Name:Aislinn Del Fleur Age: 18 years old Member Group: normal human Character History: Aislinn was born in a small near Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Ever since she was born she lived with her aunt in a small ranch house on a nice plot of land. Her mother was killed in a car accident one night while Aislinn was about 2 years old and she was taking a break from the baby. Aislinn’s father, a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps never could adjust to civilian life even after he had children. He is alive, but not in Aislinn’s life for his inability to adjust to civilian life and raise his child. In this way Aislinn could be classified as a military brat, having lived in Virginia at the Quantico base with her father.
After her mother was killed Aislinn spent the rest of her life living with her aunt Julie, Julie being her mothers sister and her only living or able-to-be contacted relative. She spent 12 years in that small ranch house in Wisconsin raised as a brat-turned-farm girl, ‘earning her keep’ by helping her aunt around her small farm. This is where Aislinn developed her love of horses, but when she was 13 her aunt was forced to move out of her house when a hurricane ripped through the state and decimated their home. They moved to the house they live in now in Bon Temps.
A few years ago, when Aislinn was 16 her father managed to track her down. However the man was not as Aislinn had been told in all of the stories. He was a hard and cold man who was struggling to live in a world where every moment wasn’t spent looking over your shoulder for a bomb attack. He saw that Aislinn was happy where she was, with her aunt, and threw away his initial conviction to reclaim custody of his daughter. The three of them made a deal: Aislinn would keep in contact with her father and, after some close questioning and inspections by Aunt Julie, Aislinn’s father would move to Shreveport and would take his daughter for 3 weeks during the summer. This tradition of sorts had continued for 3 years and is still standing, even though the vampires and other craziness going on around them.
Personality: Positive: ~Knows how to have fun while not being stupid: Aislinn isn’t one of those girls who go out partying or drinking early in the morning just for something to do. She wasn’t raised that way and isn’t predisposed to getting into trouble. In this way she’s a bit of a home-body, content to sit and hang out at home with her friends and build a bond fire in the yard then go out driving at all hours of the morning and causing trouble. This isn’t to say she doesn’t know how to have fun, not at all, Aislinn just knows how to have the right kinds of fun.
~Self-Confident: Aislinn is self-confident. She knows what she’s good at and knows what she shouldn’t waste her time with. She isn’t selfish or cocky because she recognizes her faults. This has a downside however because Aislinn tends to use this self-confidence and stick up for other people, most of the time sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong and getting herself into trouble.
~Carefree: Aislinn really doesn’t let things get to her and tends to let many things roll off her back. This allows her to stop and actually smell the roses since she’s not in any big rush to get somewhere or do something like most people are. Perhaps this stemmed from her easy going, small town life on her aunts farm, but wherever it came from it’s a trait that stuck.
Negative: ~Blunt: Even though Aislinn knows there are certain things that shouldn’t be said, she tends to say them anyway. She’ll speak her mind about a person but not to hurt them. She doesn’t see the benefit of beating around the bush, especially on the important stuff, and will very often times tell it like she sees it.
~Stand-offish at first: Aislinn isn’t good with new people and can seem a bit stand-offish at first. This isn’t because she means to be this way, it’s simply because she’s very awkward around new people and her stand-offish nature is done in an effort to hide that awkwardness. But once you get to know her this stops and she is more relaxed around people she knows.
~Resistant to Change: Aislinn doesn’t like change and doesn’t welcome it. Little changes she’s fine with, but bigger changes (such as the move to Bon Temps) tend to push her out of her comfort zone and into the middle of nowhere. Because of this she isn’t very eager to get involved in the supernatural culture or life style, preferring to stay on her own ‘normal’ side of the tracks and keep all the sups out of her life. It’s not that she has anything against them, it’s just that they’re to much of a change for her to take on at once comfortably.
Future Plans for your character: I would like her to get involved with the supernatural (much to her chagrin). Maybe one in particular at first and then kind of introduced to their culture but still keep her roots in the human side of things. Have you read the books: sadly, nope. I’ve watched all of season 2 and watched the ‘recap’ of season 1. Sample RP:
(from another site, not true blood)
The sky was as gray as ash, filled with snow clouds as thick and heavy as they ever were. Snow drifted from the sky at a slow speed, blanketing the grass in white. Out in the farmlands everything was bleak, the sky, the ground, everything. Life would return in spring, but who knew when that would be with winter lasting so long? It seemed everything was worrying about it, hoping and praying for the harsh winters to end so their lives could begin again in easier times. Persephone herself wished for the cold to finally lift, mostly so she could return to her spring-time activities: walking the flower fields and sitting in the sun. Still, that was not why she was in the farmlands.
In her normal formal dress and boots combination, a long scarf wrapped around her shoulders that served as a shawl in an attempt to keep the coat out. Her thick skirts and long sleeved managed to keep most of the cold and the wet out, but with the bottoms of her skirts soaked in the snow her dress was heavier then it normally was. Her breath came out in white puffs that drifted into the air as she stood infront of the burnt foundation, the only remains of her childhood home. She had learned only about three months ago that both of her sisters had moved away and Persephone knew the moment she had heard the news that she had no hopes of finding them. It wasn’t as if the poor farming families kept records of when they were moving and where they went. She knew the house had burned down before she’d gotten to the actual site, asking an older farmer who didn’t know her on the pretense that she was a friend of the family.
Looking at the outline in the dirt and the few stones in the middle of the outline that made up the remains of the hearth she couldn’t help but overlap her memory of the house. It had been modest, 2 bedrooms. One had been her mothers and the other she and her younger sister had shared. Her older sister, the room not being big enough for her, had slept out near the hearth. But she never complained, never seemed to mind giving up her room to her two little sisters. That was what had been good about Persephone’s oldest sister, she never complained. The kitchen and ‘living room’ had been in the middle of the home, the grain and root celery below the house and the crops and fields surrounding the farm. Even now she could still picture it: the warm and small house that always smelled of fresh fallen rain and of the flowers her mother kept outside the window.
Standing in the snow now only a vague outline of the foundation was left and a few stones from the hearth. She didn’t dare go down in the root celery, knowing she wouldn’t find anything. Walking into the area she allowed her memory of the house to guide her to her old room. The bed had been against the wall, below the window, one very large bed for she and her sister. A hand-made desk had been next to it, one that a friend of her mothers had made for the girls when they began school and on the remaining wall was set a small hearth to keep the room heated in the winter. The room had been small, not big enough for much else to fit in it, but to Persephone and her sister it was perfect. Now she stood at what would have been the very center of the room, the bed to her left and the hearth to her right, the door to her front and the desk to her back. But now, instead of seeing sturdy wooden walls she saw the snow blanketed ground and the faint outline of trees beyond.
It was real then, for the first time since she had arrived at the site it was real. Her life as Persephone, daughter of a farmer along with two other sisters, was no more. The innocent and sweet girl that adored her family and the life she lead was long gone. It was replaced by a girl who was caught between wishing she could go back and only wanting to stay in the present, caught between two worlds. But it seemed that other world was long gone….
