This was the first time Brandy realized how much she babbled when she was around someone. His reaction to her news of being a witch wasn't a bad one, nor a overly good one either - but it was a reaction, none the less.
"Wait a minute"
Uh oh -
"You're sleepin in your car? That's no good."
"Oh, its only a temporary thing. Well, at least I hope. I was going to look a job and probably get a hotel room or something. My car really isn't that bad, its the shower and bathroom thing that kinda sucks. Not that you need to know about that"
Brandy couldn't help but to laugh.
"And the car always smell's vanilla-ey fresh!"
Alright, so even Brandy had to admit to herself that maybe she didn't think the whole 'picking up and disappearing to Bon Temp's' thing all the way through. She paused a few moments, taking a couple of bites of the burger when she found herself almost salivating...
"Oh my lord! I don't think I have ever had such a delicious piece of meat in my mouth before! I think I just fell in love with your cook, Sam"
She always loved food, but this burger - well, it was like heaven in-between two warm buns. Well, lukewarm by now but it was impressive. She thought for a quick moment, before she looked at him with a clever smile.
"Oh, and don't worry - you had me at 'hello'"

Sam shook his head, he really did not like the fact that this young woman was roughing it in her car. Not one little bit. He was now unsure of what to do. He could offer her one of his spare rooms in his double wide, but that would only cause gossip and Sam had had his fill of being talk of the town. But he couldn't let her continue sleeping in a car, it just wasn't right. He'd ponder over her situation for a little bit, see if he could come up with a solution.
He smiled at the mention of vanilla. Saying nothing not risking looking like a dork. But it was one of his favourite scents, sweet yet sensual. He was almost distracted by the pleasant thoughts.
"Oh my lord! I don't think I have ever had such a delicious piece of meat in my mouth before! I think I just fell in love with your cook, Sam" well that brought Sam back down to earth with a bump. "Oh, and don't worry - you had me at 'hello'" he raised an eyebrow and could only smile at her flirtation.
"Uh yeah, Lafayette. He's a real attraction here. Great cook, nice guy. I think you'd like him." Sam babbled a bit, trying keep his mind on the level.

"Uh yeah, Lafayette. He's a real attraction here. Great cook, nice guy. I think you'd like him."
"Oh, come on Sam - you know the real attraction here. With all these beautiful waitresses scattered about I am almost certain the guys aren't just here for the food"
There was another realization for Brandy, she had one necessity covered - a tummy full of food and tomorrow she had plans to go look for work (she didn't want to bother Sam). She also had the shower covered for that day at least, a truck stop just on the outskirts provided truckers with shower stalls.
"I have a question, well two actually. Well, actually three. "
She pondered over <that> logic for a moment and took another bite of her burger. She couldn't believe she was almost done the whole thing!
"mmmm. Oh, right - anyway. Would you be terribly offended if I parked in your lot over night? I do plan on getting a hotel room tomorrow because this sleeping in my car is just silly. I have the bootie', so I've made up my mind to get work tomorrow"
Brandy reached for the last onion ring, pondering how to ask her next question..
"If not, its completely alright. This place just feels safe, that's all. But uh, my next question .. can vampires get in your car without an invite? I know the house rule, but I am not quite sure about cars..."
Oh, that would be the last thing she needed. Warm and cozy in the back seat of her car and then not - so - much because of a gaping hole in her neck. Her last question, was a bit more intimating to ask and she stared at the scattered crumbs on her plate as she asked.
"And the last question.. can I take you out? I mean, I don't know when you have a day or a night off or even how your shifts work but, I'm afraid that if I don't ask you, then you won't ask me. So, I'm asking you, can I take you out sometime?"
Wow, onion ring crumbs sure were interesting. But, at least this way, if he said no - she could hide her reaction.

Brandy made a pointed note about the waitresses, she was right they were all pretty. They all had special qualities that kept the customers happy. She paused for thought and began to speak again, cautiously in between bites of Lafayette's burger.
Questions. Uh oh, Sam began to feel a little uncomfortable. Not more questions. He feared the worst. He let her get it all out into the open and thankfully nothing that would compromise himself. He mulled over her questions and blushed a little at her request to take him out on a date. What harm could it do? She was funny, smart and completely gorgeous. "We can talk about that later" he smiled wistfully, "First we need to settle your living arrangements." he gave her a really serious look. "I can't in all good conscience let you sleep in your car, even around here. It's not safe and if something happened to you..." he trailed off, he didn't want to scare her.
He tried to brighten his appearance with a small smile, "I own a few little duplexes in town. You're more than welcome, in fact no. I insist that you stay there while you're in Bon Temps." he paused for a moment realising she had no income that he knew of. "Look" he began lowering his tone to an almost whisper. "Between you and me, you can stay there rent free. At least till you find you're feet, then we can talk rates."

"We can talk about that later"
If he didn't have that smile, she might of been worried.
"First we need to settle your living arrangements.
Settle? Living arrangements? She really didn't mind sleeping in her car..
"I can't in all good conscience let you sleep in your car, even around here. It's not safe and if something happened to you..."
Her eyes widened. She never thought about it. Well, she did think about it but she didn't think about it. And it occurred to her that this was the most Sam had said in the last hour - Brandy felt bad for been such a rambler. Now she felt bad for thinking so much about it.
"I own a few little duplexes in town. You're more than welcome, in fact no. I insist that you stay there while you're in Bon Temps."
She could of hugged him right then.
"Between you and me, you can stay there rent free. At least till you find you're feet, then we can talk rates."
She paused for a moment.
"Just for a night. That is all I need. I don't want to put you out, and people tend to.. talk.. in small towns. I already have a hotel room set up, and it wouldn't be fair that I receive an advantage over anyone else."
There was a moment, right after that, that she wondered if there was a reason Sam seemed not to talk that much. She knew it wasn't her place, he would tell her <if> and <when> he wanted to. Maybe it was because she was a witch, that she could sense something more about him.
And then she wanted to hug him again. At least she could control her body more than she could control her mouth.

Sam relaxed in his chair, he wouldn't be able to take her out to the duplexes till late. But he was sure Lafayette wouldn't mind locking up if he had to take off a bit earlier than normal and no doubt give him a d@mn good grilling at work tomorrow. Not that that was any different, Lafayette always had a snappy word to say about everyone and everything. He gazed over at Brandy, "Well, it's entirely your call. The duplex would be free until you find work and cheaper than any hotel around here. I have one ready to live in right away." he pondered over exactly what duplex it was. I guessed it didn't really matter not to know, it had all been cleaned up and redecorated since Dawn's passing. He frowned a little at the thought, Dawn wasn't exactly the sweetest girl that ever worked for him. But she never did deserve what happened to her. He mentally shook away the depressing images and thoughts.
"You don't mind hanging round here for a few more hours?" he gave her a concerned expression. "I can't take off just yet. Maybe in a coupla hours" he finished with the tone of a question and secretly wished Brandy would hang around.

"Well, it's entirely your call. The duplex would be free until you find work and cheaper than any hotel around here. I have one ready to live in right away."
Brandy smiled warmly, at this rate she was starting to take quite the liking to Sam. Still, it was hard to tell if he liked her back - and it was too early to try and prod the subject too much.
"I will keep that in mind, your very nice Sam. Just be careful with that, sometimes people tend to take advantage."
She knew that herself all to well, didn't she? Another reason she didn't stay in the coven back home that long.
"You don't mind hanging round here for a few more hours? I can't take off just yet. Maybe in a couple hours"
Oh, she wanted to stay - she even pondered it for a minute before she realized she needed things desperately. A few hours would give her perfect opportunity to pick up an interview outfit for tomorrow and some toiletries (a girl could never have too many)
"Actually, I was thinking I am going to go to the mall and pick up some stuff so this would be a perfect opportunity to do that. That way, you won't be in any rush because you feel bad for making me wait."
Brandy rustled through her pocket, pulling out a couple bills which she thought would be enough to cover her meal - leaving a tip of Lafayette. She handed the money to Sam, her hand softly touching his for a moment (even though presumably innocently) to place the money in his palm.
"Give me about three hours, I promise I will be back so please don't leave without me"
She smiled warmly, catching his gaze and then blushing again before she turned to leave. She wanted to be back as soon as possible. Stupid butterflies.

"I will keep that in mind, your very nice Sam. Just be careful with that, sometimes people tend to take advantage." Brandy said as almost a warning, but in kind tones. He knew only too well, thus his suspicious nature. So long as he kept people at arms length and only told them superficial things he felt secure.
Brandy made note of needing to get a few things so she'd head out to Pecanland Mall. She put some money down to pay for her meal and her hand lightly caressed Sam's hand as she did. He felt a brief moment of warmth at her touch. It made him smile, she seemed really sweet and genuine. Time would tell he thought as she stood up to leave.
"Give me about three hours, I promise I will be back so please don't leave without me"
"I'll be here." he said back with a smile he hoped didn't make him look goofy. "Where else would I be?" He had no idea why he just asked that question. It just blurted out nervously.

It had been a good three hours that Brandy was gone and she was almost nervous when she pulled up to the now almost - empty parking lot. Still, Sam told her that he would be there and she was pretty sure she didn't give him any reason to run off.
As she walked up to the doors of Merlotte's she clenched a white bag in her left hand, it was a small bag that contained the charm she had picked up for him. Now that her slender hand closed around the handle she wondered if she was being silly about the whole thing..
Funny that, as she opened the door and almost got whacked by a pair of tall man stumbling out that she would think of Summer and her lips on Sam.
"Oh, hey, lookie at you cutie! Hey Ron, check out this nice piece of meat!"
The guy that spoke was about 6'2, with scruffy black hair and a set of muscles on him. The guy he spoke to was short, stout, and definitely rough around the edges. They both were blocking Brandy's way in.
"Woooow lookie at the rack on this one!!"
Brandy couldn't believe the words coming out their mouth's, she had the right mind to cast some spell on them to put boils on their face or make their insides rot. How embarrassing!
"Look, pencil D!ck's, would you back off? There is an obvious reason here while you are guys aren't leaving with women - and are stuck leaving with each other"
Well, Brandy did have a feisty side - just it was rarely provoked, and this pair seemed to just bring it out of her. She was about to make her way past them, but "Ron" had bumped into her and sent the charm out of her hand. Curious, the other guy, had bent down to pick it up but being as drunk as he was had managed to step on it...
"......."
Great. As if this night could not end any worse.

The end of the night at Merlotte's was fast approaching. He'd found himself checking his watch a few times absent mindedly. Was he actually really waiting for Brandy? He went back to work, clearing up glasses and trying to persuade the last few stragglers to haul ass home. As per usual Jane Bodehouse was there, drooping all over the bar counter. A few other people were there but two of them got up to leave.
The door opened and Sam was hit with her scent immediately. But something was off, he smelled something no someone else. He couldn't quite pin point exactly. His thoughts were distracted as Brandy was being verbally assaulted by the two rednecks leaving the bar. A small commotion broke out and Sam rushed over there.
"Hey now, why don't you two gentleman just mosey on home. No need for trouble." he was now closer to Brandy and gave her a reassuring look.
"What if we don't wanna?" the taller one slurred. "Yeah." the other one chimed in mindlessly. "I suggest you two leave now. Go home and sober up, this happens again and there ain't no way I'm letting you back in here to harass people." Sam's voice was stern and challenged them to defy him. He stared intensely into the taller ones eyes. "Leave now."
Both men brushed past Brandy abrasively. No doubt thinking it best not to open there mouths to object and lose there local drinking hole. He looked back at Brandy after they both left, "Are you okay?" then he suddenly got another intake of the second scent and tried to hide a frown. Summer. Why? How? He couldn't bring it up, not without questions as to how he would know who she'd been in contact with.

"Hey now, why don't you two gentleman just mosey on home. No need for trouble."
That was Sam's voice, her dark caramel hues were sparkling again and as expected the two men had left. Redneck's, she thought, as she picked up the bag and frowned - almost scared to look inside.
"Are you okay?"
Funny, that she had tuned out the two men and only had listened to Sam. Silently she nodded, a sad expression on her face as she carefully opened the bag and pulled out the charm. Unfortunately, one of the legs on the little border collie had broken off which didn't seem quite as impressive now.
"Clumsy rednecks. I bought this for you, but.. I guess I can pick up another one."
Instead of giving it to him, she silently returned her hand to her side and laughed nervously.
"Sorry I had to keep you waiting so long, I ran into this woman at the mall who said she knew you. She also said you were a really good kisser and that you never called her. Is it bad I'm glad you never did? She was beautiful, but it would be kind of awkward if I asked you for a date and you were interested in someone else..."
There she went, rambling again.

Brandy's face seemed to sadden, she rummaged through a small white bag and brought out what looked like a charm for a cell phone. His eyebrows raised quickly as it was in the shape of a collie dog. He swallowed hard. "Aw you didn't need to do that. Really." he thought desperately on how to change the subject, but nothing was forthcoming.
There was an awkward silence before Brandy began to talk.
"Sorry I had to keep you waiting so long, I ran into this woman at the mall who said she knew you. She also said you were a really good kisser and that you never called her. Is it bad I'm glad you never did? She was beautiful, but it would be kind of awkward if I asked you for a date and you were interested in someone else..." she was off at top speed, almost not even taking time to draw breath.
More awkwardness. So his senses weren't lying to him, she had been in contact with Summer. He barely knew the tall Were that breezed into the bar a couple of nights ago and flirted with him shamelessly before planting a smacker right on his lips. "I don't really know her to be honest" Sam began, trying to think of how to put it without coming across as an @sshole."She's not really my type, a little too" he paused "much for me" he finished, not really able to come right out and say what he wanted to. Because she was a Werewolf

"Aw you didn't need to do that. Really."
"Oh, I know that. But it called to me, I don't know why. I find that if I don't react quickly to my... gut feelings.. then they tend to follow me around all night. You seem bothered by it, I guess you don't like dogs that much eh?"
Brandy was certain that wasn't it though, but Sam had actually changed the subject. When he mentioned how he didn't know Summer that well and that she wasn't really his type, Brandy had took the collie charm out of the bag and put it on her own phone.
"So you don't want a girl who grabs you and just kisses you? It is a bold move, I will admit, but I guess some guys are into that. I wouldn't mind a kiss like that, but I am more into the kind of kisses where your soul burns and everything around becomes just you and this other person. That is the kind of kiss you never come back from."
She had yet to have a kiss like that. Now, she was looking back at Sam with a thoughtful smile.
"So, handsome, should we take my car or yours?"

Brandy kept the collie charm in her hand, holding it gently as if it were something deeply sacred. Had Summer let slip about something? No, she wouldn't and anyway wouldn't know what his default shift form was. It was something else. Oh shi...he remembered her mentioning being a witch. Had she done something? Some sort of spell or incantation. He really didn't know much about witches at all. It spooked him out a little if he was being honest with himself.
He felt a little bad, as she put the charm on her own phone. She was off again, this time about kisses and he could sense the change in her. Her heart was racing and she was flushed ever so slightly. A normal human wouldn't have been able to pick up on it, but Sam isn't a normal human. More thoughts about Summer, more awkwardness.
"So, handsome, should we take my car or yours?" that snapped Sam out of his thoughts sharply. "Huh? Oh yeah, the duplex. Right." he said, almost blathering. He tried to work out what would be best. If they took Brandy's car, he'd have to explain how he'd get back. If they took his truck, then Brandy would have to leave her car at Merlotte's unattended. He hummed to himself.
"Maybe follow my truck?" he asked, a compromise was best all round he thought.

"Huh? Oh yeah, the duplex. Right."
Oh, he forgot? Brandy couldn't blame him, after all she had thrown him for a ringer with her rambling. She had to always get everything out in the open, maybe because she was a nervous wreck if she didn't. Secrets however, secrets she could keep - if they weren't her own.
"Well, unless you changed your mind"
"Maybe follow my truck?"
"Sure"
She couldn't help but to try and read his body language again, he kept so much to himself she wondered if he could ever open up to her. Right. Too soon to tell. She kept forgetting she had only known him for less than a day, but it felt like weeks.
"I'll meet you outside"
She began to make her way outside, and toward the car. For some reason, it seemed out of place right at that moment. She took a look back at him, wondering for that brief moment what his kisses were actually like.
Summer was a lucky son-of-a- *****.
