Brandy had just got back from Pecanland Mall, parking her old car around the side, directly in sight of Sam's trailer. Merlotte's was quiet and she had decided to take advantage and crawl on the top of her car roof to sit cross-legged on the warm metal surface.
Sam's trailer was in sight, but she didn't know if he was inside. He could of been in the bar and she didn't want to look silly knocking on his door. Besides, she had the urge to read her tarot cards that she usually kept in her glove compartment.
In the back seat of her car was an oversized bag from Perfect Fit, and a shoe box. She hadn't gone back to the duplex yet, instead she had decided she was hungry anyway and curious about the envelope her boss had given her.
Quietly, which didn't matter how loud she was anyway because no-one was around, she had spread out her cards on the roof - a curious look on her face.

It was trash taking out time and everyone else was busy, so to get it done and get it done quickly Sam decided to do it himself. At least that way it would get done quickly. He grabbed as many bags as he could carry and made his way out back to the dumpster.
Over the stench of rotten food and stale beer, he could smell her. A happy smile crossed his lips as he looked around to see where she was. She had to be close by and not inside the bar.
His eyebrow raised quickly as he saw her sitting cross legged on the roof of her car. It was a strange sight to see, even for Bon Temps standards. He debated about wether he should make his presence known or not.
"Hey Brandy" he couldn't help himself, he felt compelled to be near her. Even just to say hi.

"Hey Brandy"
Brandy almost didn't hear him, she was focused on the last tarot card in her hand - the hanged man. She had a distraught look on her face but had heard Sam's voice at the last moment.
He was a breath of fresh air, it took a lot to resist the urge to jump down from the car and run into his arms. She knew she promised him the other day that she would wait for him, but she wondered just how long she could wait before it drove her bat-$hit crazy.
"Your just the person I wanted to see. I didn't know you were open yet, so I parked around back"
With that thought she had gathered up her cards and dropped down nimbly from the car. Quickly she put her cards in the glove compartment and pulled out her bag which had her dress in it.
"Um... well uh.. I wanted to tell you uh.."
Why was she having trouble telling him? Instead of spilling it out she ended up taking the dress out of the bag and holding it up for him to see.
".. what do you think of this dress?"

"Your just the person I wanted to see. I didn't know you were open yet, so I parked around back" BB's words made Sam's heart melt. What was it about this girl? What was it that made her so interesting to him? It was more than her obvious beauty.
She leaped down off the car and stuffed something into the glove compartment. Sam didn't catch what it was, none of his concern really. She started to fidget and talk nervously before taking an eye catching red dress out of a bag. Sam's eyes widened as he looked it over. Now it was his turn to feel nervous.
"It's uh" he shuffled his brown cowboy boots into the ground and put his left hand into his back pocket. "It's real pretty. You goin' somewhere nice?" he asked her, she seemed to want his approval for something. A date? His heart sank at the idea. But he had no reason to get upset, he didn't move fast enough.

"It's uh"
Oh. Well, that was interesting. He was.. nervous? The way he shuffled his boots into the ground and slipped his hand ever-so-casually into his back pocket were usually tell-tale signs.
Come to think of it, she was really nervous too. She was kicking slightly at the dirt underneath her sandals as if she was about to make the worst confession ever.
"It's real pretty. You goin' somewhere nice?"
"Yeah..a girl's night out. With Summer"
Struggling she put the dress as neat as she could back into the bag and then she placed it in the car. Once the door was closed she crossed her arms and leaned against the car.
"I.. felt like I should tell you I will probably be gone all night. It isn't till the day after tomorrow but, I didn't want you to worry about me. I would ask you to come, but it's kinda a girl thing and I didn't really think the kind of club we are going to be going to would really be your kinda scene anyway"
Yeah, she was rambling as she so often did. But it was alright, she had told him what she needed to and so she pushed herself away from the car and closed the distance between them.
It was then she reached for his free hand - she would of reached for both but one was in his pocket, and grabbed onto it gently. With a simple gesture she stroked the bottom of her thumb against the top of his hand and have him the warmest of smiles.
"You know.. Sam.. I really did mean it when I said I would wait for you. I.. just wanted you to know that. It's kinda hard to ignore when you start falling for someone"
She let go of his hand, and stepped past him.
"I guess I'll see you inside?"

"Yeah..a girl's night out. With Summer" Brandy said to Sam's surprise and relief. Though he was mulling over potential awkwardness. Did Brandy know that Summer had made a move on him? Not that he was that interested in her, but still he didn't know Summer or what she was capable of. She was a Were and they were always the most tempered of the Shifter community. He said nothing about Summer and continued to listen to Brandy.
BB went on to say she felt like somehow Sam should know what she was doing. He wasn't sure why, yes she was interested and Sam's interest in her was growing exponentially. But she was still single and she could do as she pleased. Then she got closer and took Sam's free hand and the way it made him feel took him by surprise and his face mirrored this, though not in an unpleasant manner.
"You know.. Sam.. I really did mean it when I said I would wait for you. I.. just wanted you to know that. It's kinda hard to ignore when you start falling for someone" Falling for someone? Sam was even more confused. They'd only just met and she felt this strongly? Strangest thing of all was it didn't make Sam pull away. He felt a little taken aback by the suddeness of it all, but he was seriously flattered by her attention. When she let go of hs hand, he felt a slight twinge of disapointment.
"I guess I'll see you inside?" she asked as she made her way towards the front of the bar. "Absolutely." was all Sam could manage, if he kept his mouth open to speak, he'd make a total fool of himself. As she walked on he felt now compelled to tell her about Summer. But later, when he could get her on her own.

"Absolutely."
Oh. She had stopped walking suddenly, a lump in her throat as she turned around to face him before he had a chance to follow back to the bar.
"I did it again. When I said I falling for you I meant..."
There she went and did it again. Opening her mouth without thinking, words coming out of her mouth as she thought them. She hadn't even realized she had said that until she was walking away. Couldn't she be just like a normal girl? Not so.. forth coming... ?
"That I like you and you didn't have to worry about me picking someone up at the club. It just came out wrong."
Instinctively she wrapped her arms around her slender body, her eyes drifting back to her car and thinking about the red dress that rested in the back seat.
"I am finding it hard to be like other girls. Not so forth coming, or flirtatious. It is probably getting annoying."

Brandy turned back and walked back towards Sam. She looked a little embarassed. "I did it again. When I said I falling for you I meant..." she flustered her words. "That I like you and you didn't have to worry about me picking someone up at the club. It just came out wrong." Sam arched an eyebrow at her frankness but stayed quiet, letting her get it off her chest. "I am finding it hard to be like other girls. Not so forth coming, or flirtatious. It is probably getting annoying."
Sam moved a little closer to BB and felt bad as she wrapped herself up in her own arms. It was a classic defense mechanism. He laughed and gave her a warm comforting smile. "It's actually not annoying." Sam confessed. "It's actually really refreshing. Sure you say somethings that make me rock back in my heels. But don't go changing who you are, not for nobody."

"It's actually not annoying."
As he said that, she found it hard to keep her arms wrapped around her waist. But there were other emotions suddenly flowing through her..
"It's actually really refreshing. Sure you say somethings that make me rock back in my heels. But don't go changing who you are, not for nobody."
She looked at him, straight into his blue eyes, and she stepped closer to him. Her arms relaxed at their sides but then for some reason, she had slipped her hands into her cover-all's.
"But Sam.. your afraid of me."
Whoa. Where did that come from? She didn't even know. She paused for a moment, and then she remembered. It had to do with that reading only moments before...
"You are, aren't you? Why? Why are you afraid of me and not anyone else? I mean, its obvious you don't want just a quick romp in the sack not that I am complaining, but it is like... It is like you want to push further but you can't seem to push yourself at all. Is it a trust thing?"

"But Sam.. your afraid of me." her words hit him hard. He had to question himself. Was he afraid of her? "You are, aren't you? Why? Why are you afraid of me and not anyone else? I mean, its obvious you don't want just a quick romp in the sack not that I am complaining, but it is like... It is like you want to push further but you can't seem to push yourself at all. Is it a trust thing?"
Sam hated to admit it, but she had hit the nail right on the head. It was a matter of trust. Not of her as a person, but of finding someone to open up to fully. Trust them to not reject him as the freak of nature he felt he was at times. He didn't know what to say. She'd completely stumped him and made him feel incredibly guilty at the same time.
He couldn't blame her at all though. He was holding back, but he was walking a fine line between letting his emotions overwhelm him or risk losing her and the possibility of exposing himself.
"It's not you, it's me." it was a horribly cheesy line to use, but unfortunately it's the truth. There was no other way to put it. "I just need to get my head around opening up to someone." he smiled thinly, "but if there was anyone I want to open up to. It's you."

"It's not you, it's me."
She quirked her eyebrow at that - the most famous line of all time. It was what you said when you wanted to let someone go but didn't want to hurt them because you felt guilty. However, she knew by the look in his eyes that he really meant it the way he had said it.
"I just need to get my head around opening up to someone. But if there was anyone I want to open up to. It's you."
Her heart sank a little, but it wasn't a bad kind of sinking. Swelled might of been a better word. She stood there in silence, and she looked at him completely. God's alive.. did he know how positively delicious he was?
Oh, if only she could give in to her carnal urges and push him onto the hood of her car.. crawl on top of him, straddle his lean body in between her thighs...
..ravish him with her soft lips and show him how a real woman could make him feel...
Her face was flushing pink, and her chest was getting redder by the moment. She had to shut her eyes and shake away the thoughts. She was becoming aroused, and she couldn't be while she was due to sit in the bar and have a nice lunch.
"I'm glad"
She didn't even know she stammered that out in a hushed whisper. Quickly she cleared her throat and decided to try again.
"I mean, I'm happy Sam. I was worried you were going to say something like it was too fast for you again. And then I was going to go on about how time is short and doesn't wait for anyone anyway, so it's pointless to keep on holding yourself back when you know in your heart something is just right"

They both stood in silence for a moment. Sam taking a mental note of a change within Brandy. Her cheeks flushed and her heart was racing she almost seemed...Sam almost flushed himself when it dawned on him what was going on.
"I'm glad" Brandy said, breaking the silence. Coughing slightly.
Sam smiled, trying to take his mind off what he thought just happened. His trailer was so close. He chastised himself for the thought. He wasn't going to ruin a good thing by giving in to lust. She was special and he wanted to wait till it felt right. He almost didn't hear the next thing Brandy said. Only catching the last few sentences. "...so it's pointless to keep on holding yourself back when you know in your heart something is just right"
"You're right." Sam replied, and gazed down at his cowboy boots. "I just need time, I'm sorry." he fought the urge to tell her everything. But telling someone that you're not exactly human, isn't something you just throw into a random conversation. He made a promise to himself that if things went well, he would confide his secret in her.

"You're right. I just need time, I'm sorry."
"Huh?"
It was like he only heard half of what she said afterward. Did he know what she was thinking? No, he couldn't possibly - nobody could read minds, at least from what she knew of.
"Oh, no, I wasn't talking about us. I was just generalizing. People tend to get so worked up over time. When really, there is so little of it you might as well just live."
By now, she would of been telling him what exactly had got her worked up but for once, she managed to restrain herself. And then she realized, that her 'theory' was kind of mute.. considering the recent outing of immortal vampires.
"You going to be working late tonight? I think tonight I will probably just rent a couple of movies and snuggle up on the couch. The duplex has already kind of.. grown on me. Plus, now that the couch kinda smells like you I think I might sleep on that tonight"
She paused, and looked at him with a coy smile on her face.
"... naked"
Well hell, she just couldn't resist!

"Oh, no, I wasn't talking about us. I was just generalizing. People tend to get so worked up over time. When really, there is so little of it you might as well just live." Sam blushed a little, embarassed for not paying full attention to what Brandy was saying.
"You going to be working late tonight? I think tonight I will probably just rent a couple of movies and snuggle up on the couch. The duplex has already kind of.. grown on me. Plus, now that the couch kinda smells like you I think I might sleep on that tonight"
Sam began to talk, he felt hopeful. Was she actually asking him out? Or was she just making friendly conversation. She wasn't finished what she was saying. "naked". His mouth fell open, she was teasing him surely.
"Oh..." he began, stammering his words, unable to get anything out other than some confused sounds. He threw her a sidelong look, his lips almost in a smile. "You're just messing with me now...right?" he added with a questioning tone.

"Oh..."
Brandy still held the sly smile, not saying a word- but his reaction was adorable.
"You're just messing with me now...right?"
She contemplated on how to answer that, one slender digit coming to her lip as she glanced upward as if really deep in thought.
"No. No, not at all really. I really do intend on lying naked on the couch. I'm just saying your smell is there, that's all, so if the thought of you lying under me crosses my mind I can't really be blamed now can I?"
Another coy smile, only this time she had crossed her arms and let a chunk of hair fall in front of her eyes. She was into this now, so she might as well keep going with what was on her mind.
"And I would invite you to join me, but your willpower is stronger than mine. Just saying that I will be in my place.. alone.. all night.. possibly with no clothes on, that's all"
She gave a shrug, then remembered the envelope she had in her back pocket. She still didn't know what was up with that. She wanted to wait until she was inside and had something in her stomach before she took it out to read it.
"But I know how you are, so mostly I'm just teasing you now. Seriously though, are you working late tonight?"
