The car came to a scrunching halt upon the gravel, its headlights flickering on and off before being extinguished altogether. Moments later, a young woman emerged from inside, locking the door behind her before taking a moment to gaze around the quiet parking lot, dim in the receding light of approaching dusk. Kate Murray turned around and with long, even strides approached the establishment identified as "Merlotte's Bar and Grill" by a neon sign perched on the low roof, remembering how she'd come to the decision to seek it out. Earlier that day after having checked into a local hotel, Kate had gone shopping for a couple of necessities (toiletries and such), and it didn't take long for the cashier to remark on the fact that she wasn't from around there. Or perhaps people in these tight-knit communities really did know just about everybody. In either case, during the brief time it took for Kate to pay for her groceries, the kindly woman had offered some helpful tips and recommendations as far as shopping and eating in Bon Temps was concerned, placing an emphasis on Merlotte's and something called "Lafayette's Burgers". It sounded like a good place to start exploring, not to mention get something to eat and a drink. Pushing through the door, Kate stopped briefly to glance around the bar's interior; she noted the rows of maroon dining booths, the several tables in front, a pool table just about visible through an arch at one end of the room and, of course, the centrepiece, the bar itself with its gleaming wood panelling. The place had all the trappings of a traditional Southern bar, and was better maintained than Kate would have expected, managing a good balance between modern and old-fashioned. The atmosphere seemed lively even at that hour, proving that the cashier had been right, it was a local hotspot. As she walked in, several pairs of eyes turned to give her a thorough once-over, a few lingering curiously; Kate's outfit and her asymmetrically cropped didn't entirely mesh in with the locals, and apart from that she was about as new as a new face could be – she would have to get used to it for some time to come. Making her way into the smoking section, Kate lowered herself into an empty booth and extracted a pack of cigarettes from her jacket pocket, lighting one and taking a good long swig. In her other hand she held the menu card, which she scanned thoughtfully: they did indeed serve a meal called "Lafayette's Burgers" and within the drinks selection they listed TruBlood...interesting. Did that mean they were expecting vampire customers?

Pam was supposed to meet her store's manager this evening at the shifters bar. She didn't understand why Delaney was unable to meet her in Shreveport but since Pam was feeling rather charitable and she had some time off, the trip wasn't as irritating as it could have been.
As she entered the bar Pam noticed Delaney hadn't arrived yet. She did notice however a young lady smoking in the back section. Pam didn't really care one way or the other if humans smoked but as a rule she tried to avoid certain 'donors' that had the habit. As Pam got closer to the human, she could smell something else about her. With the cigarette smoke she wasn't one hundred percent certain but there was a possibility that the female human was also a witch. This was a very interesting situation. She started to sit in a booth but changed her mind last minute. It would be easier to 'escape' if the need arose if she sat at the bar.
Pam slid effortlessly onto the stool. She winked at the new bartender. "True Blood B negative, make sure you keep them coming." Delaney better not be too much longer, Pam hated to be kept waiting almost as badly as her maker.

Kate had been sitting in Merlotte's for only a few minutes when she walked in. Since this section of the bar was located towards the back and fewer people were seated nearby, she commanded a fairly good view of the establishment, not that it would have been difficult to miss the striking blonde who'd just made her way through the entrance and was glancing around. Kate had always been good at telling vampires apart from humans, especially the old ones who positively radiated a certain...otherness. Her grandmother had said witches were deeply attuned to the world around them, natural and supernatural alike, and it was a talent that had come in handy more than once back in LA, with its thriving undead community. To encounter one so soon in Bon Temps, however, was something Kate had been unprepared for, and couldn't help watching the blonde as she made her way through the bar.
The closer the vampire got, the stronger Kate's impression that she hadn't gone unnoticed either became, and for a moment she thought the blonde was going to seat herself in a nearby booth when she suddenly veered away towards the bar. This left her in a bit of a predicament: if she was right, the vampire had been tempted to sit somewhere Kate could approach her, and whether she was completely off her mark or the woman had simply changed her mind, the ball was now in her court. Bothering a vampire who didn't want to be bothered being a tricky situation, Kate hesitated, but only momentarily: she was the sort of person who, if wanting to know something, she went and found out.
As she made her way towards the bar, Kate prepared her introduction; somehow “I watched you come in, and I think you might've noticed me too” sounded very, very off, and Kate smirked privately at the thought: “Making it sound like the cheesiest pickup line on the planet isn't gonna to do you any favors.”
Moments later, she reached the bar and took a seat next to the blond vampire, who now had a bottle of TruBlood in front of her.
“I'd like an iced tea, please”, she told the bartender; Kate would have preferred something stronger, but she was driving. She took a sip, glancing sideways at the woman next to her; Manners, Murray. Ignoring the tiny voice at the back of her mind that warned this might be a mistake, the young witch turned slightly to one side, her lips curving into a smile.
“Hi,” she said. “Am I interrupting?”

Sookie came from the back room. Her lips were very chapped, it must have been the change in the weather or something because she could not even continue talking to the customers to get the much needed tips. With a smile on her face, she made sure her apron was tied well and looked out into the restaurant to see if any new tables or people came in during the short period of time. And she was keen to do so since she saw someone new to Bon Temps and someone very very old. A quick brain scan, she felt the normal nothingness from Pam but got some activity from the other lady that Pam had taken a liking too.
Seemed they both took a seat at the bar, so Sookie was not going to get any tips from them tonight! She walked over to the bar to grab a refill of Tea for a customer and spoke "Hey there Pam, Eric let ya off tonight?" She said with a smile as she looked over to the new girl and listened to her mind for a bit, was she trying to hit on Pam? Not knowing her, Sookie looked and smiled. "Hi there!"

((OOC: jumpin' in if it's aight )) Just another day, another dollar at Merlotte's. Summer was working away doing her own thing. Serving customers and occasionally getting a nice tip that would get put into a highball glass at the back counter. She'd just put out two Budweisers onto Arlene's tray and as she made her way back to the bar to take another order, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. A vampire was close by. focus Summer...just another customer. Forget what it is and serve Summer grumbled in her head. One downside about working with the public was dealing with the Vampires. Not something Summer relished at all, quite the opposite. But she was professional and did the best she could. It was either that or have Sam fire her ass and Summer needed this job. Now her inheritance was all but gone, the bar work at Merlotte's was her only income. "B negative comin' up." Summer said with a plastered on smile, and then she suddenly recalled who this Vampire was. Not by name, but by seeing her at the recent Halloween party. She had intervened and kept Jack from causing any problems. So for that at least, Summer was thankful. Summer grabbed a bottle of the synthetic blood from the small chiller under the back counter and placed it into the microwave and pressed in the allotted time and took another order while the blood heated slowly. "Ice Tea. No problem" Summer smiled more genuinely at the stranger to Bon Temps. Summer took a moment to reflect that thought. She was no longer a newcomer and was part of the large extended family of this quaint, but supernaturally charged little town. Summer went towards the back counter and made up the ice tea, putting a slice of lemon on the side of the saucer. Best to put it there and not in it. Best to let the customer decide something like that. BINGSummer made her way over to the microwave and took out the heated bottle of blood and wrapped a Merlotte's emblazoned napkin around it and picked up the ice tea and made her way over to her two customers. Summer smiled at Sookie, "Hey Sook." She hadn't worked long with Sookie but what she did know of her, she liked her. She was sweet and perky. "One ice tea" Summer said placing it in front of the dark haired girl. "And one B Neg" she said putting the synthetic in front of the blonde Vampire.

The smell of dog filled the air and Pam looked up at the bartender serving her drink. It was not surprising that Sam would hire another shifter but it was surprising that this shifter, who was a member of the Shreveport pack, was working here and not at the Shreveport shifter club or what ever it was called.
Pam smiled at the shifter and flashed some fang. No matter how well the young one tried to hide it, disdain was dripping off her shoulders. "Thank you sweetling, this is greatly appreciated." The blonde vampire turned to face the young witch. "No darling, you are not interrupting just yet. In fact, until my faithful employee arrives I would enjoy the company."
As soon as the words left her mouth, the blonde vampire felt her favorite telepath enter the room. She smiled brightly. "Sookie, you are looking as lovely as ever." Pam chuckled at the comment. "My leash isn't as short as you may think little barmaid. I have a meeting here this evening and you tell Eric to mind his own business if you see him." She winked playfully at her human friend. All these new meeting were going to be very interesting and Pam couldn't wait to see what kind of trouble she turned up!
