This was a bad idea. Jogging at night in a creepy town like Bon Temps. "I needed to get my head examined." Kimberly mumbled.
After another row with mother, this time thought on the telephone, she had needed to clear my head. Ever since Nana Deveraux had told Kimberly she was the 17th witch in our family, Kimberly could no longer do anything right in the eyes of Blanche Elizabeth Hollingsworth.
Mama was a true Southern Belle, a Magnolia Queen in high school, big coming out party at 17 and a proper blue blood marriage to George Hollingsworth III while Kimberly was 23, single and most likely would never marry a boy who mama would approve of.
"Peetu, come on boy," she said to her old Australian Terrier. Peetu was 13 and she was pretty sure snails would outpace him, but he was the love of her life. He had been Kimberly's most trusted companion ever since she had been a little girl and she didn't know what she would do without him.
"Why is your mama so loopy sometimes. You are the man of the house Pet-Pet, you should stop me doing these stupid things," Kimberly said mock-sternly to the black and brown terrier. He just looked at her with his big brown eyes and barked gently.
"Lets go home before we get eaten by wood monsters," Kimberly said picking up her pace a little and shaking her head at the thought of anyone hearing her talking to a dog like he could understand what she was saying.

Sookie was in her car, as per usual at this time a night. Merlotte's was busy tonight, on her feet all night long. But the tips were worth it and the fact that she knew she would go home to see Bill, her lover, where she would bask in his love and affection. So, all she really wanted right now was to go home and bask. It was darker than usual, or maybe it was worse because Magnolia Cressent Road was covered in trees, making the dark darker than usual. If that made any sense. Luckily she was in her car, because whenever she decided to walk or run, she was always faced with danger. Something she loathed.
Tonight though, the danger might not have been hers. As she was driving along, she noticed a woman running on the side of the road. Being that Sookie was always thinking the worst, she figured it was best to check and see if this woman was safe or if she was being chased by some creature trying to kill her, which was likely here. Slowing down, Sookie pulled up beside the woman, checking to see if brain waves were there. Check. No vampire. Rolling down her window, she asked "Excuse mam, are you alright?"

"Excuse mam, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm just peachy. Jogging with the dog in a new town and I must be lost. Too bad Peetu had an even worse sense of direction than I do," Kimberly said cheerfully to the blonde stranger who had appeared from out of nowhere when her mind had been occupied with something else. Kimberly sure hoped that the blonde lady didn't hear her talking to her dog, that would just be weird.
"I've just moved here from Atlanta you see and everything's still so new to me. Never lived in a town this small before, you'd think it'd be impossible to get lost around here but I managed it. Mama will surely be proud," Kimblery prattled on, nervously tucking a strand of golden blonde hair behind her ear.
"Oh my stars, where are my manners. I've been yapping on and on and I still ain't told ya my name. Kimberly Hollingsworth, please to meet you," Kimberly said giving the other woman her sunniest smile.

Sookie sensed nothing bad from the girl, nothing that screamed I want to kill things. So, she figured it would be alright to get out of the car. Not too far though, just at the door with it open of course. Grams had always taught Sookie manner, be polite, introduce yourself, help people in need, please and thank you. So, Sookie, in loving memory of Grams continued with the southern manners.
The girl was sure a talker, seemed the jog got her adrenline pumping. Sookie could not help but smile and give a little laugh. "Well, Im Sookie. Sookie Stackhouse. Its a pleasure to meet you." She held out her hand for a shake. "Seems like luck is on your side tonight cause Im a long time citizen of Bon Temps, born and raised. So, I can surely help ya around. Now, where is it you are headin?"

"Nice to meet ya Sookie. I'm trying to find my way to a place called Merlotte's. Everyone keeps telling me that their hamburgers are amazing." Kimberly said rambling again until she noticed the T shirt Sookie was wearing. The white shirt had a green logo that read Merlotte's.
"Do you work there? I'm so blind sometimes," Kimberly said blushing slighty and pointed to Sookie's shirt. She really needed to think more before she opened her mouth.

This girl was sure hyper, as least it seemed so. She had alot to say and got it out fast. Holding her hand on the car door, Sookie replied "Why, I sure do work at Merlotte's." She looked down at her shirt and apron. "They do have pretty nice burgers, though we are known more for the drinks and the gossip." Sookie thought of the time that Lafayette had taken a sthingy and put it over a t hot flame, then, knowlingly placed it in the soup of some men who were obviously crap. It was a very Lafayette things to do. "I can give you a ride there if you would like?"

"I can give you a ride there if you would like?"
"Thank you very much but I don't know if it's a good idea. Not that I don't trust you but my dog is a little unreliable when it comes to new places, I don't want him to pee in your car," Kimberly said picking up Peetu and stroking the dog's soft fur. He was getting old which saddened Kimberly greatly.
"But you could always point me in the right direction to Merlotte's," Kimberly said with a smile and put Peetu back down as the little was startng to squerm in her arms.

Sookie could not help but burst into laughter. The dog peeing in the car. "Well, pee sure aint the worst thing thats been in my car!" She said thought her laughter. This Kimberly was a very funny girl. Was it just the new town don't know anyone feel or her natural energy. Whatever it was, Sookie sure liked her. "I really dont mind giving you a ride." She paused to let it resonate with Kimberly, as Sookie was not at all afraid of a bit of pee. She would rather have the pee than have a dead girl on the side of the road, given Bon Temps recent flare of violence. "But Merlottes is just about 4 miles back that way!" She pointed to the opposite way Kimberly was heading.

"Well if ya sure you don't mind if old Peetu has an accident, then I would definately like a ride. It's getting a bit cold in here," Kimberly smiled brightly and again lifted the dog into her arms, just to ease it's anxiety. She trusted this girl, her witch senses not picking up anything unusual. No dark vibes or anything.
"Thanks again for helping me out. That's real nice of you," Kimberly smiled again, giving the other woman a toothy grin. She was exited that on her first day here, she had met a nice girl and a possible new friend.

Sookie was a bit tickled at the manner in which Kimberly spoke. So spunky. Something Sookie could relate too very well. "Alright then. Jump on in. Ill take you to Merlotte's." She said as she motioned for her to get in the car and herself did the same. But not without trying to take a listen to the girl's mind, as sometimes the most evil of things could hide themselves in this world. "If there is an accident, it aint nothing a little baking soda and Fabreeze couldnt take care of."
As she got in the car, she made sure to turn down the music, since she was singing on her way home, a song that she would rather no one hear. The drive to Merlotte's would not be that long at all, and heck considering all the time she spent there what was another hour or so.

"Well, looks good so far. He ain't scared or anything. I'm really impressed, Peetu seems to like you. He's usually scared of everyone, including his shadow," Kimberly said with amaizement. Her dog was actually sleeping in her lap peacefully without worrying about where he was. He had sniffed Sookie and apparently, he had approved of the woman giving them a ride.
"It's so very kind of you to give us a ride. I'm real glad I ran into you today," Kimberly chatted and gave the woman a warm smile. It had been awhile since she had met a person as nice as Sookie was. People in Atlanta weren't too friendly to strangers, as it was a much bigger place than Bon Temps.

Sookie was a calm kind of person, which she hoped contributed to the dog being so well behaved. "Ain't that cute, the doggy is sleeping!" Sookie replied as she negotiated a left turn on one of the smallest roads in Bon Temps. "It aint no trouble at all Kimberly. I'd much rather give a ride to someone than have them out running, lost, in the dark when vampires can sometimes get hungry!" She spoke, thinking about the bad things. "And even other things that lurk in the dark!"

"Ain't that cute, the doggy is sleeping!"
"Oh yeah, Peetu is real good at sleeping. And eating. That's what he does. He's such a weird dog, he loves grapes more than anything. He's getting on in the years and it bone idle these days." Kimberly laughed, gently petting her beloved pet. She was going to heart-broken the day she had to say goodbye to him.
"It aint no trouble at all Kimberly. I'd much rather give a ride to someone than have them out running, lost, in the dark when vampires can sometimes get hungry! And even other things that lurk in the dark!"
"I ain't afraid of the dark. I like jogging at night when everything's quiet and peaceful. I carry protection and ain't never had a problem, at least not yet. Finger's crossed," she laughed.
"So you said you are a local of the area. That must be nice, living in such a beautiful little town for most of your life," Kimberly said, trying to make polite conversation with the woman who had so graciously offered her a lift.
