Character History:(Where did you come from? Anything significant in your life?)
Tabitha was born in Salem Massachusetts at the very beginning of the Salem Witch Trials. When her mother, Susannah Martin, was tried as a witch and convicted, 7 months after Tabitha was born, her father found that dealing with the death of his wife while trying to take care of a new baby was far too stressful to him, so he wrote to his sister Sara, begging her to take Tabitha. She and her husband agreed, and Tabitha was whisked away to her aunts house in a small village about half a days trip from Salem.
For 17 years, Tabitha lived happily, never doubting her 'mother' and 'father' in any matter. But the time had come for rebellion. Tabby wasn't stupid, she knew her blonde hair and blue eyes did not match Mary and William's dark features. She did not look like any of her other siblings, and she saw the towns-peoples disapproving glances when she called them her brothers and sisters. She had to know if the whispers about her were true. On her 18th birthday, she asked why she was different than the rest of them, why people stared. They realized they could hide the truth from her no longer. They sat her down and told her the whole truth, including her mothers witchcraft. Upset and in hysterics, Tabitha ran out into the neighboring woods, where she promptly got lost.
She wandered for hours, not knowing exactly where she was, but knowing that it was exactly where she wanted to be. Away from her lying Aunt and Uncle. Knowing that they would care too much and be too understanding only made her angrier. Before she knew it, the sun had gone down, and she had no hope of finding her way home. It was then that she saw him. He was beautiful, with shoulder length black hair, and dark eyes that glowed in the moonlight. He was pale, the moonlight shifting through the trees adding more so to the effect, and he was completely naked. Too curious to avert her eyes, Tabitha gaped at him. He chuckled, and asked her what she was doing in the woods. Ignoring his question, she asked if he was a witch. He had grinned, and told her his name was John, while pulling from a tree a pair of brown pants. She called him beautiful and he said the same for her. They talked until her eyelids drooped, and all she had time for was to tell him where she lived before she fell asleep. The next morning, she awoke in the grass at the mouth of the woods behind her house. Figuring thw whole thing was a dream and she never wandered too far, she went inside to punishment and chores.
Later on that night, A tapping at Tabithas window awoke her, and she pulled back the curtains to see the man from the night before. She flung open her window and bid him come inside without a second thought. They resumed their conversation from the night before, and she confided in him every thought that had crossed her mind that day, like practicing witchcraft, to see what about it had allured her mother to such a life against God. Her insecurities, and her worries that her good looks will get her married to a horrible man who wouldn't care for her. He listened to her worries thoughtfully, and his expression was too much for her. She leapt forward, and caught his mouth with hers. He caught her and kissed her back, deeply. Not wanting to upset her God, Tabby pulled back, only to see his fangs. Naturally, being a child of God, she freaked out, biting back a scream that had bubbled in her throat. Knowing this would happen, he grabbed her face and glamored her, only willing her not to scream. He explained that while he was a monster, he did care for her already. He would leave, and if she wanted to see him again, she should leave her window open at night.
It was a very warm two weeks. But in the end, is promise and his words and stories led her to open her window after everyone else went to bed. He returned, wary. They got to know each other more, and as months went on, Tabitha found herself growing affection toward her would-be demon. They kept careful not to touch, so when she grabbed his hand before sunrise and stared into his eyes, he stopped short. Tentatively, she kissed him again. It was quick, and it was frightened, but it spoke volumes. The next night she asked him what it meant to be what he was. Was it exciting? Did he not have a soul? Was he doomed to eternal d**nation? He didn't have answers, only theories. But she found it all fascinating. What he didn't know at the time was that she had made a decision when she kissed him. That she would join him, and be with him forever. This time, she was not so hesitant with her lips. He was taken aback by surprise, and threw her on the bed. She could take it no longer wither, and he took her that night, biting her in the throes of passion. She found that instead of feeling like she had turned her back on God, she felt closer to him now more than ever. No wonder her mother had dabbled in the dark arts! He explained what would happen if she drank his blood, and she took some, and they had sex a second time, and a third before he explained that sunrise was coming.
By this time it was early December, and her birthday was coming up. In January, she would be forced to marry the magistrates son, and she was desolate. Her hurry to change was painful, and she finally confessed to her John her intentions. He agreed wholeheartedly, wishing that she had asked earlier. She asked to be changed on her birthday, so she wouldn't get confused as to what day to celebrate, so on the evening of the 23rd of December, Tabitha ran away, leaving only a note. She met John in the woods and the process took place. When she awoke she was beautiful, cold, dead, and thirsty.
For years they roamed the world, feeding where they pleased, living where they pleased, and generally doing what they pleased. One night, tragedy struck. It was Paris, and Tabitha and John were running from the vampire queen in the late 1830's. John had displeased her, and she had ordered him dead. They got cornered in an alley, and the queen showed mercy to John by sparing Tabitha. After living almost a century in the city of love, Tabitha found she could no longer stand it. She fled, trying to flit from place to place, on a hunt for somewhere that didn't sicken her. She was overcome with grief, and it took her a while to get over it. The death of her maker, coupled with the death of the only man she had ever loved had crippled her right up until the 1960's. The vibe coming from the youth, and the feeling of rebirth was uplifting in a weird way. She moved back to her old hometown, and found her headstone, where an empty plot sat beneath. She discovered that the story was that she was taken by the Devil in the form of suicide. Nice.
Since vampires came out of the coffin, Tabitha has been looking for a place to go. Her newfound freedom from the shadows was odd, and difficult to adjust to at times. Bit it was there, and she decided to enjoy herself like always. The pull that always brought her to new places has just landed her in Shreveport, where she has heard faint rumors of trouble. And where there's trouble, Tabitha is sure to find it.
Personality in Two Steps:
Making no effort to mainstream, Tabitha drinks Tru Blood only at parties. She is entranced by fangbangers, and secretly wonders if she looked that desperate as a human. Having wanted to be an actress since the concept was developed, she sometimes poses as a fangbanger, to see how many creatures she can fool. She treats her immortality, not as a reason to think herself a God, but instead to have an excuse to have fun.
Since her re-awakening, Tabitha has enjoyed frequent bouts of sex ad partying, always the first to get the crowd really rolling. But, no matter how happy she looks on the outside, she is always secretly grieving over the loss of John, reasoning that he wouldn't want her unlife to be wasted. She tries to make the most of everything, with a tendency to be a bit extravagant, ostentatious, and over-dramatic.

Future Plans for your character? Where do you plan to go?
I'm not exactly sure. She might become crazy jealous of Sookie and try to do away with her, or maybe she might set fire to Fangtasia. I'm not too sure, but whatever it is, she'll make things interesting.
Have you read the books? Watched the show? Both
I've read Dead Until Dark (Until I get my hands on the rest), and have watched every episode to date (wait till summer. Grr.)
