"I am a Maenad, a servant of Dionysus. Oh...and I'm also immortal."
Sam curled his lip in distaste. She was messing with him, obviously. He didn't even know what a Maenad was. Dionysus was easy, but his knowledge of Greek myth and legend was seriously limited.
"What are you talking about?" Sam asked, but his voice was drowned out by the roaring of a blood red convertible sports car. Eggs, Tara's new boyfriend got out of the car. Rushed over to Maryann all grins and black eyes. What the f**k was it with the black eyes?
It's done...
Sam's heart raced even faster. His bad feeling about what Brandy had gotten into was increasing by the second. He had to get out of here somewhere. He'd shift and run, but with Arlene and Terry there he couldn't risk exposing himself.
"Oh, well. It's time for us to go now. I'll be seeing you real soon Sam Merlotte. You can't escape me."
Sam drew her a steely glare, he had to cover up his increasing fear and worry. Not only for Brandy, but for himself. He didn't like the sound of what Maryann had in store for him.
Maryann and her cohorts piled into the car and just as they were about to speed off into the distance Terry Bellefleur said something that chilled Sam to the bone and filled him with nausea.
"We're so sorry for your loss."
No sooner were they out of sight, than Sam had jumped into his truck. He sped off down the dirt road. Both windows were rolled down just incase he could catch her scent on the wind. He had to get to her, he had to know she was alright. Driving more recklessly than normal, Sam caught a faint trace of Brandy's scent and screeched the truck to a sudden stop and got out.
Racing through the woods, he followed his shifter senses and it wasn't long till he found her. The sight he saw filled him with fear, dread and anger.
Brandy was slumped against a tree, badly wounded. Watching over her was a Vampire, he had a sudden realisation that he knew this Vampire from before. He caused a lot of trouble in the bar one night and was never seen again. Now here he was, tending to Brandy.
"What the f**k is going on?" Sam yelled out, the tension too much for him to handle. "What the f**k are you doing to her?"

The vampire grimaced slightly as she began to drink from his self inflicted wound. He rarely gave his blood out to anyone, but this woman was different, she was in the Queen's employment and that meant a lot to a vampire like Jack. Surprisingly she didn't drink him dry, Jack had seen other vampires give their blood to others and have to slap them away because they got greedy. Brandy wasn't, she seemed to have self control, not that Jack really cared of course. Life, death, it was all the same to him. The only reason he continued to live was to serve his mistress.
She thanked him, in an odd human way. Jack just nodded and grinned. "Well I hear my blood would fetch a handsome price on the black market, but consider this a freebie." He said as the wound healed over as if nothing happened. "You are a servant of the Queen, that is the only reason I did not finish you off, that and your blood would have tasted foul."
She appeared to be healing nicely from the effects of Jack's blood. His blood, being over a thousand years old, would have some very beneficial healing properties. But there was the other matter at hand. Jack could feel her. He was not touching her, but he could certainly feel her emotions and being within him. He rarely ever experienced such a feeling, the closest he could get to this being the bond between sire and maker. It was interesting to Jack to experience this first hand.
Then the air changed dramatically. The scent of a shifter filled the air and Jack turned his head to see Sam standing before him, anger clear in his body language and voice. Something struck him from the way Same carried himself, then he remembered the airport, Sam was there. The vampire simply grinned as he came to the realisation that Brandy and Sam were a couple. The situation was beautiful, Jack now had an influence over this shifter's partner and now he could cause him pain like nothing else.
"That's no way to speak to someone who just saved your woman's life." Jack replied, rising to his feet.

There was one thing to be said about having a vampire's blood coursing through your veins and having that very vampire still lingering beside you. She couldn't stop herself from looking at him, and the more she seemed to look at him the more she seemed to want him. Her heart was racing, forgetting the bruises and the aches and pains that still lingered and it made the notion of getting up just some sort of unnecessary action.
"Well I hear my blood would fetch a handsome price on the black market, but consider this a freebie."
".. your voice is dreamy..."
Brandy had seemed to.. zone out at that moment. Her body slightly swaying as her eyes softened and she realized she was seeing 'Vampire Jack' in a whole new light. The curve of his nose, his enticing dark eyes, the unique black stubble on his chin...
"You are a servant of the Queen, that is the only reason I did not finish you off, that and your blood would have tasted foul."
"... i can be your servant.."
"What the f**k is going on?"
Sam's urgent, demanding voice had seemed to snap Brandy out of her 'trance'. She looked like a deer caught in headlights as she took in a deep breath and found herself looking toward Sam.
Sam!! He had made it for her! Her heart began to race and she wanted to reach out for him.. but there were other things that were more evident on Sam's mind.
"What the f**k are you doing to her?"
Oh. Oh! D@mn. Brandy realized what it looked like, but before she could open up her lips to protest Jack had answered for her.
"That's no way to speak to someone who just saved your woman's life."
Jack's voice caught Brandy's attention again, and right back in the school-girl daze she had gone. She was looking at Jack in admiration, as if he was a god among men - and then she just had a sudden urge to want to - -
"Ah f*ck."
Brandy's outburst probably would catch the attention of both men as she found herself forcing herself to stare at the ground. She was a mess, all bruised up and battered - but she was alive. If this continued on by the end of the night it was about to get very messy. It was very hard to control her emotions at that moment.
"My ribs ache, I have bruises and cuts all over my body and Jack saved my life. Without him, you would be burying my body instead of coming to collect it. But we should go. And we can't go home because Maryann will be looking for us there. But if we stay here any longer, I'm going to end up dry humping Jack's leg and I would rather not suffer that embarrassment right now."
Well, at least one could appreciate Brandy's need to always be blatantly honest - even in the most unlikely of situations.

Sam felt like he'd just been punched in the chest. Brandy was just cooing over this undead psychopath. It made him feel insignificant. Like he wasn't quite man enough for her anymore.
"That's no way to speak to someone who just saved your woman's life."
The Vampire seethed at him, standing up to his full height. This didn't help Sam's feelings of adequacy whatsoever. He was pretty sure that if this bloodsucker wanted Brandy, all he had to do was snap his fingers and Sam would be kicked to the kerb like a mangy dog. Oh the twisted irony of that.
"Ah f*ck."
Sam's attention was drawn back to Brandy. Her loud outburst making him forget his insecurities for a moment.
Another one of Brandy's trademark rambles. When she mentioned her own mortality, Sam's head lowered. Ashamed he'd let his own pride come before the welfare of the woman loved. All he wanted to do was scoop her up in his arms and tell her. Take her away from Bon Temps altogether, keep her safe from more danger. He loved her too d**n much to see her hurt again. It was hard enough seeing her like this. Knowing what had happened and the fallout from that incident.
The glib remark about humping Jack's leg, brought him back to earth with a solid bump. "Where do you suggest we go?" the question was open to both Brandy and Jack. "My truck's parked just at the roadside. I can take us anywhere we need to go.

The witch seemed infatuated with Jack almost instantly. The vampire couldn't help but grin at the sound of her lust filled voice, especially in front of the shifter. It must have cause him so much discomfort knowing that she was forever going to be thinking of, dreaming of and lusting after Jack.
Now of course the shifter wanted to move away from the area that had been tainted by Jack's actions. Of course the vampire didn't care about where they went, the situation would be the same, Brandy and Jack were connected and Jack would know where she was and how she felt at any time. Sam could only wish to have such power.
"Go?" He said with a dark chuckle. "This is your problem not mine. I shall leave you two alone, I'm sure you have much to discuss without me causing a ... distraction?" He began walking away slowly, back to the road.

"Where do you suggest we go?"
Sam had addressed both Jack and Brandy but Brandy didn't speak right away. She was struggling to get up to her feet, bracing one slender hand against the trunk of the tree as she tried to stable herself. What a mess she was, she could only imagine what she looked like. Even her clothes were torn, ripped, and stained with her own blood. So much for the 'blue jeans and pink dress shirt' she had bought on sale a week before.
"Go? This is your problem not mine. I shall leave you two alone, I'm sure you have much to discuss without me causing a ... distraction?"
Had she been so inclined she might of given Jack the finger when he walked away. But she didn't, she couldn't - not when she owed the vampire her life. Sure, he did it because of the queen, but Brandy knew that one day it would be a good thing that she was in servitude of the beautiful woman. That day had proven to be today.
".. a motel. Just.. anywhere. I need a bath. I'm a terrible mess"
At the word 'mess' Brandy had stumbled and almost bit her lip in the process. She certainly had seen better days.

Jack scoffed at Sam's question, almost amused at the scenario that had unfolded this night. "Go? This is your problem not mine. I shall leave you two alone, I'm sure you have much to discuss without me causing a ... distraction?"
Before Sam had a chance to say 'f**k you very much.', the Vampire vanished into the night. Sam just glared off into the direction of the undead man.
".. a motel. Just.. anywhere. I need a bath. I'm a terrible mess"
Sam's eyes softened as he looked over at Brandy. She had seen better days. But that was an obvious observation. He wanted to protect her so fiercely and he'd failed her. Failed her in the most fatal way possible, nothing he could say could ever make up for not being there for her when she needed him the most.
Sam nodded sadly. "Come on." he put his hand out for hers. "The sooner we go the better." Sam fought back the tears, for Brandy's sake. That and he felt if he began, they would never end.

"Come on."
When his hand reached out for her's, she took a hold of it without a second thought. She used his body as support entirely, visibly wincing as she took a step toward him.
She could of took more blood, she probably should of took more blood - but that just wasn't her way. All she knew was that somehow, the feeling of pain was letting her know she was alive, rather than dead in the ground.
It was almost a welcomed feeling.
"The sooner we go the better."
Brandy nodded slowly, her eyes cast to the ground as if she was almost ashamed to look at him. Her body weight was almost completely against him, it was too much of an effort to try and walk alone. When they got to the truck and he opened the door for her, she had used him again to climb up into the truck. When he shut the door, she found even putting on the seat belt was a struggle.
And then she coughed. And it felt like her insides were being torn apart. That forced her to mutter a cry of pain as she brought her hand to her mouth and wiped away the remaining speckles of blood that splattered her hand.
"Stupid @sshole covered my mouth and tied my hands, I didn't even have time to say a spell. What good is being a witch if I can't even save myself from a brutal beating? I blame myself for being so stupid"
She was focused outside now, seeing her reflection against the window had forced her to look away. She looked like a friggin' paint-by-numbers that had gone terribly wrong.
"well... I guess it's a good thing I still have my winning personality - my looks certainly haven't favored that well."

Sam let Brandy lean on him as much as she needed. It was the least he could do under the circumstances. He felt like the worst boyfriend ever. She coughed and then cried out in pain, Sam could only watch in helplessness as his lover was stricken with agony.
"Stupid @sshole covered my mouth and tied my hands, I didn't even have time to say a spell. What good is being a witch if I can't even save myself from a brutal beating? I blame myself for being so stupid"
Sam felt his other hand ball into a tight fist. He could tear Eggs apart, limb from limb for what he did to Brandy. But first, he had to get her to safety and to let her rest some more. He just wanted to protect her properly.
"well... I guess it's a good thing I still have my winning personality - my looks certainly haven't favored that well."
Sam wasn't able to laugh at her attempt at lightening the mood. His thoughts were too dark, too vengeful. He sat himself in the drivers seat and gave her a look of absolute guilt.
"Take it easy."

"Take it easy."
Brandy had to chuckle slightly at that. He was telling her to take it easy and she really didn't have any choice. Inside she was wreck - emotionally and physically. She didn't know what was going to happen in the coming days ahead - all she knew was that they had to get away. They were both...
".. we're alone Sam.. how are we going to defeat her? I don't, I don't know what to do anymore. We are running out of options and the only thing that seems to be any sort of solution is to run.."
To run and leave everyone behind. It wasn't like Brandy hadn't done that before. She knew how to run - she ran from Derek and that was why she ended up here.
"Who is left to turn too? Honestly? Who has any type of power against whatever the hell Maryann is? I almost died back there Sam and all I could think of was how I never got to say good bye. I don't want to lose you. I refuse to let that happen, you don't know.. how much... "
Fighting back the tears was hard. It must of been the approaching motel that had distracted her because now she was pointing toward it.
"There. At least, buy us some time to figure out what the hell we are going to do next."
In Brandy's mind, there weren't any other options left.

Soon they were driving down the road, looking for somewhere they could escape too, even if only for a little while.
".. we're alone Sam.. how are we going to defeat her? I don't, I don't know what to do anymore. We are running out of options and the only thing that seems to be any sort of solution is to run.."
Sam looked dumbfounded. He really didn't know what to do. He didn't even really know what she was. He knew what she claimed to be, but he knew nothing of that.
"I....I don't know babe." his eyes looking at her softly for a moment before focussing back on the road. The last thing they needed was a crash.
"Who is left to turn too? Honestly? Who has any type of power against whatever the hell Maryann is? I almost died back there Sam and all I could think of was how I never got to say good bye. I don't want to lose you. I refuse to let that happen, you don't know.. how much... "
Brandy's voice was cracking under the pressure. And who really could blame her? She had been through so much in so short a time, Sam couldn't even begin to empathise with her. Only worry about her. He reached out his hand to her, using the free hand to guide the steering wheel.
"There. At least, buy us some time to figure out what the hell we are going to do next."
Sam pulled his hand away to concentrate on driving his truck into the parking lot of the motel. It was dingy and crappy looking, but it would do. Sam got out and over to the passenger side to help Brandy out.

Dingy or not, it would serve its purpose. With Sam's assistance Brandy was able to get out of the truck, and as they walked toward the office Brandy had decided on waiting outside. No need to answer questions from a nosey landlord. It was only minutes before Sam was out again, guiding the both of them to an empty motel room.
When the door opened the musky smell didn't seem to bother Brandy at all. But still, it wasn't what she was used to, so she immediately went to the window and she cracked it open to let in some much needed fresh air. With that done she turned toward Sam and looked toward the bathroom.
"I didn't even think... I have nothing to change into. Maybe.. maybe you can call Summer and ask her to stop by the duplex? Maybe Kaelyn is home?"
It was either that, or they wash her clothes in the bath tub and hang them up on the shower rod to dry. Brandy kind of hoped she could just burn all the clothes and forget about the whole night.
Making her way toward the bath room she lightly closed the door behind her, figuring that Sam would jump on the phone right away. She bent over slowly, running the bath water as she inched out of her clothes and placed them in the corner. What a mess.
More so her than the clothes. When she was naked you could really see the bruises, the faded shades of skin, the nicks and the half-healed scratches - and so much dried blood that she was going to make the bath water look like cherry kool-aid.

"I didn't even think... I have nothing to change into. Maybe.. maybe you can call Summer and ask her to stop by the duplex? Maybe Kaelyn is home?"
Brandy was needing to clean up, wash the blood off and generally just chill out. Sam would watch over her, make sure she would get anything she needed. When she asked for the call, Sam nodded.
"I'll call her. You just relax in there and I'm just out here if you need me. Just call out to me."
Sam let her go bathe. She needed a little alone time he reckoned. So he took Brandy's phone and dialled out Summer's number. It rang out and onto her voicemail.
"Hey, Summer. It's Sam. As soon as you get this message, could you go to the duplex and pick up some clothes for Brandy. If you have to break in, do it." Sam gave out the address to the motel he and Brandy were at and hoped to God that Summer would check her mail soon and that she would get her fast.
Sam knocked lightly on the bathroom door, so as not to startle Brandy. He was tapping her phone in his hand. He could barely look at her, more guilt consumed him. "I....I'm so sorry. I should have been there with you....I" he held back the rest. He didn't need to be breaking down in front of her.

Brandy eased slowly into the warm bath water, a sigh musing past her full lips as the wrapped up bar soap by the taps seemed like miles away. The moment she had the water flow over her, she could see the dirt and the blood kind of hover in the water. She would have to be scrubbed but she didn't have the energy to do it.
That was when she heard the light tapping at the door.
"I....I'm so sorry. I should have been there with you....I"
And that was it. She was crying. The tears started to flow down her dirt and blood-covered cheeks and she couldn't stop them.
She had managed to hold them in when she first had Jack's blood in her mouth, when she first saw Sam, and during the trip that brought them to this motel. Now they just wouldn't stop and she brought her hands to her face to try and stop them from flowing.
They just wouldn't stop.

Brandy lay in the tub, the water looked ghastly. A mixture of water, dirt and blood. As soon as he spoke to her, it all came out. Floods of tears. Sam's heart broke and he was soon on his knees on the floor next to the bath. He put his hand on her head, smoothing it over her hair. He couldn't speak, but the tears fell down his face silently.
He gently turned her face to his. "I don't know what I'd have done if..." Sam trailed off. He lowered his head and then looked back up. "I never got a chance to tell you just how much you mean to me, and I almost lost that chance again. I can't let that happen."
"I love you...I wasn't expecting it to happen. Wasn't looking for it. But what I found in you was something so beautiful, something so right. I'd be a fool to let it go." Sam found his smile, as thin as it was. "You are my everything."
