Lunch break was always interesting for Aislinn. It was a much needed reprieve from all of the running around and fussing of waitressing, giving Aislinn a chance to cue up her Ipod, grab a booth and a burger and just relax. That was precisely what she was about to do now as she took off her black half apron and hung it on the hook in the back, swapping it for the hoodie and purse she’d hung there during the very beginning of her shift. That was one of the things that Sam was a stickler about, that his waitresses dressed the part and not look like completely slobs (though at the very least he didn’t make them dress up as some places did). Pulling on the hoodie and taking her purse in hand she stopped by the window to the kitchen and placed her order of a turkey club with fries with Lafayette before grabbing herself a booth and a large pink lemonade on her way. She knew the menu by heart and probably would have even if she didn’t work there, Merlotte’s the only half decent place to eat and hang out besides the mall in all of Bon Temps. Besides, working there she was able to simply get herself what she wanted (with the exception of the food itself) and her order was completely mess-up proof.
Sliding all the way down so her shoulder rested against the wall Aislinn looked around the restaurant, the view much different when she wasn’t running around taking orders and serving tables. Most of the regulars at Merlotte’s were of the good type and were generally not to snippy, though a few bad apples walked in every now and again only to be watched by the hawk-like eyes of Sam and most of the employees. Crossing her legs she took a sip of her pink lemonade and took out her cell phone from her purse, checking to see if she had any text messages. Aunt Julie always texted her during her break to check up and Aislinn knew her missing a text would not bode well for the woman’s’ blood pressure. Now that that sacred duty was done Aislinn sighed and took out her Ipod, quickly putting one ear bud into the ear facing the wall and cueing up Brick By Boring Brick by Paramore.
‘So one day he found her crying/coiled up on the dirty ground/her friends finally came to save her/and the rest you can figure out...’ Haley sung into her ear, backed up by a fast drum beat and mellow electric guitar.
Aislinn guessed that was almost the story of her life as far as boys went. Of course, she didn’t really have a prince but she supposed that her friends did save her when she’d fallen and couldn’t quite pick herself back up (metaphorically at first). She’d watched as their boyfriends and girlfriends came and went like seasons, some seasons significantly longer then others, without any kind of envy for them. Sure, she’d wondered what it would be like to be in a serious relationship (the closest thing she’d ever come to being a on-a-whim prom date in 9th grade) but it wasn’t as if she’d envied her friends their relationships. But now, having just turned 18 years old and now being technically an adult she often wondered if it was strange to not at least have had one boyfriend to her name. She knew her Aunt and friends would all say no, most of her crowd having hooked up later in their lives rather then sooner. But still….
“Thanks.” She said, glancing up from pondering the pattern of the wood grain on the glossy table infront of her with a polite smile to the waitress who brought her her turkey club, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to hear the ring of the Lafayette’s bell from across the bar as a sign that it was ready. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ words ? six hundred sixty-two (662) muse ? really good! tags ? Damian hoped he wasn't scaring the girl as he looked across the table at her. He sat his book down and sat his Ipod next to it and looked over as she talked.
“Um, no, not long. I just started a few weeks ago….and it’s part time anyway.”
Damian looked at her and that explained the reasoning behind him not seeing her. He only came during the night time and she most not of worked then, or he would of noticed her. She was pretty and seemed sweet and innocent.
“It’s…it’s Aislinn. Sorry, but, uh, do I know you?”
"That's a very pretty name." Damian looked up blushing. And his hair wasn't able to hide it. "No you don't know me. I am friends with Sam's girlfriend. So I am here often," he smiled. "I am sorry if I am freaking you out. But I was just wondering because I haven't seen you around." __________Clothes: hereTag: AislinnMuse: not so goodNotes: None

Aislinn didn’t notice the man’s presence until he’d started speaking, to engrossed in her music and her fries to look up. When she did though it was with a bit of a start and with a large amount of surprise to see who was talking to her. It’ wasn’t as if she knew who he was on site, not at all, she was just surprised to see she didn’t know him. She wouldn’t consider it usual for someone she didn’t know at all to suddenly approach her on her break and strike up a conversation. He was good looking though, that was for certain, but why was he talking to her?
She didn’t say much at first, though she did realize he had asked her a question. She was to busy studying him, trying to figure out if she knew him or not. Or maybe it was actually possible that she didn’t know him and he didn’t know her, making him a suspiciously friendly stranger. It wasn’t as if he seemed to be flirting with her, asking if she’d worked there long not exactly an opening line that would suggest that. Putting down her fry she wiped her hands on the paper napkin before turning the volume down on her music so she could better hear him.
“Um, no, not long. I just started a few weeks ago….and it’s part time anyway.” Aislinn replied, her tone speaking of nervousness and a reluctance to answer him.
When he extended his hand to her she considered that odd as well, a handshake something one didn’t see very much now-a-days. Still, she couldn’t simply ignore the hand without seeming very rude or very socially inept. So, after a split second of indecision she shook his hand lightly with a nervous smile. She was shocked again when he sat down, though she supposed that really wasn’t very unusual among teens like the handshake was.
“It’s…it’s Aislinn.” She said, still unsure about talking to this stranger. Still, he did seem her age (or at least very close to it) and there was that invisible code of trust between teenagers, one that said most teen aged strangers weren’t apt to harm like most adult ones were and ones that were you could get an immediate read on.
“Sorry, but, uh, do I know you?” she asked, the question a bit obvious as he had shook her hand and introduced himself but one she felt she needed to ask.
It was times like this that Aislinn vehemently wished she wasn’t so very standoffish and strange with people she didn’t know. Maybe this was part of the reason she’d never really dated, she tended to put off most of the cute guys with her weird reaction to anyone she didn’t know.

Aislinn was surprised by Damian’s sudden change in attitude. He’d gone from an outgoing and bold boy that simply walked up to a stranger and invited themselves to sit down to an embarrassed boy handing out compliments about her name. And he was one of the only people who had pronounced it right without any correction. Even after she would very clearly tell people her first name most didn’t quite hear her correctly and get it wrong anyway.
“ Oh…thanks….” Aislinn said, her pale complexion lighting up with a soft pink shade as the blood rushed to her face and she ducked her head to pick through her fries to hide it.
Now she was sure, the compliment having cemented it in her mind, he was definitely flirting with her, though weither or not it was intended she didn’t know. He was very good looking and didn’t seem to be all boldness and sociability as he had when he’d first appeared, a quality she often found startling in people. She liked this side of him more, the more quiet and closer-to-her-own-personality side that he was showing. She was a bit surprised (both at herself and at Damian) and worried when he apologized for scaring her, afraid she had scared him off with her attitude and that he would leave. She had a sudden and fierce desire for him not to simply get up and walk out of her life, the one he’d just strode right into. She took a covert deep breath to attempt to force herself to stop being so awkward around the one person she suddenly actually wanted to stick around and spoke up.
“Yeah, I’ve seen her around a few times before when she visits Sam…. And it’s not your fault at all, I’m just….weird about people I don’t know…. It’ll stop if you stick around long enough” Aislinn admitted haltingly, convinced that Damian would call her strange as most people did when she told them the reason for her attitude when all she wanted was for him to actually want to stick around.
She was very confused as to how she was acting. She had never been this friendly with anyone before, most of the time letting the conversation drop off into awkward silence until the new person could no longer stand it, got up and left. But Damian was different. The way he had approached her, while outgoing and shining with energy and curiosity in a way that was a bit starveling to Aislinn, wasn’t at all the ‘I’m the greatest thing you’ll see tonight’ attitude that most boys approached her with. And it seemed that his claim of just being curious about the unknown person at a place he seemed to frequent was true and not just some cover up that gave them an excuse to come over and flirt with her. And it was even rarer still that the boy blushed when giving the girl a compliment, showing a certain humility.
Aislinn only then realized she had been looking…no…staring at Damian while she’d been assessing him in her head. She very quickly dropped her gaze to the stylized script printed on the damp plastic surface of her drink cup that proclaimed the name of the establishment and a few other things on the opposite side which she suddenly seemed to find intensely interesting. But she knew he’d caught her, even a blind person would have been able to feel her staring at him, and the blush that rose to her face was one no amount of hair could hide.

Damian was watching her carefully, trying to see how she reacted. He didn't understand why he was doing this, but she made him feel different. Not like Alicia or Brandy had in the past. But in her own way and he just met her.
“ Oh…thanks….”
Damian watched her duck her head but he couldn't keep his eyes off her and decided to look down at his book. He felt the blood rush to his face as he pretended to read his book while trying not to look up at her.
“Yeah, I’ve seen her around a few times before when she visits Sam…. And it’s not your fault at all, I’m just….weird about people I don’t know…. It’ll stop if you stick around long enough”
Damian looked up as she spoke up and what she said startled him. "I don't find you weird at all. And I wasn't planning on leaving." He wasn't that type of person. If Damian was going to leave he wouldn't of came to begin with. He just wasn't that type.
Damian noticed as she stared at him, so he looked up and caught her eye before she ducked down. He noticed as the blood rushed to her face and thought that it made her really pretty. "Um..your really pretty....when you blush," he said afraid she'd take it the wrong way. And he felt his own blood rush to his face.

Aislinn looked up from her fries when Damian said he wasn’t planning on leaving, relief and happiness flooding her as well as more confusion because of it. She was surprised that Damian didn’t find her awkwardness unusual as most people she met did. Then again…Damian was turning out to be anything but most people. She felt the blood rise to her face again when he said she was pretty when she blushed despite her immediate wish not to. It wasn’t that she didn’t like his compliment, it was simply that she always felt the need to not do something when someone complimented her on it.
“Um….thanks…” she said, looking down and to the right at the salt shakers lined up against the napkin dispenser on the table, and tucking her hair behind her ear.
Her embarrassment wasn’t helping things, only making them more and more awkward for Aislinn. She wracked her brain for something to break the tension, any question to ask that wouldn’t be completely obvious or already been answered. After a few moments of thinking and coming up with nothing simple and light to ask Aislinn dug up a bit of courage and glanced over at Damian to see he wasn’t fairing much better as far as blushing went. She sighed heavily and felt the need to put her head on the table in defeat but resisted the urge.
“ Sorry, I’m not very good with things like this.” She said, gesturing back and forth between the two of them to reveal what the ‘this’ she was talking about was as her gaze fell onto his Ipod, “….What are you listening to?”
That wasn’t a very good question, but it wasn’t as lame as the only thing she had been able to come up with by far. She hoped it was a band she recognized so they would have something to talk about and break the awkwardness that came with complimenting eachother (or…at least Damian complimenting her, Aislinn hadn’t been very generous with the compliments).

Damian watched as Aislinn's face turned pink once again. She was a very pretty woman, and unlike the other girls he has been with, she wasn't trying to hard. She wasn't outgoing like Brandy or rude like Alicia.
"Your welcome," he said softly, watching as she looked down. For some weird reason, her shyness just made her all that more beautiful.
Damian kept his stare down at his book, during the whole awkward silence. But it seemed that Aislinn wasn't going to let him leave or the silence to continue. "I'm not either." That was somewhat true. That's why he dated outgoing women, because it helped him. But he liked this women more then the other two.
"Um..I am not sure if you'd know this," he whispered. Damian cleared his throat and looked down at his book. "It's The Islander by Nightwish."

Well at the very least the pair had their horrible social skills in common with eachother. Then again that only made the situation more awkward, but Aislinn was secretly glad Damian wasn’t loud or outgoing, as those types of people were initially very off-putting to her. She had heard his whisper and knew he was partially right the second he said the name of the band. She’d heard of Nightwish but had never listened to them, mostly being a fan of Paramore and Cat Power and other girl bands.
“I’ve heard of them, but I don’t really know them.” She admitted, picking up her Ipod and waking it up to see what she had been listening to, “ ‘In This Hole’ by Cat Power?” She figured there was no way Damian had ever heard of the little known folk band just as she didn’t really know Nightwish, so music (at least in the preliminary sense) was out on the ‘things we have in common’ list. Looking down at her fries she picked one up, dipped it into the little pool of ketchup near the pile of fries and took a bite out of it. She then pushed her plate to Damian, feeling a bit bad that she was eating while he wasn’t but she really couldn’t help it: she’d skipped breakfast in a mad dash to make it to work on time when she’d woken up much later then she normally would. “……You can have some if you want. I feel bad that I’m the only one eating.” She said, speaking the truth. Glancing at the clock on her Ipod as it went to sleep she saw her break was already 5 minutes gone by, though it had seemed like she had started talking to Damian ages ago in a good way. She wished her break was longer then 15 minutes and hoped he would stick around so they she could wait on him and talk to him that way, something she knew she shouldn’t want to do with a stranger. It would seem stalker-ish and very strange. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ words ? three hundred forty-seven (347) muse ? pretty good tags ? Damian looked at Aislinn with complete intrest, he wanted to know everything about him and her to know the same. Maybe she could go with him to Dallas. If they know each other well enough. He didn't want to go by himself, or with Brandy. But he'd probably ask Brandy and Sam to come along.
"It's okay. It's a Finland band," he looked at her ipod. He didn't know the band she was listening to. So now he knew the music she listened to, one step completed. "And I don't know who your listening to either."
Damian watched as she ate a fry and remembered how hungry he was and the true reason he entered the bar. He knew Brandy wouldn't be here and he wasn't in the mood to deal with Sam and her today.
"Thanks," he took a fry and didn't know what to say next. He thought of what to say while chewing. He didn't want to get up and leave and never see him again. "Are you going to be at the Halloween party?" Damian had to be there, well not really. But being friends to the planner kinda gives you an obligation.

She couldn’t help but sigh at the mention of the Halloween party. Sam had assured her that it would be a very busy night, and for any waitress a busy night automatically translated into a stressful one. She probably wouldn’t have gone to a party of that sort anyone, being the kind of girl to go to a place when it was devoid or people with a small group of friends to just hang out instead of going to a place when it was packed full of people for a party. Still, Aislinn had to attend the Halloween party, she was working that night, despite her attempts to get that night off. As Sam had said before they needed all the people they could get to come in.
“Unfortunately. I have to work that night, so it won’t exactly be fun. At the very least I get to wear what I actually want.” She said with a sigh, running her hands through her hair at the sheer thought of the small bar packed with so many people, picking at her Merlotte’s uniform t-shirt that she had on under her hoodie as an example of something she didn’t want to actually wear.
“Are you going?” she asked, hoping he was and therefore would offer some reprieve from the chaos that night was sure to be filled with, playing it off as being purely curious.
Taking a sip from her drink she wiped the condensation that had collected on the cup off of her hand and onto her jeans. If Damian were really friends with Sam’s girlfriend as he had said she supposed he had to go just as much as she did, being friends with the person who was putting on the whole event. She noticed then how much attention Damian was paying to her when she spoke, another thing unseen by Aislinn in other guys. Most of them were paying more attention to what she looked like physically then what she actually had to say. Perhaps it was because of the fact that Damian was so unlike other guys that she was already beginning to loosen up around him, a completely unheard of thing for Aislinn so early into meeting someone.

Damian looked at her, watching her as she thought. He always found his own head comforting and enjoyed watching people contemplate things. He thought how Aislinn looked lovely when she was thinking. "Well I hope we could spend some of that night together," he blurted. 'Opps,' he thought. He didn't know why he said that but it was true her presence just made him want to go even more.
"Yeah, I kinda have to," he smiled. "Plus I want to now." He never understood his bluntness or his shyness. Or how he could be both all at once. "You know when you are thinking you look beautiful and thoughtful." He wanted to stay with her his whole day and compliment and learn new things about her.
"When do you get off?" he asked silently. He either wanted to stay the whole time and keep ordering just to speak with her, or even to come back and spend the rest of the night with her. "I don't understand this but for some reason I don't want to leave." He was going to tell her the truth or he'd feel horrible lying.

“Uh, yeah…” Aislinn began, a blush rising to her cheeks at Damian’s words of wanting to hang out at the party, “That’d be….nice.”
‘Nice’ sounded like an understatement. She was extremely happy that Damian was going to the party, because in her mind he would be the bright spot in that otherwise dark night. She didn’t understand where this sudden blunt side came from, very different from the blushing boy that had been sitting across from her before. It wasn’t entirely unpleasant, just unexpected. She didn’t understand how the shy side and the blunt side could co-exist so seamlessly as they appeared to either. Damian was much more complicated then she’d initially given him credit for.
“Thanks…” she muttered to another one of his compliments, her blush darkening and her eyes wandering to study the table grain as she ran a hand through her hair a bit, a simple action done to relieve the nervousness that had built up at his compliments and her complete inability to give them back.
She wasn’t good at this sort of thing, this flirting. Infact she was almost a cripple in that regard. She didn’t take compliments well, tending to clam up and simply blush when they were given, or giving them out for she never really knew the right thing to say that couldn’t have sounded more stupid when she said it.
“ I get off in about 2 hours…” she said quietly, then decided to say the first thing that came to her mind at Damian’s words, “I….don’t want to leave either…which is really confusing, it’s not normal for me…”
Chancing a glance up at him she carefully gauged his expression, his reaction to her words. She supposed she sounded rather clichéd but there was nothing she could do about it now.

When Aislinn said nice Damian's eyes lit up in relief and happiness. He was glad she didn't just get up and leave or scream no. She was different and it made Damian fell weird around her. "I got to say. You are nothing like anyone I know."
Damian's eyes watched Aislinn waiting for her to speak and when she did he caught site of a deep red. He heard her say she didn't want to leave and he smiled brightly. "Then I will stay here and maybe I can buy you something to eat."
Damian looked at the women across from him and couldn't help but want to know more about her."I don't know why but I feel like..." he trailed off. "Like...all I want is to be with you, around you and to know you inside and out...up and down...front and back and everywhere in between." He said this before he could stop himself and felt it might of sounded like he was being a perv. "Not to sound like a pervert."
