"Oh, hello. Um... can I help you?"
Sam looked bewildered as a pretty brunette stood at his door. He didn't know her from Adam, and was cautious. Then it hit him, the scent of a Shifter. Now he became suspicious. Who was this girl and what did she want? His face didn't hide his innermost thoughts.

Delaney took a step back from the door as she noticed the girl. Apparently she had interrupted this girl's love making. The woman wasn't the shifter but she was something different. Definitely human but she smelled different. She would ask her later if they were to speak again.
"Oh, hello. Um... can I help you?"
Delaney suddenly became nervous. She really wanted to talk to the shifter but if this woman didn't know about him then she couldn't blurt it out. She had her own 'reputation' to think of as well.
Delaney spotted the man in the corner and smiled. He was obviously not pleased with her presence so she decided to cut her losses. "I am terribly sorry. I hate to bother you, I am incredibly embarrassed for just intruding. That's usually not my style. I am a rather conservative person and maybe I should have waited until the bar was open but I needed to speak with him." Delaney pointed back to the man. "I am friends with Sookie and she told me to come and speak with you."
She smiled weakly and her face flushed. This was a disaster. If the woman stayed Delaney had no back story and no clue what the guys name was. If she had the bare minimum of information Delaney could out talk any politician but as of right now she was up sh*t creek with no paddle. "If this is a bad time, I can come back later."

"I am terribly sorry. I hate to bother you, I am incredibly embarrassed for just intruding. That's usually not my style. I am a rather conservative person and maybe I should have waited until the bar was open but I needed to speak with him."
Brandy ran her fingers through her brown locks as the woman spoke, giving the woman an odd look as she explained she wanted to speak to Sam. Apparently it must of been important, if she found the need to come to Sam's trailer in the middle of the night to speak with him.
Brandy quirked her eyebrow, did being conservative mean you didn't go to people's houses in the middle of the night or... ? And then she pointed toward Sam to emphasize him and Brandy by this time wondered just what the hell was going on that some strange pretty girl needed to urgently talk to her boyfriend?
"I am friends with Sookie and she told me to come and speak with you."
".. Sookie told you to come visit Sam at his trailer in the middle of the night?"
It was a little much for Brandy to handle. She was usually the welcoming one, the one that tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt or the one who would do her best to help complete strangers.
But for some pretty girl to arrive at Sam's trailer in the middle of the night, requesting to only speak to him because Sookie sent her? Brandy sighed and glanced at Sam, she still had her hand against the door and she shifted uncomfortably in her spot.
"If this is a bad time, I can come back later."
"Come back later, to what? To make sure I'm gone?"
Brandy had blurted it out without thinking, her tone coming off as.. defensive? It wasn't right of her to be so rude, and this was becoming a horrible first impression for both her, and this girl standing at Sam's door.
"I apologize, I didn't mean to come across so.. rude. I'll let you two have your privacy. I feel a little silly standing in the door way without any pants anyway"
With that thought she brushed past Sam and headed back into the living room, she knew they didn't have a lot of time but she also didn't like the idea of this strange girl coming back to Sam's trailer when she wasn't there either.

When Brandy answered the door to speak to the female stranger, Sam took the opportunity to pick up a t-shirt from the floor to put on. A crabby old Bon Temps High School Football team shirt, that he picked up one of the few times he ever managed to get time off to go see a game.
When he got back the girl and Brandy were still at a stand-off of sorts. Brandy giving her a mild interrogation about her business. Sam heard the name Sookie and his attention was caught. His thoughts mirrored Brandy's spoken words.
".. Sookie told you to come visit Sam at his trailer in the middle of the night?"
Okay, so Sam didn't think it that harshly, but it still seemed odd to him that Sookie would tell this girl to come on over at a late hour. Completely unannounced. He noted to give Sookie a grilling over it later.
Brandy got a little snappy and then apologised for her behaviour. Though Sam sort of understood her reasons. How would he feel if a strange man came to the door looking to speak to Brandy? He'd feel just as suspicious. Sam reached out to Brandy before she left, but she was gone and back into the living room.
Turning to the girl, the awkwardness wasn't too hard to see on his face. "So" he said standing out on the small porch area, hands in his pockets. "What brings you all the way out here to talk to me?" he shook his head a little. "I sure wish Sookie had given me some sort of warning I was getting a visitor."

Delaney shifted slightly to her other foot. This was going from bad to worse. Time to just come out with it. "Sookie didn't tell me to come out here in the middle of the night. I came out here alone, to practice...you know what I am just as well as you know that I know what you are. I didn't want to blurt it out in front of your girlfriend just in case she doesn't know..."
She felt like she was on trial for being curious. Delaney couldn't get too upset. The woman had every right to be angry at the intrusion. The young were fiddled with a strand of her hair.
"I also am not sure if I am ready to come out. Especially to people I have just seen. I haven't even told Sookie yet and I am staying at her house. I tend to let my thirst for knowledge get the better of me and when I caught your scent, I just wanted to meet you and see what kind of shifter you were and how this town was. I will be staying here for awhile until I find my family...who knows, we may like it here and set up shop...I really am sorry to come here so late. I just was too excited and curious..."

Sam started to feel a little bad for the girl. She'd came a long way for something that she deemed to be very important. Why she thought he could help her, he wasn't sure.
She began to talk about the reason why she was here. When she mentioned the scent, and shifting. Sam tensed up immediately, but let her finish what she had to say. He put up an invisible wall of defense, his face becoming serious.
"I'd appreciate it, if you kept quiet about that." Sam ran his fingers through his dirty blonde hair and sighed. "I don't know about you, but I like to keep my private life just that. Private." Sam began to pace, he was agitated. "I'm not like you, I'm happy with my quiet life. Nobody 'round here needs to know and we're supposed to keep quiet anyways. That was already decided."

Delaney was a little taken aback. Didn't he just hear anything she had just said. "I would never out another shifter. I don't want anyone to know about me either. I should have just left well enough alone. Typical shifter behavior, everyone is suspicious of everyone, I just wanted to meet some one who wasn't a cheetah. I also was curious about the people in the town. Sookie is wonderful but...I just wanted to know about them from a different point of view."
Delaney started to head out. "I guess Vaughn was wrong. Our pack isn't the only closed minded one in the country. I am sure we will find it to be a struggle anywhere to live."

Pants on. Check. Suspicious glance toward Sam. Check. Noticing the change in his body language? Check.
Brandy stood up and made her way over to the door to listen to the conversation between Sam and the strange girl.
"I'm not like you, I'm happy with my quiet life. Nobody 'round here needs to know and we're supposed to keep quiet anyways. That was already decided."
Brandy's brown eyes glazed over, knowing right away what they were talking about. The strange girl, who knew Sookie, knew Sam was a shifter. Was she threatening to expose him? Or herself? No wonder Sam was so agitated, she could read him (well anyone, really) like a book - and his body language was screaming out at her.
Brandy's eye twitched right then.
"I guess Vaughn was wrong. Our pack isn't the only closed minded one in the country. I am sure we will find it to be a struggle anywhere to live."
And that was when the strange woman had crossed a line. Brandy had opened the door then, and eased her body around Sam's just as the girl turned to leave.
"Now you wait there just a god d@mned minute lady!"
Brandy rarely lifted the tone of her voice toward anyone. However, in this situation and hearing what she had heard, Brandy was not about to stand back and let the character' of her 'nearest and dearest' be lashed out at.
"Why did you come here? Really? Was your intention this whole time to what, track down a shifter and tell them what makes them 'typical'? Did you come looking for sympathy, a shoulder to cry on? Just because Sam doesn't want to go broadcasting about who he is it doesn't make him ignorant to you. How dare you accuse anybody of being close minded - you have no right. "
She wasn't even looking Sam, she was only staring down Delaney and struggling to make her words not quite as harsh as how harsh they were sounding in her head. Instead Brandy stopped herself from moving and crossed her arms in frustration.
"It seems very clear to me that the only one that makes it a struggle where ever you live - - is you."

The shifter girl didn't take too kindly to anything said in reply to her. Going off on a tangent. Sam just stood there, dumbfounded. He didn't know what to say, or how to say it. Here was a complete stranger, at his door talking to him about shifters and packs. Sam wasn't in a pack and had no such desire to join one.
"I guess Vaughn was wrong. Our pack isn't the only closed minded one in the country. I am sure we will find it to be a struggle anywhere to live."
Sam's face changed, her words made him even more defensive. But before he could retaliate with words of his own. Brandy came bursting through the doorway. She was visibly furious. It seemed she'd overheard the conversation and wasn't happy about Sam's treatment.
Sam put his arm in front of Brandy, having calmed himself down enough to be at least rational.
"It seems very clear to me that the only one that makes it a struggle where ever you live - - is you."
Oh hell.
"I think we all need to calm ourselves down. This ain't helping any of us here." he sighed, this was a mess and as much as he agreed with Brandy, he had to cool the situation down.

Delaney was more than angry at the words the girl spoke. Obviously this girl knew that he was a shifter and since she had been eavesdropping the girl also knew now that Delaney was a Were as well. Well, dxmn. She could feel her anger taking over and knew that she should leave as soon as possible.
The look on the girls face and the last thing she said pushed Delaney over the edge. Even the man's calm nature and voice couldn't bring her back. "Listen woman, I am the least closed minded of anyone I know. You have no idea of where I come from and what I was forced to live with. I do know of the politics of Were's and their natures. Just because you are in love with one does not mean you know the ways of our kind. I wasn't looking for him, I merely found his scent."
Delaney was seething and everything was wanting her to change so she could fight. This wasn't another Were however, she was just a girl. "It is customary to introduce yourself to other shifters and Were's to let them know you are in their territory. I also thought I might find out about the others in the area to learn if they had seen my family. I will gladly go to the pack master of your pack since your mate is threatened by me. I meant no harm by you or her so if you let me know where your leader is I will go make myself known and never darken your doorway again."
What she had really wanted to do was tell that snotty human woman where to go but since they both knew Sookie, Delaney had no desire to make trouble for the one person in this place that was letting her stay under her roof.

"I think we all need to calm ourselves down. This ain't helping any of us here."
Calm down? She could burn a hole through the woman's head at any moment if Sam wasn't holding her back. Brandy didn't know what to expect, but the moment Delaney began to open her mouth - - there was no holding Brandy back anymore.
"Listen woman, I am the least closed minded of anyone I know. You have no idea of where I come from and what I was forced to live with. I do know of the politics of Were's and their natures. Just because you are in love with one does not mean you know the ways of our kind. I wasn't looking for him, I merely found his scent."
Brandy was shaking. Literally shaking and she tore away from Sam's hold. She was clenching her hands into fists so tightly that her knuckles were turning the color of white-ice. Not looking for him? Mocking her feelings for Sam just because he was a shifter? Saying she wasn't close - minded?
This woman had no idea who she was dealing with. She wasn't a person quick to anger, but she was ready to take a round out of this were - and she wasn't afraid to do so either!
And now she was addressing Sam again as if Brandy wasn't even there. Brandy closed the distance between them and let the grip of her fists loosen as she stared right into the girl's pretty eyes.
"I am not just some normal human you can push aside because you feel the world owes you a favor. I'm a witch, and I happen to know a bit about your world of weres and shifters. That anger in your eyes, you really want to challenge me, woman? Do you really think your going to win?"
Now Brandy was beyond being reasoned with, what could she do to this woman? She had never had a good fight, never had a reason to - but this one was pushing every little button, every little fiber of her being.
Now it was Brandy that wanted a fight.
Definitely not a good sign at all.

Things were slowly spiralling out of control and Sam's insistence that everyone remain calm fell on two pairs of deaf ears. On one side he had the shifter girl, spitting venom and rage. Partially at Brandy, partially at him. The other side had Brandy slipping past him and being more aggressive and hostile than he'd ever seen her be.
Brandy then started to make veiled challenge. Oh boy, this was getting worse. Fast. Sam had to take action and he had to take it now.
"Goddammit that's enough!" he roared above the verbal battle. "Enough already." Sam looked to Brandy, his tone soft and pleading. "Please, babe. Go inside, please. For me." He had to seperate the two women or else this was going to get very messy.
"And you, wait here. I'm not done yet." Sam pointed a finger in the girl's general direction.

A witch? She was a witch? That must account for the smell...still Delaney had been under the impression that witches were something of a bogey man for supes, not some thing that actually existed. Well, she knew of wiccans but they tended to make it very clear that they weren't actual witches.
"I am confused by this. You say you want your privacy and for things to be quiet but then you have this woman know your true nature?" Delaney was stumped. "I also do not enjoy being threatened when I have done nothing wrong. So maybe I stopped by at an inconvenient time but I will not apologize for my curiosity. All you had to do was tell me to come back later. That woman didn't have to say anything at all since my situation doesn't involve her."
She heard him tell her to stay put. "Like I have a choice..."
