Lafayette had finished with Brandy's order, when another Vampire walked into the bar. "d**n, this place is busy tonight!" He said then turned to Joe. "Ain't that right, Joe?" He asked. Joe was not very talkative, especially to Lafayette and only came in when he felt like it. He was supposedly the other short order cook but the job was mostly Lafayette's, seeing as how he came in everyday. "Mhm." Joe said simply then walked out again. Lafayette put Brandy's order on the counter and tapped Sam's shoulder. "Go give this to that honeycone over there." He said, pointing in Brandy's direction. Without waiting for an answer, Lafayette took another order from the spinning order holder and began to work on tonight's next order.

"Dang BB, I didn't realize that you were here for Sam. I wouldn't have flagged you down if you were taken. I'm not that kind of guy you know. As for that blonde, she was a vampire and I don't see to many of those around here..."
"Here for Sam? Oh, the bartender. You misunderstand, I don't even know him. I am not taken. Wow, that doesn't sound very right of me does it?"
This wasn't going over very well, and she gladly took the other drink that was brought to her. At least she knew who Sam was now, but she certainly didn't want to bring him into the whole mess.
"You were great Jason, you know how to make a girl feel welcome. But, if you could of seen the way you looked at the blond you would understand. You did me a great favor, but the reason I left the table was because the connection you both had was.. unmistakable."
Slap a pair of boobs on Jason and maybe a dose of estrogen he might of understood. It was a funny thought, but clearly Jason was a man's man.
"Sh*t, I don't even know what is going on here anymore. I have been out of town and apparently Bon Temps is the new vampire breeding ground."
"You noticed that too huh?"
Just as Jason was about to speak again, Brandy's caramel hues had fell on the blond vampire from earlier. She was still around after all, and Brandy couldn't help but to feel a little bad. If the girl felt such a connection to Jason, who was Brandy to get in the way?
Especially when Brandy kept looking at Sam.
"Friends? You just would like to be friends?"
Uh oh. He was going to tell her off wasn't she? Brandy's eyes widened as she prepared for the worst.
"I hate to break it to ya girl but we already are...remember. You still owe me 3 answers to 3 questions whenever you are done with your boyfriend"
And that was when it happened. Brandy stood up from her seat and suddenly wrapped her arms around him, giving him a tight hug.
"God Jason! You are such a sweetheart - you scared the hell out of me for a moment. I thought you were.. well, I thought you were going to tell me off"
She withdrew herself from him, a bright smile on her face - then realized he was still hung up on the 3 questions. He was a stubborn one - a curious, stubborn friend.
"I think I see someone that would be interested in playing 3 questions Jason, and she is sitting over there. Go ahead, it will make me really really jealous. I promise"
Hey, Brandy had a smart head on her shoulders after all. And besides, she was half way there, she at least had a name.

Jason nearly dropped his beer. No girls just hugged him and he certainly never had one thanking him for being a good friend. Shh**tt, maybe he was losing his touch. "Fxcking fellowship" he muttered under his breath.
Jason followed BB's gaze back over to the blonde vamp who had magically re appeared. "Honey, I will go talk to her but not for her and definitely not for me...I don't know if I am into vampires like that...but because I would love to see you jealous." Jason winked at her and grabbed his beer standing up. Before he left her side he bent over and whispered in her ear. "If you need me I will be over there, try not to stir up too much trouble you hear?"
Jason proceeded to walk over to the blonde vamp and posted the traditional grin on his face. "Hey there miss, you look like you could use some company." Jason hoped he wouldn't get bitten before a first date...

Cristina looked up and she the man she had been looking at the whole time. "have a seat."Cristina pointed to the seat next to her. She couldn't beleive he was talking to her. "I'm Cristina."She said softly as she held out her hand for him to shake or something. She wonder why he wasn't with the human girl. But she didn't even ask. she knew better then to ask something like that. She tried not to look at him to long. She just set there waiting to see what he would say next to her.

Jason couldn't remember the last time he felt so uncomfortable. Not only was everyone at the bar thinking he was probably the biggest scum on earth but now here he was with some vampire he just met.
"Get a grip Jay, you are evolving..." he thought to himself.
"Cristina huh, that sure is a pretty name...normal too considering." He took a drink from his beer and wished that Sookie was here. She always helped calm his mind because she was familiar and made him feel more like his self.
"What brings you to Bon Temps?"

"I was brought here. Not by choice. But after a few days I started to like it here."She said looking at the ground. She was a little scared that she might bite him. But she didn't want to bite him. She was started to like him. "I never got your name."She said looking over to him.

Sam felt a tapping on his shoulder, he turned his head round to see Lafayette pointing to a plate on the kitchen counter. Go give this to that honeycone over there. then pointed over to the girl Jason foolishly let slip through his fingers in the most unsubtle of gestures. Now he had to figure out what to do. Did he just hand her over her food and let it go. Or would he take a chance, risk his heart once again. He looked at the plate and decided to see what happened once he got there.
Blowing out a small sigh, Sam was suddenly nervous, it'd been a long time since he did anything like this. He'd spent so long pining after Sookie that any other available women wouldn't get so much as a look in. He was determined that was about to change, no more dismissing other opportunities for someone who would never love him the way he envisioned.
"Time to move on Sam" he said to himself in a low murmur as he took the girl's order over to her and placed it gently in front of her. He smiled at her and his blue eyes twinkled, "Here's your order, sorry for the wait." Not the best opening, but it was an honest one.

" "Honey, I will go talk to her but not for her and definitely not for me...I don't know if I am into vampires like that...but because I would love to see you jealous."
Brandy smiled warmly, shaking her head slightly (but in a good way). What an.. interesting fellow Jason was - but Brandy liked the three dimensional ones with a personality better anyway.
"If you need me I will be over there, try not to stir up too much trouble you hear?
"Oh, I am sure I will be fine. Who knows, you might be the one stirring up the trouble. So I will just be right over here"
And away he went, toward the vampire to strike up conversation. Meanwhile, Brandy's eyes lit up when she saw Sam coming toward her with a plate of a food. And did it ever look delicious! She couldn't help but to lean over just enough to wave her thanks to Lafayette - the cook she could just barely see in the kitchen.
"Here's your order, sorry for the wait."
"So your Sam. I'm Brandy"
Well, that slipped out. So far, everyone one she had met in Bon Temps she had introduced herself as BB. She wanted, well, for some reason she felt the need to - make conversation, before she left that night without working up the nerve too.
"I've been wanting to strike up conversation with you ever since I saw you. I don't know why, and who am I to question it, but, would you like to have something to eat with me? You see, Jason is over there trying to make me jealous, and all I have been thinking about this entire time is meeting you. Well, meeting you - and finally getting to eat. I'm starving."
Eagerly she was already already picking up an onion ring, a blush she was trying to hide would not go away. Usually she wasn't quite so bold, but she didn't want to go home that night scolding herself for not making any move.

"So your Sam. I'm Brandy" she said with a cheerful voice and a warm smile. This girl was really open and friendly, Sam was so used to lies and secrets he wasn't really sure how to approach this. So he decided to take the pragmatic route. "Yes ma'am" he smiled back at her with equal friendliness "Sam Merlotte"
Without so much as a breath she was chatting away like they were old friends. Making it clear that she was interested. Not in the way Summer did, Brandy had more subtletly than that. He had to be honest with himself, she intrigued him and she was even more gorgeous close up. He had to keep his cool though.
He recontemplated her offer of sitting down to eat with her. It was quite busy, but nothing his employees couldn't handle. If an emergency cropped up he'd be within reach. "You know what" he began, a real genuine smile on his face, "I think I would like that" he casually sat next to her "I'm about due a break anyway"

"Sam Merlotte"
"Merlotte? As in the bar owner Merlotte? Oh, how terribly rude of me, I didn't know - and your terribly busy"
She was about to suggest she come back closer to closing time, but he ended up sitting down anyway. Just having him closer to her made her heart beat faster, was it natural to have such chemistry with someone? She had to be careful, she didn't want to turn into a stalker or scare him away - even just knowing someone you are instantly attracted to would.....
"... I am not going to make some girlfriend or wife terribly jealous by sitting this close to you am I?"
Generally, as a rule, Brandy avoided confrontation as much as possible. She knew making an enemy or two was inevitable but it didn't mean you should go asking for them.
"And if I am, I am going to have to tell you before I get my eyes scratched out... that you have to be the most handsome guy in this place. But it isn't only that, you have this most interesting .. way about you. I think I will just stop before I start creeping you out."
Which, you know, she probably already had.

Sam felt momentary embarassment as Brandy realised just who he was. "Yeah, that's me" he said with a modest tone. He waved his hand up, "No no it's fine. They know where to find me" he gave her a reassuring smile. They were now sitting close enough that Sam could now stealthily take in her scent. Other than smelling out of this world good, she had a slight difference in her to normal humans. She wasn't another shifter or a Were. She certainly was no Vampire. He was stumped but he had his secrets, it was only right that she had hers.
"... I am not going to make some girlfriend or wife terribly jealous by sitting this close to you am I?" Sam started to smile, then a little chuckle started and even though she kept on talking, he wasn't able to stop her or himself. When she stopped he eased up on the light laughter. Sam was lonely, real lonely. But it would take another Shifter or someone real open minded and special to take him on. "No, I am painfully single." he smiled, he was now unusually throwing caution to the wind, "and no, you are not creeping me out."

"No, I am painfully single."
That was a sigh of relief, though she could of figured it out from his reaction - his laughter to her was cute, and now she was forced to wear a perma-grin on her face while she continued the conversation.
"Well then, lucky me. I don't have to worry about waking up tomorrow morning with a black eye or something. Girl's are vicious"
Now that they started talking, Brandy found herself becoming more comfortable around him. More comfortable, still with butterflies, but her blush had returned her cheeks to normal and she was (slowly) making her way through the onion rings.
"and no, you are not creeping me out."
"Really? That is a good thing. So, tell me a bit about yourself Sam. Because, these butterflies are not going to go away any time soon."

"No I'm not exactly beating them off with a stick" Sam said with a hint of sadness before becoming painfully aware of his tone. He thought of ways to end the awkwardness, but it wasn't forthcoming. sh*t Sam what are you thinkin'? he cursed himself inside his own head.
So, tell me a bit about yourself Sam those were words he was secretly dreading. He was a private person, at least most of his life and past were and generally liked to keep it that way. He wanted to just tell her everything. The secrets, the lies and the fear of truly trusting a person. Sookie was the only person in his life that knew his secret, that was by pure accident and there relationship was strained for a good long time after that.
He really did want to trust her. But for now he had to just take things slowly. "Not much to tell, moved here from Texas 'bout 6 years ago and set up shop in Bon Temps. Been here ever since." he felt guilty about the next words out of his mouth, but he had to find a deflection. "What about you? What brings you to this corner of the South?"

"No I'm not exactly beating them off with a stick"
Brandy recognized the sorrowful tone in his voice, this was why she reached out her hand (the one that was not onion-ring scented) and placed it on his knee reassuringly.
"They don't know what they are missing. You can beat me with a stick anytime"
Wow! Those words came out of her mouth without so much of a second thought. She stared blankly for a moment, and then chuckled nervously as she took her hand away from his knee.
But she wanted to touch him. Again. This was why she nervously sat on her hand, it was probably too bold an action to begin with - and she was already talking about a stick! And him beating her with it - she felt sheepish because in her mind it was a sexual reference, and not a "domestic violence" one.
"Well, uh, you know what I mean'
Open mouth, insert foot.
She wanted to know more about him. Not only because it was traditional when you first met someone you were mildly interested in, but because.. well, she liked him instantly.
"Not much to tell, moved here from Texas 'bout 6 years ago and set up shop in Bon Temps. Been here ever since."
It was about what she expected, she wasn't the kind of person to prod information out of people - anything he trusted enough to tell her, he would in his own time. She just hoped she had a lot with him, time that is...
It was one of those moments where you knew you had a slight chance at something good, and if you passed it up you would probably regret it.
"What about you? What brings you to this corner of the South?"
"My car"
She was grinning again, wondering if he would catch on.
"Well, I am kind of.. a loner right now. I left home because of different.. beliefs. Bon Temps seemed like the place to be, to avoid sounding completely crazy I'm a witch who felt drawn to this place. But please don't freak out, I'm harmless - I promise. Hell, I even sleep in my car so I can't really do much damage from there can I?"
Normally Brandy wouldn't of dove into the subject right away, but she knew that if she wanted to get to Sam better it probably would of been best to tell him such a thing right away. It would be unfortunate if he decided he was against it, but at least she did get the chance to know him.

Sam looked down at her hand as it touched him gently on his knee. It was friendly, yet more than that. He couldn't lie to himself, it felt good to be wanted. He'd spent the biggest part of his time in Bon Temps admiring Sookie from a distance. They had shared a few moments but nothing more and with Bill in the picture there would never be a chance for them. He was more or less over it, he'd always love Sookie. Always care for her in ways that wouldn't ever fade. But maybe this girl, Brandy was a sign. Some kind of portent to let it all go.
"They don't know what they are missing. You can beat me with a stick anytime" she seemed to blurt it out without thinking. "Well, uh, you know what I mean' he looked a little stunned, but he felt she never meant any harm with it and passed it off as nervousness.
The talk about his past made him uncomfortable, so he was relieved when she was happy to talk about herself and her reason for being in Bon Temps. Then Brandy said something about herself that made a few things click into place. Especially the feeling of something different about her. He let her finish off what she was saying and smiled in wonder. "A Witch huh?" he repeated back with a rhetorical tone. "No kiddin'" he wasn't quite sure how to react after all. He knew very little about witches but she insisted she was harmless. At least she's not a Vampire Sam concluded in his mind.
"Wait a minute" he said, a frown on his face. His brow furrowed. "You're sleepin in your car?" he didn't like to hear of anyone down on there luck like that. "That's no good." he tried to mask his pity, not wanting to offend her.
