What do you look like? Give us a brief description of how your person looks or post an image here.
Model: Lauren Peralta
Additional notes on her appearance: Kate is short, about 5'2 and very pale. She has a large tattoo winding across her left side , a navel piercing, several in her ears and a septum piercing she doesn't always wear. Her taste in clothing can best be described as "alternative" though she doesn't subscribe to any particular subculture; she likes her clothes comfortable and form fitting, though she does enjoy primping for a night out.
Character History:(Where did you come from? Anything significant in your life?)
Kate has always been fascinated with the supernatural, long before the Great Revelation took place and her childhood fantasies became a reality.
She was born in the suburbs of Los Angeles to a mildly religious middle class family like so many others, and if the popular saying "When other little girls wanted to be princesses, I wanted to be a vampire" could be said to have applied to anyone, it would have been Kate. She devoured all the fantasy books and, later, horror novels and movies she could get her hands on, more or less in secret from her parents who disapproved of her growing predilection for the mysterious and the macabre, but like most people would, considered it a phase she would eventually grow out of.
In contrast with the Murrays, Kate's maternal grandmother Iris Leahy shared the girl's passion for the supernatural, glad to supply her with new material as well as hours of engaging conversation on the subject. Her home had always fascinated Kate, for it was not quite like other homes: there were shelves full of strange paraphernalia, bookcases stacked with tomes in no language Kate could read, and always an odd scent that seemed to linger about the place. What Kate didn't know was that her grandmother was the leader of a local coven and a powerful witch.
When the vampires "came out of the coffin", as they put it, Kate was exhilarated, hardly daring to believe that something that has filled her imagination for so long existed for real. Despite the temptation to meet one up close, Kate didn't go out of her way to do it; she disliked the "fangbanger" lifestyle, considering their obsession painfully naive and misguided.
One day, life took an abrupt and unpredictable turn: Kate's grandmother confided in her with a revelation that went deeper than the young woman could ever have guessed: she told her of her powers, and hinted at the other supernatural species that lurked beyond the fringes of human society even as vampires hogged the limelight. She wished to take Kate on as an apprentice, which she agreed; if she expected to find the rest of the coven as tolerant of vampires as she was however, she would have been disappointed. As time went by, the disapproval Kate's parents had always felt towards her interests developed into fullblown contempt now that they knew it went far beyond fiction and, to make things infinitely worse, they were approached by a Fellowship of the Sun emissary; they were only too happy to convert, in the hope that their newfound faith could bring their daughter back from the "path of darkness", as they called it. Kate's relationship with them deteriorated rapidly until the day she decided to leave for good: together with a friend and fellow coven member she rented a small apartment, much to the chagrin of her parents.
Not long after, tragedy struck: Kate's grandmother was found murdered in her house, and though the evidence pointed towards a human perpetrator, the Murrays were convinced a vampire was responsible. They claimed Kate would be next with her "unhealthy obsession with the undead", which was when the harassment began. At first, all Kate received were leaflets from the Fellowship, but when that failed to get a reaction, she became the target of contempt-laced preaching, growing more intrusive with each passing week. It was a difficult time for her, distraught as she was by her grandmother's death, until one day, a Fellowship woman proved overzealous in her approach. Kate reacted, leaving her with a bloody nose, but this small victory didn't make her feel any better. Everywhere she turned, she saw emptiness and grief until it become too stifling to endure.
So, she left again. With nothing but a large duffel bag on the backseat of her car, Kate took off one morning and drove aimlessly until she arrived to a small town so unlike the one she came from...she had arrived to Bon Temps.
Personality in Two Steps:
A Brief Paragraph about your personality
Direct and with a predilection for dry wit, Kate doesn't take herself too seriously. Obviously educated and articulate, she tends to be polite and agreeable unless given a reason to be otherwise. Her anger isn't easily stirred, she would sooner become openly scornful than aggressive, but is prone to rather unpredictable reactions if pushed over a certain line. Underneath a laid back exterior burns a passionate heart, making Kate truly dedicated to people and causes she believes in. Her supportive attitude towards vampires (and secretly other supes) goes beyond her personal reasons: she believes everyone deserves a chance and dislikes intolerance based on ignorance and fear.

Future Plans for your character? Where do you plan to go?
As a witch, I'd like for her to join a coven, and maybe find a mentor; I'm equally interested in her meeting some vampires or other supes, though not limited to it. I'm open to pretty much anything as long as it's a fun and interesting plot, so feel free to make suggestions if you have any!
Have you read the books? Watched the show?
Watched the show and read all books except the last one which I haven't found yet.

They'd called her a fangbanger, among other things.
Kate's nose wrinkled in distaste as she remembered all the self-righteous insults hurled at her by those Fellowship minions during the last few weeks prior to her departure from LA, yet the dull ache in her heart lingered. She hated herself for it, she hated that she cared...not about what those idiots thought, but because she knew her parents had been behind it.
Ah well, life moves on, and all that jazz, Kate told herself bracingly as she gazed out of the window of her car, parked as it was on the side of the road in Bon Temps Town Center. Her fingers drumming lightly across the steering wheel she watched people and vehicles filter by, taking in the features of the place with a newcomer's curiosity. There wasn't much to see: just the center of a small Southern town like so many others, but Kate welcomed the change.
Bon Temps was certainly...different, and it would take some adjusting to, but it was the sort of sleepy, weatherbeaten little town where everyone knew everyone and life followed a slow, regular pace – what could possibly go wrong?
