Character History:(Where did you come from? Anything significant in your life?)
Born and raised in a small town in northern Ontario, Canada, Effie graduated high school determined to see the world. Quickly hunting down an international volunteer program, she spent the first six years of her ‘adult life’ helping people in impoverished countries, gaining her both life experiences and a boyfriend –although it could be said that this boyfriend was just another life experience. The relationship had a wonderful beginning and middle, but it had a disappointing end.
Effie met Joel Moase, a sweet, southern gentleman from Bon Temps, in her fourth year while doing orphanage work in Africa, and they hit it off right away. For the next two years they formed a relationship, and when Effie proclaimed she was done with the volunteering part of her life, Joel proclaimed he wanted to still be with her during the next part of her life, and proposed. Without hesitation, she accepted his proposal, and at the end of their contract they went back to Joel’s hometown, where they bought a small (slightly weathered) trailer home.
During the first few months, Effie was joyous with this new part of her life. Then, with the arrival of Joel’s ‘old friend’ Didi Baker, things started going downhill. It didn’t take long for Effie to figure out that ‘old friend’ translated into ‘old f**k-buddy’ which, in turn, translated into ‘current f**k-buddy.’
Now, Effie’s stuck with a run-down trailer home that she can just barely afford with her small cheques from her job at Healthy Living. Needless to say, she’s more than disappointed with how her next part in life had turned out.
Personality in Two Steps:
Effie’s always been warm-hearted, and years of taking care of others has only increased this quality. However, with the constant demand to take care of others, she’s become a bit of a worrywart. When she’s not fretting over someone, she’s fretting over something, and often finds herself getting stressed out over silly things. Due to this stress, Effie’s also developed a bit of a temper when confronted with ignorant or inane people/situations; though once she huffs and she puffs, she’ll blow herself back down to her usual, almost quiet, self.

Future Plans for your character? Where do you plan to go? I’ll make her a bit of a fang-banger eventually, and I’m tempted to make her an actual vampire (or maybe something else), but I’m not sure if I will yet.
Have you read the books? Watched the show? Both? I’ve watched the show.
Sample RP
When it was announced over the news that vampires are real, and were now expected to be openly walking amongst the living, Effie was shocked.
For a few minutes.
Then she went to bed and dreamt of things that were actually wrong in the world.
At the time, she was working in an under-equipped, under-cared for health centre in the Philippines, and the vampire situation was barely mentioned there, letting Effie remain ignorant of the huge wave social and political debates it created in North America. A lot of the time, she found herself forgetting that vampires had stepped out of fiction, and her and her colleagues often found themselves jokingly wondering which part of the world they’d be in when it was announced that unicorns, werewolves, and aliens were real.
Ironically, going back to North America ended up being a huge culture shock.
Normally, she would have been up in arms over the ignorance and hatred directed towards the vampires, joining activist groups and fighting for rights; but with her new home and engagement, she put it off. As time went on, Effie continued to put it off, saying “I don’t think it’s the right time” and “I’ll do it when I have such and such sorted out.”
Now, sitting behind the cash register at Healthy Living and trying to look like she actually cares about the obese woman whining about how her leg joints hurt (and suppressing the urge to say “Really? You can’t figure out why you’re in pain? No inkling at all? Here’s a clue: carry around over 300 pounds of stuff with you for a day, and see how you feel!”), she finds her mind drifting off to the work she imagines a vampire rights activist would do. Occasionally, her mind drifts off to other things she might do with a vampire; with a slight blush, she forces herself back to reality, every time trying and failing to keep her voice from squeaking when she makes a purchase suggestion to the woman.
It’s with an audible sigh of relief that Effie wishes the woman a nice day as she watches her get into a motorized scooter and leave the store.
