How she'd be soothed, how she'd be saved if he could see She needs to be held in his arms to be free •• ¤ •• ¤ •••• •• •• •• ¤ •• ¤ •• •• •• •• •• ¤ •• ¤ •• •• •• •• •• ¤ •• ¤ •• Shreveport, Louisiana. It was better than North Dakota. Her father had been transferred to Shreveport hospital because their home town just didn't have the proper medical equipment and apparently there was a heart attack specialist who worked out of Shreveport.
Her mother, Megan, had phoned Brandy to tell her of the bad news and Brandy left Bon Temp's so that she could be with her father while he was in the hospital. It was a gloomy, heart breaking time for Brandy - who didn't even take a bus, in fact she had simply teleported into her mother's motel room.
Teleporting for the first time - that was a big deal for Brandy. She hoped that maybe, the news to her father would help him get better. Maybe, there was even some spell that she could perform to make his pain go away? That was part of the reason she had came as quickly as she did.
She was a level 5 witch now, she had the world of magic at her fingertips. There was so many things she could do, so many possibilities.. nobody that she was close too and nobody that she cared for would have to suffer again. Surely.
But that wasn't the reason that Brandy was curled up on a motel room bed, her right hand that held her cellphone trembling. Her mother was holding her, her own tears dry as she rubbed her daughters shoulder's.
Brandy was frozen inside, her knees up to her chest, as her caramel brown hues stared at Sam's number on her phone. She hadn't pushed send. Her mother finally spoke."You should call him. I am sure he will come."Brandy was numb. But finally she had nodded. Shreveport wasn't far, he could be here within the next half hour if she wanted. If only she could teleport him to her, but her magic didn't work that way. She could.. relocate him, if he was in front of her, but not that far - it took too much energy.
Energy and magic that she didn't have right now.
She pressed send and when he answered she didn't say much. She could barely choke out the words that passed her lips."Please. Come."Her mother took the phone from her, explaining to Sam where the motel was but nothing else. With a soft sigh, she passed the phone to Brandy and kissed the top of her head."I have to go to the hospital and speak to the doctors. We need to make.. arrangements."Brandy only managed a pitiful nod."I will be back in a bit, I promise. Did you want me to wait till Sam gets here?"Brandy shook her head."I'll come back with some food."Brandy wanted to protest, but she couldn't. She didn't want to do anything, except just sit there.. and wishing it all wasn't true.Tag: Sam Music: 'Fallen' Sarah McLaughan Notes:Yay Muse.

Sam had been sitting in the back office. His mind had been on Brandy constantly since Halloween. The night she got the worst news a daughter could possibly get. Her father was ill, gravely so and the news shook Sam as in the short time he'd known Brandy's father he seemed perfectly healthy. His heart went out to his girlfriend who was suffering terribly, as well as Brandy's mother. He couldn't imagine what it was they were going through. Even though he'd came close to death himself and witnessed it several times since moving to Bon Temps. This was different.
His phone vibrated angrily at him and Sam stared at it for a while. Then he picked it up and flipped it open. Brandy's words were short and pained. Then the voice of her mother came through and Sam sat upright instinctively. She explained the whole thing in an understandibly muted, sombre tone. Sam nodded and said his goodbyes and hung up. He pressed his phone to his lips and closed his eyes. He'd call Summer, she was always looking for extra hours and money. She was an exceptional employee and could handle looking after the bar in his absence.
Sam called her up and Summer said she'd be there as soon as she could. Sam would leave as soon as she arrived.
45 painstaking minutes passed and Summer came through the back entrance and knocked on the open office door. "Sam?" she said softly. "Go on, get outta here. She needs you."
Sam nodded in thanks and almost cried when Summer took an opportunity to hug her boss...her friend. "Thanks Summer, I owe you one..no about a hundred."
"Shhhh" Summer prised away from Sam and gave him a warm look. "Just go, be with her and please tell her Evan and I are thinking about her, k?"
Sam nodded and grabbed his truck keys and headed out the bar and towards the motel in Shreveport.

It had been almost two hours since her mother had talked to Sam, since she had called Sam to come to Shreveport. Her mother hadn't come back yet, there was a lot to do and her mother always had a knack of showing up when she was most needed.
Her mother wasn't needed right now. Just four silent walls. Four walls, a window, a bed. Brandy was numb, her legs curled up to her chest as she sat in the middle of the bed with her back to the door.
When Sam were to pull up,Brandy would be in the exact same position. Her mind, just a blank slate as if she didn't even exist at that moment. Nothing seemed to even be real.Tag: Sam Music: 'Lucky' Bif Naked Notes:It was just the song I was listening too

The journey into Shreveport was a quiet one for Sam. His mind was on so many things at once. He'd tried listening to some radio stations to take his mind off the sadness, but it was no use they all just succeeded in giving him a headache. He found his way to the Motel and pulled into the parking lot and got out the cab and made his way into the reception hall to announce himself and let Brandy or her mother know he had arrived.
He paced the lobby waiting on the nod to allow him to pass through and to the motel room to Brandy. He wasn't sure what to say to her. But he just had to be there with her. It was the very least he could do for her.

She had opened it, and stepped outside - wondering why Sam wasn't there yet. It had been over a hour, he should of been there already. In truth, Brandy hadn't been thinking clearly and she was leaning against motel room door when she spotted another woman having a cigarette in the next room over.
The women in the lobby had told Sam to go on through, just as Brandy had approached the woman outside and asked to bum a cigarette. The woman had nodded, making small talk with Brandy as Brandy tucked the cigarette in between her lips. Did Brandy smoke? Never in her life.. did it seem like a good time to start?
.. oh most definitely.

Sam had been given the go ahead to make it through to the motel rooms and passed through a set of red double doors towards the room number he had been given. He was rushing his way through and his eyes went from sad to surprise, his eyebrows raised as he saw Brandy putting a cigarette between her lips and started to light it.
"Brandy!" Sam called out to her, not masking his surprise. "What are you doing?" he asked, his voice softening as he made it to her side. What the hell was she thinking? Sam had never seen Brandy like this ever. Not even during the Maryann crisis. The whole situation with her father was making her reckless.

She turned to see him coming toward her and she could barely speak.. let alone move."What are you doing?"She stared at him for a few moments, as if he was speaking Russian, and then she had led him into the motel room, closing the door behind her. She was obviously upset, but she was somewhere between 'reality' and 'nonreality'. Sam knew that Brandy had come to see her father in the hospital.. but what he didn't know was that... "... I was too late Sam. When I arrived here, he was already gone... I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye.."Her voice had caught in her throat about half way through the explanation, and it was hard for her to choke through the words that just wouldn't come without hysterical tears interlaced in them.

Brandy took Sam into the room, her body language was riddled with pain and anguish. Then she turned her face towards his, her eyes red and puffy and her expression confirmed his suspicions.
"... I was too late Sam. When I arrived here, he was already gone... I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye.."
Brandy tried to get the words out, but they were choked and staggered. Sam's face immediately softened and he wrapped his arms around her. "Oh chere. I'm sorry....I'm so so sorry." he held onto her tightly. Not wanting to let her go. He kissed the side of her head, he had no words for her loss. Nothing that would be worth that much, so he held her and let her lean on him. When she was ready to talk, he would listen.

"Oh chere. I'm sorry....I'm so so sorry."
If she didn't have Sam there, she didn't know what she would do. Well, she probably would be going through it alone but she tried not to think about it. She was content to just stay there like that with her face buried in his shoulder and his arms around her. It wasn't meant to be however, when her mother opened the door and side stepped around them. Brandy pulled away, and she looked at her mother who had some books and pamphlets in her slender hands.
"Hello Sam. Thanks for coming"
Her words were polite but lacked the usual cheerfulness they usually had behind them. She went over to one of the beds and laid the books on the bedside table. Trying to keep her composure was hard, but she fought as hard as she could.. for Brandy's sake.
"The funeral has been arranged for tomorrow after noon at the local church. They will be keeping his body in the funeral home and transporting him out back to North Dakota on Sunday morning so that he can be buried closer to home."
To Brandy, it was like her mom was reading from a script. Brandy remained silent, wrapping her arms around herself and staring at the floor.
"Are both of you spending the night here with me tonight? I hope it isn't too much ask.. but I don't really want to be alone"
Brandy looked at her mother and nodded.
"Of course."
She looked up at Sam, she knew he had a bar to run back home...
"Do you have to get back to the bar, or can you stay here tonight and for the funeral?"

Sam didn't know what to say, so kept silent. Letting Brandy's mother talk. She was struggling, but kept her composure well. Sam hadn't known Megan long, but she seemed like a very strong woman. Needless to say the loss of her husband so suddenly must have been a terrible blow. He couldn't imagine that sort of loss at all, but it certainly puts a lot of things into perspective.
Sam nodded when Megan asked if they'd be staying. "I'll be here. I'll just make a call and everything will be set." Sam hesitated to speak next, unsure if his next words would be considered welcome. But he thought better to say and look like you care and stay quiet and look like an ignorant jackass. "If you need anything, either of you. Just ask." he smiled thinly at Megan and Brandy.
