After the abrupt meeting with Brandy in Fangtasia it seemed only fair to Jack that he gets his fun in as soon as possible. And what better way to have a good time then by stirring up trouble with Sam? Jack couldn't help but grin to himself at the very thought, the possible reactions the shifter might have to the vampire arriving this night to ruin his evening. The best part about was that Sam could not un-invite Jack from his bar, it was a public place after all.
Dressed in his usual attire, a fine dark linen suit that would cost most of the patrons of the bar a months wages to afford. At least that is what Jack thought. He stepped inside, leaving the night behind and entered the bar, glancing around at the various patrons with some distaste on his features. The smell of alcohol mixed with the sweat of a days work was disgusting and Jack's nostrils flared at the scent.
He spent a moment in the doorway to adjust his tie and stepped toward the bar. "I would like a bottle of O Negative please." He asked the bar maid, though he would have preferred to taste her instead of the synthetic stuff his kind was forced to drink in order to be civil.
With the bottle in hand he took a seat in an empty booth and decided to wait for Sam to make an appearance. He had all the time in the world of course and so he didn't mind waiting around for the shifter to turn up.

Sam milled around out back. Just generally being boss-like and making sure everything was running smoothly. It had been quite the past week or so in Bon Temps and the locals were struggling to get back on there feet. Despite this, tonight was still somewhat busy. It was nice to see people out and enjoying themselves, despite not having a clue what went on or what they may have done.
Sam made his way out front and he scanned the tables and booths, sure enough. There was Jack, sitting with a bottle of Tru Blood generally looking as smug as smug can be. Brandy had said tonight was the night she was doing the ritual to forceably release herself from her blood bond with the Vampire. She asked Sam to play along for as long as possible.
Sam made his way over to the booth where Jack sat. Sam put on his best glower, like the ones he used to give Bill Compton. Sam leant on the table, staring at the Vampire. "What are you doing here?" Sam let his distaste for Jack seep through into his words. He had to be convincing.

The shifter had arrived, the scent was clear even through the stench of the other humans. Jack sipped his Tru Blood slowly and pretended to act shocked at Sam's obvious anger.
"Why, Sam. I never expected you to treat customers in such a way. I feel insulted, so much so I may need another bottle to comfort me." He said with a grin.
He nodded his head to the seat across from him. "Perhaps you would like to join me?"
Jack had no intentions of becoming violent tonight, instead he was far more concerned with psychological harm he could inflict on the humans. They seemed so fickle in their relationships and this was a good way to spend the night, instead of idly watching the Fangbangers at Fangtasia. Though should tonight prove to be a boring affair he could spice things up with a murdering rampage, they were always guaranteed to be fun.
"How have you and Brandy been? All well I hope, since we last met she was in a bad way."

"Why, Sam. I never expected you to treat customers in such a way. I feel insulted, so much so I may need another bottle to comfort me."
Sam sneered at Jack, "Yeah, right." Sam folded his arms tightly across his chest. "I may not be able to forbid you from entering, but this is my bar and it's my rules. Managemental discretion."
"How have you and Brandy been? All well I hope, since we last met she was in a bad way."
Now this did flare up something within Sam. He and Brandy's relationship had been tense ever since Jack had healed her. True, Brandy was setting about to fix it all. But it still stung like hell. "Brandy and I are none of your concern." Sam stared at Jack intently. "Why won't you just release her? You don't want Brandy. This is just some sort of sick game to you, isn't it?"

The vampire clutched his chest and mocked pain in an overly dramatic manner.
"Dear Sam, I am in pain from such an attack." He said with a chuckle and took a sip from the warm bottle.
"As I have told your Brandy, I do not know how to release someone." He lied. "I have never had this connection before, so it is a learning experience for me."
He waved his hand to the chair again. "Please take a seat, it is hurting my neck looking up at you. Though I understand you want to seem in a position of power, but it does not impress a thousand year old vampire."
He rested his right arm on the back of the seat and leaned back. "As a host I am terribly disappointed in you Sam. I have been to many bars in my time and this certainly ranks rather low."

"I really don't care what you think of my bar." Sam sniped back at Jack. He really didn't care. The only people that mattered were the locals and the regulars and they rarely complained about anything.
Sam mulled over the previous things Jack had brought up. Actually sitting down across from him in the booth. He had to keep Jack here as long as possible. Though the rate Jack was gloating, that may not be a difficult assignment.
"Somehow I just don't believe you." Sam said going back to the conversation about releasing Brandy. "Are you trying to tell me that a.." Sam put his hands up to mock quotation marks with his fingers, "'thousand year old Vampire', doesn't know something like that? Come on Jack, I'm not the little backwater hick you seem to think I am."
Playing to a Vampire's vanity, was not something Sam relished. But he had to do what he had to do to help Brandy with her spell.

"Ah am I that transparent?" Jack said with a shrug.
He knew exactly what Sam was and it disgusted him to be in the same company as the shifter and he was fighting every instinct to jump across the table and tear open his throat. But then of course that would be too easy. He was preferring this little game of words between them, it had been so long since he had taken a verbal approach to violence. He rested his elbows on the table and leaned in close to whisper.
"And I know all too well what you are, Shifter. Your smell is your biggest give away." He grinned and leaned back into his seat.
He took another small sip of the Tru Blood, grimacing a little at the taste as he placed the bottle back on the table. "You know I am in two minds about this stuff... I do love wearing these suits and sleeping in a bed instead of a hole in the ground, but I miss feeding properly... Of course you wouldn't know would you?"
He glanced around the bar, mentally checking off who he would love to taste and who would simply taste awful. His gaze returned to Sam with a start. "Oh sorry, force of habit." He said with a grin.

Every word Jack said, every smug smile, every movement. Everything about this Vampire put Sam on edge. Vampires were not high on Sam's list of favourite things. But this one, seemed a little unhinged. He was enjoying taunting Sam, though to be honest Shifters and Vampires have never been the best of friends. So this behaviour would be more or less normal.
"What exactly is it you want?" Sam sneered at Jack, his eyes narrowing and getting prepared for some sort of physical attack. "I mean if you're so bored with living for so long, maybe you should stay up for a nice sunrise."

"What do I want? Now that is a truly interesting question..." Jack began, appearing to be musing on the subject as if it were some major philosophical issue. He stroked his short beard and hummed to himself.
"Well I suppose I would like many things, end to world hunger, money for the poor, all that usual crap you hear people talk about." He grinned, humor was a little knew to him but still he found sarcasm amusing.
"But I digress, I suppose you mean to ask what I want by my being here." He said, acting in a nonchalant fashion. "Well I just wanted to have a little fun. And considering how you reacted to me saving your woman's life I was a little intrigued as to why, after all I could have drained her there and then."
He picked the bottle up, holding it by the neck between his thumb and forefinger so it pivoted. He looked off to one side, seemingly in thought. "Though the idea is certainly appealing. She does have a delicious scent afterall..." He grinned and took a quick swig from the bottle.

"Though the idea is certainly appealing. She does have a delicious scent afterall..."
There was a lot to say about a witch, especially when a certain witch often underestimated herself and the kind of power she had within her. Brandy almost blamed Derek's influence, she had seen what powerful magic could do and he had made her afraid of it.
Why did it take her this long to realize it was because he took it to his dark place? She underestimated the fact that a blood bond releasing spell from a witch as powerful as she was - did not need a vial, only a simple drop of his blood would do.
A swap of a tear, a prick of his blood on a pin -
That was all it took. A simple spell at Fangtasia to shake a button loose on his shirt cuff, a handy sewing kit to 'assist' him and nobody at the table was none the wiser.
She told Sam to stall Jack, should he come in to the bar. She expected he would, Jack was well, Jack after all. Sure enough, the spell only needed one more step to be completed. And that was why she was there, approaching the pair. Jack would sense her come in, of course, but...
"Sam, - - Jack"
She slid in across from Jack, brushing past Sam as she did so. She was so quiet for a moment, looking at Jack with almost glassy eyes as she reached for his hands.
"Jack.. really, this has been fun..."
Quite boldly, she might of added if asked later, she had wrapped her hands around his and leaned in to whisper ever-so-softly into his right ear.
"I release you"
As she eased back from him, she let go of his hands and took in a breath. The funny thing was, she was not angry. Her eyes held no sort of.. hatred for him, or even animosity.
"I won't forget what you did for me Jack. You have my respect for that, and I do owe you a favor in our future. But please, don't take advantage of me again - I am in the service of the queen, not of you."
She nodded toward him and rose to her feet, she offered Sam a soft glance and made her way to the bar.
She really could use a stiff drink right about now.

Jack waxed lyrical in the most sarcastic way possible. Intent on antagonising Sam. Different day, different circumstance and Sam may have gave in to his anger and distaste for this Vampire. But he knew Brandy was casting her spell and he had to stay as rational as possible. However that was difficult, Jack was making it harder and harder for Sam to stay calm.
"Though the idea is certainly appealing. She does have a delicious scent afterall..."
Well, that did it. Jack had found a weak spot without even trying. Sam began to raise to his feet, opening his mouth to speak. His finger aimed pointedly at Jack and his eyes were enraged. No sooner had Sam raised up onto the soles of his boots, he caught a faint trace of a familiar scent..
Brandy was soon next to them both, and sitting in the booth. Sam's eyes widened as she took Jack's hands. He sure hoped Brandy knew what she was doing.
"Jack.. really, this has been fun..."I release you"
Sam had never loved her more at this moment. His eyes were full of love, awe and admiration. She was really coming into her own and he was so proud of her.

As Brandy entered Jack felt a little smug about the situation, about to start boasting about the situation, when Brandy took his hands and whispered in his ear, he felt a slight surge of power flow through his body. The connection was cut and Jack could feel the anger rise in his body. The witch had found a way out that Jack had not considered and now he had no leverage on the two of them.
He sat for a moment digesting the information and suddenly broke out a thin smile. "Well that was over quickly." He muttered and rose from his seat.
He grinned to Sam, suddenly feeling a lot better about it all. Brandy may have broken the connection, but it could easily be re-established. "Well Sam it seems I have to be elsewhere. But don't worry, I'll be back." He stepped out from the booth and wandered over to Brandy.
"Don't expect me to save you next time. And I'll be calling in that favour soon..." Jack whispered to her and left the bar, a little annoyed, but it didn't matter.

"Don't expect me to save you next time. And I'll be calling in that favour soon..."
Brandy's eyes narrowed as Jack walked out the door. Calling in a favor? She should of told him off when she had a chance!
"I am really beginning to hate that guy"
With a sigh she returned her attention to Sam and smiled warmly, wrapping her slender arms around his waist with a grin that could of melted even the coldest of hearts.
"I did good?"

Sam watched with a victorious smile as Jack made his excuses and left. He whispered something to Brandy about calling in a favour, but Sam didn't care. The bond was broken, they could finally get back to normal. He felt her arm around his waist and he grinned from ear to ear.
"I did good?"
Sam kissed her cheek lightly, "You did better than good." the grin reappeared on his lips. "You did great. I'm really proud of you."
It was like a massive weight was lifted from Sam's shoulders. All the worry, all the stress was now gone for good. It was time to make all his insecurities disappear and set things right with the woman he loved. He knew what he had to do.
"I gotta pop into the office for something beautiful, you wait here." he stood up and walked out of the booth. He strode into the back with a real spring in his step. No more problems.

"You did better than good. You did great. I'm really proud of you."
Brandy was beaming, after Jack had left - even though he was an @ss about it, Brandy was just glad it was all over with. Finally her and Sam could be themselves again, without the thought of Jack looming over them.
"I gotta pop into the office for something beautiful, you wait here."
Brandy was confused, but she nodded and did what he had asked. With a thought she sat on the empty stool and looked at the other patrons around the bar.
Merlotte's was back to normal, and she could not be any happier.
