"Oh, that is nice of him. He seems like a nice guy, definitely someone I would want backing me up in a fight. He doesn't look it, but I bet he can give a punch!" Sam laughed, she didn't know how close to the truth she was with that statement. "Oh yeah, Lafayette can throw down with the best of 'em. The stories I could tell you about him." he laughed again, Lafayette was a real character.
Brandy leant across him to get her chips that were still inside the bag from the Grab-it-Kwik. He looked away as she did so, was a d*mn good job he was aware and not letting his drink let him get too carried away. She muttered something sleepily about the waitresses at Merlotte's. He smiled, she couldn't help herself getting that last word in.
The room went silent and Sam looked down gently and there was Brandy head leant against him, deep in sleep with the faintest of smiles. He stroked her hair from her face and took in her sleeping beauty. There wasn't any real practical way to have them both sleep on the sofa, so he carefully sat up with her in his arms and sliding one arm under her legs and slowly carried her to her bedroom.
Walking in, he noticed that it was sparse. A double bed with pure white sheets, duvet with matching pillows. A bedside table with an ornate gold and cream lamp. A walk in cupboard was sitting ajar and there were various bags and other things that Brandy had put in there while he was out getting the supplies. Lowering her onto the bed, he pulled the duvet out from under her and back over to cover her. He gave a small smile as he watched her snuggle underneath and before he realised he leant over her and kissed her lightly on the forehead. "G'night."
He turned and went back into the sitting room, laying down on the sofa and pulling the thick throw over him. He set the alarm on his wrist watch for 9am and took it off, laying it on the coffee table. He closed his eyes and smiled. For the first time in a long time, he was really happy.

A faint stream of light had poured out through the bedroom curtains, how convenient right in the path way of Brandy's half-open vision. She sat up with a yawn, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand lazingly as she mentally tried to wake herself up.
How did she end up on the bed? She must of fell asleep last night on the couch. The only possibility was that Sam had carried her to bed. Or she walked in her sleep.. no, she never walked in her sleep.
Quietly she crawled out of bed and trudged over to her bag to pull out everything she needed to get ready for that day, including a black dress with a black lace shirt to wear underneath. The watch in her bag had read 5:30 am, and she wondered to herself if that would be too early to start making breakfast.
Trudging across the carpet in her bare feet she turned to see Sam there, a thick blanket over his body. She resisted the urge to wake him and disappeared into the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day.

The colours everywhere were vibrant and radiated warmth and comfort. The greens were greener, the blues more vital. Everything around was surreal but beautiful. He felt his heart pound as feet hit the ground. Sheer exhileration overcame his entire body, this was absolute freedom.
Running as fast as his legs could carry him, the wind in his hair and a wide grin on his face. He couldn't stop running, not out of fear but to continue the feeling of liberation. The woods were suddenly upon him and as he ran through the scenery changed from beautiful woodlands to a city street. But the happy feelings remained.
A silhoutte of a woman stood on the horizon. Arms open, welcoming and giving off an aura of perfect beauty. He kept running, faster and faster. The woman growing steadily closer, he could make out her features now. Even more beautiful than he's imagined. Long flowing black hair, soft dark skin, a sensual smile and eyes you could drown in if you looked too deep. A sense of recognition as she lowered down to an almost kneeling position.
I bounded up to her, tail wagging furiously. She stroked my fur and smiled.
Sam's eyes shot open and he reached over groggily for his watch. He read the time and groaned in displeasure. He lay there bewildered about his dream. What the hell was that all about?

She had to of been in the shower for at least 20 minutes or so, but she felt better now. In her thoughts, she had almost forgot that Sam was on the couch so she made it her point to not run out in towel absent-mindly in case he was up.
That was the only reason she was getting dressed in the bathroom. It was much better than a trucker's bathroom, that was for sure. Once she was satisfied she was clean and ready for the day she opened up the bathroom door and let the warm steam fill the hallway.
How odd, that she would end up walking past Sam as he was snuffling and making the most unusual sounds in his sleep. She couldn't help but to give him a strange look until she saw him rustling awake. With a quick thought she dashed for the kitchen before he would notice her.
"Oh... hey there"
She was behind the kitchen counter, still able to see him. Already she was dressed and ready for the day, but she knew how early it was.
"If your still tired, your welcome to go into my bed and sleep an extra hour. Do you usually make animal sounds in your sleep? Makes me wonder what you are like in bed.."
Alright, so she just couldn't resist.

"Oh... hey there" Sam heard Brandy's voice, he tried to focus on where she was. His eyes blinked, clearing the myopia as he smiled at her, half asleep. "Hey" she was fully dressed and looked amazing. He had to question himself as to why he was being so reluctant to make a move. If he didn't, someone sure would.
She asked him about taking her bed to rest for a bit longer, but as soon as he opened his mouth to speak she dropped a bombshell. Well a bombshell to someone trying to keep a huge secret.
Do you usually make animal sounds in your sleep? Makes me wonder what you are like in bed.." his face fell and he scrambled to think what to say. He put on his best smile and thought, the truth.
"I had a dream I was a dog" he let out a small astonished laugh. "You were there" now his lips curled into a smirk. "In fact, you rubbed my belly" Now there was nothing wrong with a little embellishment.

"I had a dream I was a dog"
Oh, well, that certainly explained the snuffling and the growling. Though, she didn't know till then that human's were capable of making those kinds of sounds in their sleep. To that defense she had never heard anybody in their sleep.
What a sheltered life she lived.
"You were there"
Oh? He was dreaming of her already? Certainly that was a good thing. She quirked her eyebrow, intrigued.
"In fact, you rubbed my belly"
"Oh I did, did I? How cute, if you were a dog I defiantly would rub your belly. Till that happens, however, I guess you will just have to settle for me rubbing your shoulders after a hard day"
She flashed him a grin and began to rummage around the kitchen. Oh. That was right. Empty fridge, why didn't she think of it before? The only thing they had were ketchup chips. She would have to make a run to the store.
"Hmm.. well, what is your poison Sam? Should I run to the store and get some food so we can eat here, or would you like to go to a restaurant? I think I mentioned last night, in my little bit of tipsy-ness' that I would want to have breakfast with you."

"Oh I did, did I? How cute, if you were a dog I defiantly would rub your belly. Till that happens, however, I guess you will just have to settle for me rubbing your shoulders after a hard day" he felt the pangs of guilt again, as she bought his story. Not that it wasn't true of course, but that wasn't the real reason for the snuffling. He could have let out an exasperated groan if she wasn't there to question the reason.
His lips curled upwards as she flirted some more only this time talking of being there with him at the end of a hard days work. He imagined what that would be like, just to have someone there with you at the end of each night and at the beginning of each new day. It was something he always longed for, something he thought he'd have with Sookie. He wanted to let out another frustrated groan. There was no future with Sookie, he had to let it go. Mostly he had.
Sam pondered over her question. He was in two minds, the sensible boring side told him to go home get some more sleep and then shower and change for opening the bar. The other, more impulsive side wanted him to stay here. In fact he could stay here all day "As tempting as it is to stay here with you, I probably should head back to the trailer. Get ready to open the bar." he threw her a look of apology. "I'm really sorry Brandy. I had a good night with you last night" then he smirked again "even if you did pass out on me."

"As tempting as it is to stay here with you, I probably should head back to the trailer. Get ready to open the bar."
"Oh that is right, I guess I had to let you go sometime didn't I? I was hoping I imagined that part."
She paused for a moment, and opened the fridge again. Then she closed it. Then she opened it again. She was running through her mind what her mother usually had her fridge stocked with.
"I'm really sorry Brandy. I had a good night with you last night even if you did pass out on me."
Brandy had a look of fake shock on her face.
"Hey now, I resent that. If you had the kind of day I had last night you would of passed out as well mister!"
That of course, was followed by a smile.
"But yeah, I guess we both should get going. Um.. I guess I will try and catch up to you later? Maybe?"
She wasn't quite sure where she was going to go from there. She knew she had an interview, and probably a job - which required a trip to Pecanland mall. Maybe she would stop at the bar later.

"Hey now, I resent that. If you had the kind of day I had last night you would of passed out as well mister!" Sam laughed when she smiled and stood up putting his hands in his back pockets. "But yeah, I guess we both should get going. Um.. I guess I will try and catch up to you later? Maybe?"
Sam smiled a warm, genuine smile at the suggestion. "Yeah, you should stop by the bar later. Be nice to see you there." He hoped that she really would stop by to say hello. He felt like he was having to rush away and if it wasn't for his responsibilities he'd have stuck around a little longer.
"If there's anything you need. Any help with this place." he motioned his hands around the room. "you just let me know okay. I'll be glad to help" he stood looking across at her in the kitchen. What now? Do I hug her? Shake her hand? Kiss her? Or just wave and leave? There was no rule for this situation, he had to think on the fly. He made up his mind and walked over to Brandy.
Leaning down, he gave her a small kiss on the cheek. "I mean it now, I want to see you there." he smiled and his blue eyes twinkled and he turned to make his way back to the trailer to get ready for work.

"Yeah, you should stop by the bar later. Be nice to see you there."
She smiled again, seeming to do that a lot lately. She felt fortunate to have the friends she did. She just wanted more with him, there was no shame in that right?
"I think I can arrange that"
"If there's anything you need. Any help with this place. You just let me know okay. I'll be glad to help"
Brandy nodded, but she was still hesitate on staying in the duplex. It still felt like she was taking advantage of Sam. Would he be offended if she left the place though?
He was getting ready to leave and he was coming toward her. She wasn't sure what he was going to do, so she remained motionless when he bent down and kissed her cheek.
She glanced at him slowly and didn't speak when he turned around and walked away. Her heart was pounding, and she forced herself to take a breath.
She was falling in love with Sam Merlotte.

~ // ~ She wasn't sure if she was suppose to change. Didn't people usually dressed up nicely for dates? She wondered how many people would be in the theater anyway, it was a late night show after all. The last showing of the night she was sure but she had read in the paper that the local theater did those late night showings twice a week.
After a shower she did her make up and put on a nice, simple fushia dress. She liked the color of it and with a final touch of feather earrings it was a nice look in her mind.
It wasn't like it was going to be a terribly long night, the pair had plans to go paint balling' with Jason and Haylee relatively early in the morning. "Relative" meaning they wouldn't be able to stay up till 5 am.
She assumed after the movie he would drop her off at home and go to sleep, and then come back to pick her up in the morning. Maybe it would be a better idea for him just to sleep on the couch again. Guess they would decide that later.

Sam pulled up at the front of his duplexes, stopping the car. He took a deep breath and checked himself in the rearview mirror. Why he didn't know. Her took his keys from the ignition and got out of the cab and made the walk towards Brandy's duplex.
He'd changed out of his plaid shirt from work into a dark navy blue short sleeved shirt with white piping along the seams. He put on a pair of black jeans instead of his traditional stonewash blue. He wanted to look like he at least made an effort.
Knocking on the door, Sam hoped he didn't overdo it with his cologne. He rarely went to all this trouble, but tonight was a special occasion and he wanted look and smell nice for her.

Brandy had been sitting on the couch at this point, staring at the television which wasn't set up for cable quite yet. She couldn't help but to laugh at herself as she whispered "Their heerrreeee" once she heard a knock at the door.
Brandy had picked herself up from the couch and over to the door. With one hand on the knob she struggled with her free hand to put on her shoes.
"Just a moment hun"
Uh oh, she called him 'hun' instead of Sam. And even her tone had been affectionate in its simplicity. Oh well, it was too late to take it back. Quietly she had opened the door, and almost immediately she could smell the faint aura of quite an enticing cologne.
"Oh wow.. you smell really good - like really good. I mean, you usually smell great - just - whatever type of cologne that is it really works for you Sam"
She has almost forgot her purse on the counter, shaking her head she reached and grabbed it to hook it over her shoulder.
"Did you uh, need anything before we go?"

"Just a moment hun" Sam heard Brandy call through the door. He smiled a real geniune smile. It was quite sweet and unexpected. Then the door opened and there she stood clad in a beautiful fuschia dress. She looked amazing and it took every ounce of Sam's control not to drop his jaw and drool.
"Oh wow.. you smell really good - like really good. I mean, you usually smell great - just - whatever type of cologne that is it really works for you Sam" well that didn't help, he thought but smiled at the compliment. "Thank you. I wasn't sure if I overdid it." he smiled awkwardly before giving her a long look. "You look fantastic." he said it almost breathlessly.
"Did you uh, need anything before we go?"
"I uh..." he almost stammered, struggling to keep his focus off that dress and how good she looked in it. His mind wandered a little before being dragged back kicking and screaming to reality. "No, no. I'm good thanks." his focus returned completely as he smiled impishly. "Your chariot awaits ma'am." his Texan drawl seemed to emphasise the final word spoken.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if I overdid it. You look fantastic."
Brandy had resisted the urge to say 'oh, this old thing?' even though it was rather old. She had it for at least a year, but never had the occasion to wear it. It was meant to be a 'date' outfit after all.
"Thank you, I just wanted to look nice for you tonight, and you look nice too. Seeing you in black jeans feels like a real treat"
What an odd thing to say, but it was true. She liked his usual look too, but this just added something different. She was doing her best to be on good behavior, though it was hard. With his smell, his body, and his charm - it was really hard.
When he paused as if thinking there was something, but then changed his mind, she was almost ready to question him on it. However, he finally added something that caught his accent and made Brandy's heart swell again.
"Your chariot awaits ma'am."
"My my sir, it would be a honor to ride shot gun with you"
She chuckled softly and left the duplex, knowing that he would close and lock the door behind her. He did own the place after all.
"Have any idea what we are going to see? I don't really do good with horror flicks, I will probably end up hiding my face in your chest all night"
Well hell, everyone had their weaknesses - -
