Sam came back out the office and towards Brandy. Trying his best to hide the mile wide smile on his face. He just hoped she liked the idea, it was last minute. But it was something they both so desperately needed. Time alone.
Sam slid into the booth beside Brandy and put his arm across the back of the seat and rest his hand on her shoulder. "So...any plans in the next couple of days?" no longer fighting the huge smile.
The renovations would be getting started tomorrow, so this was the perfect time to get away. Sam was almost exciteable and fidgeted inside the booth. Unable to sit completely still. He was anxious that he'd done the right thing.

Even now, and she was certain that 40 years from now she would feel the same - her heart beat a little faster when Sam slid in beside her. The feel of his body against hers, of his skin against her own, just having him close to her put her in 'puppy dog love' mode.
And everyone in the bar could see it. The old ladies, who used to hit on Sam or make perverted remarks about him had toned it down day by day. Brandy was certain, that by the time Christmas rolled around, nobody would say they wanted to 'wear Sam like a scrunchy'.
At least not when Ms.Brandy was within earshot.
"So...any plans in the next couple of days?"
Brandy tilted her head, oh now - what was that clever look on his face? Not to mention, if he kept fidgeting she would have to put herself on his lap to make him stop!
".. not unless you know something I don't?"

Sam grinned, he did in fact know something Brandy didn't. Though he wouldn't keep her in the dark for long. "You know, I do." he teased a little, nothing like anticipation to make the reward sweeter. "Well, I've booked us a couple of days at a hotel in Dallas. That is, if you want to hang out with me for that long."
Sam waited to see what Brandy's reaction would be and began to wonder if he picked the right hotel. After all, a lot of there problems stemmed from Brandy's involvement with Vampires.

"You know, I do."
She was looking at him with that 'come on, tell me' kind of looks. She was about to give him heck for teasing her, when he came 'out' with it.
"Well, I've booked us a couple of days at a hotel in Dallas. That is, if you want to hang out with me for that long"
Brandy's eyes widened, it took her a couple moments to register everything in her brain. Couple of days, Dallas, Hotel Room.
Her eyes lit up as saucers and she almost knocked the both of them onto the floor.
"Oh my god!! Sam!!! "
Yep, without a doubt - the best news she had heard all day!

Brandy threw herself into Sam's arms enthusiastically, squeezing him tightly to the point of almost suffocation. "I'll take that as a yes" he laughed as he held her close. It felt so good to just embrace her, wrap her up in his arms and not care about anything. Not even the local gossips who got a real kick out of talking about anything and everything.
He pulled away slightly, giving her a serious look. "There is one thing though, I could only get a good deal on one hotel. With it being so short notice n'all" Now it was crunch time.

"I'll take that as a yes"
Brandy was only grinning, she couldn't help it - no other emotion was running through her head at that moment. After all, they were actually getting away - just the two of them. No bar, no strange girls showing up at his trailer, no locals spreading gossip that was getting 'old'..
Nope, it was just him. And her.
""There is one thing though, I could only get a good deal on one hotel. With it being so short notice n'all""
"Oh, I don't care about the hotel Sam. It's not like I know any of the Dallas vampires so I don't think anybody will bother us. You could of booked us a room at some roach motel and it wouldn't matter to me.. I'm just glad to be with you"

Sam smiled in relief. "Well, we've got suite at the Silent Shore Hotel. I've made all the arrangements. So we can leave tomorrow morning and catch a flight out. Stay there for a coupla days while the contractors in." Sam blathered, Sam never blathered. But the excitement of actually getting away from Bon Temps and all the bad memories, even just for a few days was exactly what was needed.
"Oh, I forgot to say about that." Sam stopped, realising he'd not told Brandy about the renovations to the bar. "Getting in a contractor to fix the place up a bit. Figured the bar needs a fresh start as much as we do."

"Well, we've got suite at the Silent Shore Hotel. I've made all the arrangements. So we can leave tomorrow morning and catch a flight out. Stay there for a couple days while the contractors in."
Brandy had been looking at him with a happy look in her pretty brown eyes but she stopped as if she didn't hear him right. Contractors? For what? She opened her mouth to ask, but he had answered for her -
"Oh, I forgot to say about that. Getting in a contractor to fix the place up a bit. Figured the bar needs a fresh start as much as we do."
Brandy slightly eased away from him, her eyes looking all over the bar slowly. While they had managed to clean the place up so that it was suitable to be a 'bar' again, it could of really used a 'fix me up'.
"I think that is a great idea Sam. This place could sure use it."
Brandy looked at him slyly, snickering as she leaned over to whisper in his ear...
"Don't forget to replace the felt on the pool table.."

"I think that is a great idea Sam. This place could sure use it."
Sam nodded in agreement, it was clean but it still had an air of uncleanliness about it. Plus it had been about 6 years, the bar had never had a makeover in all that time. It was certainly overdue for a spruce up.
"Don't forget to replace the felt on the pool table.."
Sam smirked back as she whispered in his ear. He turned his face to hers, his lips now mimicking the slyness in Brandy's. "Maybe I should keep it as a momento?" the question was a rhetorical one and Sam laughed a little before looking at her with serious eyes. "You did good and I am so proud of you. Everything you've become. You're so much stronger than I ever gave you credit for, which is saying somethin'" he felt a smile re-appear at the end of his words.

"Maybe I should keep it as a momento?"
Brandy had to laugh at that, if he wanted an 'memento' they could always have sex again on the new pool table. What came next from his lips, however, had really surprised her. And his eyes, they were so serious.. he really meant the words he was going to say.
"You did good and I am so proud of you. Everything you've become. You're so much stronger than I ever gave you credit for, which is saying somethin'
".. It's all your fault you know."
And now Brandy was the one that was serious, her eyes were looking at his and her slender fingertips had run through his hair almost carelessly.
"I wouldn't be as strong as I am now without you, Sam Merlotte. You give me so much strength, so much.. to fight for, that I have no place left to go but up..."

Sam looked at Brandy with a coyness he'd not used since he first met her. He reached a hand to hers and looked back up with a soft smile. "Well, that makes two of us then." his brows furrowed. "Though not as literally as you. But you get my point, right?"
Sam mused about how he wished all days could be like this. But duty was calling him back to work. But his body and mind were reluctant. "I suppose I should put up a notice about the bar huh." his eyes darted around the bar. "Gonna be some unhappy people."

"Well, that makes two of us then. Though not as literally as you. But you get my point, right?"
Brandy looked at him and nodded slowly, she really did get his point.
"Well.. we already know how protective you can be of me Sam. And so does Damian, thanks to his sore face"
Brandy couldn't help it, they could look back on it now and joke about it - even though at the time it was no joking matter. At least now, her and Damian were friends again and all they needed to do was help Damian find someone that he could be with.
After her little comment Brandy had looked around the bar, no - she didn't imagine the locals would know what to do with themselves since their local watering hole was going to be shut down for a couple days.
"Ah well, let them all drink at home for once.."

"Well.. we already know how protective you can be of me Sam. And so does Damian, thanks to his sore face"
Sam gave a grim smile. He lost his temper, let his frustration boil over and taken it out on Damian. Not that Damian was entirely innocent, but Sam didn't need to lash out quite so badly. "Yeah...." Sam looked sheepish. "I didn't mean to hurt the kid so much."
"Ah well, let them all drink at home for once.."
Normally Sam would shrink at the idea, but it wasn't about money. Sam had enough of that, it was about community and keeping the town close and friendly. "Maybe do them good to spend some time with there families, especially after everything."

"Yeah.... I didn't mean to hurt the kid so much."
Brandy had rested her hand on his leg reassuringly, her eyes soft as she decided to rub his back with her hand instead.
"Damian is a werewolf though hun, they heal quickly.. he probably doesn't even have a bruise"
"Maybe do them good to spend some time with there families, especially after everything."
Brandy offered him her best smile, and leaned her head against his shoulder. She couldn't help but to close her eyes and just enjoy the moment of being against him.
"Don't you worry hun, they will be throwing their money at you again once we get back home.."

Sam nodded, that was one of the handy things about being two-natured. You healed a little quicker than your average Joe. Though Were's being the Alpha of the Shifter community, healed that bit quicker than even regular shifters.
"Don't you worry hun, they will be throwing their money at you again once we get back home.."
"It's not the money I'm interested in. I just want the town to heal and get back to normal." Sam leaned into Brandy's head and spoke quietly, not wanting to alert anyone in the bar. "They've all been through so much and they don't even know it. Some of them are pains in my ass, but there like family in a way." he smiled, "No matter how dysfunctional."
