So, I figured this would be nice to see how everyone came to love the show or the books or both? I love origin stories! For me, my big brother, who always know things I will obsess about and love, told me to watch True Blood. So one Sunday, when I had nothing to do, I watched every episode of True Blood Season One on Project Free TV that day and became obsessed. Then I found out there were books, so I ordered the first 7 books from Amazon in an awesome little box set. When they arrived, I spent the next two weeks reading non stop. Which going to school and having to do all that jazz, I read read read. I lived in the world of Sookie. It was awesome. Then I bought the 8th and read it in a day. Then the day the ninth came out I woke up early and bought it. Then read it in a day. So yeah, thats my story. Then I got bored waiting for more and started this site so I could live in the world some more. YAY!!

Good story Sookie! Me, mine is kind of the same. I was bored and looking for things to watch and found True Blood was a big thing. So I googled free tv shows and found True Blood to watch. It was hilarious, I loved it. Watched almost all of the first season in one day. Then found out there was a season two and made sure to get HBO so I could watch it. And from then on, Ive been a fan. Ive only read three books though, I plan on reading more!

For me kinda the same...I love anything to do with vamps. My fav movie is The Lost Boys. Of course I read Twilight, but wasn't so happy so I read the House of Night series. Then True Blood was advertised here in the UK, and I was intrigued, after watching the first episode I was so intrigued I had to go out and get the books. Being a single mu, makes it kinda hard bbut I can easily still read a book in 2 days, so expect to finish them within the next week and a half.
Though I love reading (I have over 300 books lol), I have to say the Southern Vampire series is one of the best mature vampire series I have read in ages.

I was looking for a new show to watch and my love of Vampires led me to try out True Blood. So I watched the first episode and was instantly hooked and watched it every night...sometimes more than one episode a night. Found out there was a second season and anxiously awaited it and re-watched Season 1 in the meantime.
Only recently been able to start buying the books and now I'm engrossed in Charlaines world even more.

I'm lame : ) My mother told me. I've always had this growing love of the concept of vampires, so she just appeared one day and was all "new vampire show" I was all "Oh!". So, after the few weeks of waiting - it finally came onto the television. Sure, my mum said it had been given some amazing reviews, but from the first epsiode I was hooked XD Seriously, I got up at 2am to watch it '. PLUS, I keep ranting to my friends; so it's like a more realistic obsession...yeah, I <3 twilight also =') SUE ME! XD -giggles- [/size]

You can order then on Amazon for like 34 bucks for the first 7! A great deal. Everyone knows there is a Season Three that has just been announced too right? YAY!

I first heard of True Blood when the first season had finished. I'm a fan of Kristin Bauer and when I heard she was in this new show about vampires, I downloaded the season. It took me like 2 days to watch it and I was obsessed. Lucky for me, I didn't need to wait too long for the second season to start airing.
I definately plan on reading the books, purchased the first one but I want to wait until season two is over before I start reading.

The very first time I heard of True Blood was when my mom began to watch it. She works in an office that has very rude people and so one day, she asked around the workers there if they knew of any bizarre TV show she could watch. They said 'True Blood' She then began to watch it every Sunday and yada, yada. At first, I showed no interest in it at all, sticking to 'Twilight.' But then on a Sunday, we were looking for something to watch and she saw True Blood was on. I groaned but no less, began to watch it. First 'Keep This Party Going' was on and then by the end of the episode, I loved it. 'Scratches' was on right after and I watched that one as well. When 'Scratches' was over, I researched more True Blood episodes on YouTube and then followed it's official twitter page on twitter. I was hooked after seeing the first two episodes. My mom also had bought 'Dead Until Dark' last December and I picked it up this summer and read it. Once I finished it in a bout a week, I read 'Dead Until Dallas' and finished that in about a week as well. I am currently in the midst of reading 'Club Dead' and I will start it again very soon. I also have the complete box set of the first season of 'True Blood.'

I saw True Blood on HBO's on demand and I was bored one day, so I was like "Alright, I might as well give it a try... it is vampires after all... but if it's ANYTHING like Twilight than I'm GONE!"
I was really surprised by its depth and I was hooked from the first episode!
I paused on charlaine harris's name when I was watching the special features so that I could look up the books at the library. Man those things have so many holds on them... I waited many weeks before the first one came. I read and patiently waited for each book, now I'm on Dead as a Doornail and still going strong.

Just got a big flash of deja vu here. lol My dad knows how much I am into the "darker" stuff as he calls it. He was the one who told me there was a new vampire show coming out, but I didn't think too much of it. I missed the first episode and my dad bugged me about it because he said it was awesome. I started to watch them about the 3rd episode in then became a stalker of True Blood. I found out about the books, but could only put them on a wish list as I had no money for them and I am also reading about 7 other series about the supernatural, so watching the TV series for now ill have to do.

Wow, these stories are quite different than mine. I agree with Rose, The Lost Boys is great. My first vampire movie was Queen of the d**ned and I loved Lestat. Then I got into vampires (I had always been a die hard werewolf fan, and I actually still like them more than vampires...) So i saw all these commercials and then I finally got to a hotel that had HBO. Well the connection broke and I couldn't watch it!
So my sister is a die hard Twilight fan, and I ABSOLUTELY HATE Twilight! Don't even get me started on it and my sister and I were arguing about it. She wanted to know if I could prove there was anything that I could show her that would top Twilight. So this show was on and I just hoped it would top Twilight. Well what do you know: IT WORKED!!!!!! And we both fell in love.
Then I bought the first season and took it to a family trip with me and soon it was a nightly routine to watch a new episode, lots of my cousins watched it with me so now we are all hooked. Then one of my cousins said she has the books and that's when I got hooked on the books. And I am addicted to roleplaying, so all of my addictions in one. When I saw Sookie's advertising, I rushed to the site and joined and have been putting as much time in this site as I can.

Hey Deja, ever heard of a library? I get all my Southern Vampire Mystery books from the library. It saves me money that I don't have. I learned the hard way what buying a whole series can cost (I bought the entire Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan series when I was younger ugh).
My budget can't include books, I'm over the whole buying books phase! Although I really do adore the series and to revisit old characters, I'd consider asking for it for Christmas...

Alcide, lol, yes I have heard of a library, but I am reading about 7 other series right now: Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series and Merry Gentry series. Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series. Karen Chance's Cassandra Palmer Series. Kelley Armstrong's The Women of Otherworld series. Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires. Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. I did just get the audio version of the Sookie Stackhouse series, and just started listening to them.

Wow, so much reading. I will have to admit that I don't read that often and actually the Sookie Stackhouse novels are the first series I've dedicated myself to since Harry Potter... I usually write instead of read and if I do pick up a book, I hardly ever finish it because I get bored, but not these books. Truly, it is rare.
