Rose had decided to go for a walk as soon as she had awoke. Normally she would spend some time getting ready and head out to Shreveport, she was always sure to find fun there. But tonight had been different, she needed a break from the noise, no matter how long she walked the earth she still couldn't get used to all the noise at night. Though night was now her time, she still liked the peacefulness of a quiet road, so she went off for a walk to see what she could find.
The silence of the night reminded her of her human life sometimes, and sometimes she needed to think about it. It helped her remember what it was like to be human, therefore helping her interact with them better. But these memories could only absorb her for so long, they were in such a distant past and she had seen so much since then. Sometimes, just sometimes silence didn't need to be so quiet, so she listened closely and followed what looked like a well worn road.
She couldn't remember what backwater town she had come into tonight, but she was sure there was somewhere to go at night. Sure enough she happened upon what looked like the only bar in this place, she stood in the parking lot as she surveyed it. Merlottes, no doubtedly named after the owner. Rose shook her head, she was sure to meet some interesting characters if she went in there.

Sookie was running rather late to work. Considering the fact that her boyfriend was a vampire, they could only spend time together at night. And this sometimes caused Sookie to sleep all day and neglect certain daily activities, like getting to work on time. But, since she and Sam were friends and the fact that Sookie had worked at Merlotte's for more than five years, she knew that it would have to be OK every once in awhile to be 20 minutes or so late. But tonight, it was more like an hour. Her phone had been ringing off the hook, and she could do nothing but wake up and shower and head straight there.
As she got out of the car she made sure to check if her crisp white Merlotte's tshirt was tucked in perfectly, and it was. The night was already dark and she knew they had to be busy inside. All the locals there to get the daily gossip and those locals who cared nothing about the gossip, just the drinking. She was sure Lafayette was working tonight and she was going to make it a point to talk to him, to make sure he was alright before she went off to Dallas. Grabbing her apron, Sookie began to walk towards Merlotte's.
But, to her surprise, she saw someone standing in the parking lot. Considering all the bad things that had happened in this one little lot, Sookie was smart enough to be careful. Dead bodies, fights, vampire draining, it all happened here. So, Sookie walked, carefully towards the person. As she got closer, it looked like a female. But not your average Bon Temps female. More like someone who had lived. So, Sookie listened, and heard nothing. It was a vampire. Clearing her throat, she decided to speak up. "Why good evening there!" She said in her southern accent, trying to sound a friendly as she could. "You gonna come inside tonight or just wanna watch the lot?"

Rose smiled as she heard someone approaching, then that unmistakable southern drawl. Slowly turning so as not to startle anyone she found herself facing a young woman, who looked like she was wearing a uniform. Well what luck for me to run straight into a member of staff. Rose wondered if they all dressed like this, she still wasn't used to females dressing in so little attire.
Rose still hadn't decided whether she wanted to bother with the stares and whispering which you normally encounter in such a small place once they discover a vampire in their midst. Of course she could always order something other than True Blood, but she hadn't fed in days and knew she should really feed if she was to feel at all comfortable around so many unsuspecting humans. Of course she could walk in and ask, and everyone would know, but if none was available she felt she might have to leave, yet she was interested in how they would react with her in their bar. She was sure they were capable of defending themselves if necessary, she had had enough run ins during her time to realise humans were capable of this much. But her curiosity got the better of her and she decided to see how this employee would react to her. "Evening, I was just admiring the quaint outside of this building. Trying to decide if they serve people of my taste or not."

Sookie smiled her real big smile, as usual. In a way to make people feel comfortable or was it way for her to make a weird situation seem comfortable? Standing beside the girl, she replied "Why yes, we serve people of all types. Even your types!" She said, maybe a bit too soon. But sometimes she couldn't help it, the fact she could hear thoughts. Or in the case of vampires, hear nothing, which was beautiful to her on any day. "It is kinda quaint huh? Id say most of Bon Temps is that way!" She smiled again at the girl then back at Merlotte's, a place she spent most of her time.
Making sure her apron was on, Sookie figured it would be a nice gesture to ask the girl to come in with her. "Im Sookie Stackhouse, barmaid here." She said holding out her hand for the girl to take. "I promise, come on it, unless you are planning to, umm, kill people." She said, maybe a bit too soon. But still, she said it. Sookie spoke her mind more often than not.

Slightly taken aback by how forward this young person was, Sookie, what a strange name I won't forget it soon, Rose had to mentally shake herself. Sometimes when she got lost in her memories she forgot what century she was in, and being where it was quite always took her back to when there was less hustle and bustle.
"Even your types." That said a lot to Rose, such a simple short phrase, yet she knew immediately Sookie knew she was different. Even possibly knew she was a vampire. How was that possible? As the barmaid spoke in Rose realised Sookie must know she is a vampire. Talking about killing people! Well to be honest Rose knew she could easily do it, but it wasn't worth all the hassle in the end. Unless she could cover up what she had done, but she had stopped here to see if she could quench her thirst the 'mainstream' way.
Rose seen Sookie reach out her hand as if wanting to lead her into the bar, this confused her a it as she began to wonder could this girl be more simple than smart? Rose smiled, "Well, I have no plans to kill anyone Sookie. My name is Rose and I'm just looking to enjoy a bottle or two or Tru Blood." Rose reached out and took a firm hold of Sookie's hand as they started towards the door.

Sookie smiled. This vampire must be old. Sookie only wanted a hand shake, but it seemed that she had let it linger too long and was now having to escort so to speak, the girl inside. Not wanting to be rude and jerk her hand away, considering what all those in the bar would think. She instead let her order booklet fall out of her other hand. Which now, she had to let go of the hand escorting Rose inside. "Opps, sorry about that. I can be so clumsy sometimes." She spoke with a giggle. "And Im a bar maid of all things. I carry food and drink all night!" She laughed some more as she picked up her order book, kept it in her hands, and continued to walk. Playing a dummy really helped Sookie out of the silliest and strangest of situations.
"We have pretty much all types of True Blood. I make sure Sam keeps them, especially for my boyfriend. You might know him, Bill Compton?" She asked as they reached the door. No telling what the Bon Temps folk would think of her bringing in yet another creature of the night. But when the hell did she care. Not anytime recently, she got over that the night Bill ventured into the bar, the first vampire she ever met. And her first boyfriend. "Come on in Rose!" Sookie said holding the door open, making sure to hold her order book tight!

Rose watched as Sookie's booklet fell out of her hands and the barmaid had to let go of her hand to retrieve it. To often Rose forgot she was in the twentieth century, especially now she was no longer part of a nest. Thought wasn't this the point of mainstreaming? To learn how to live peacefully alongside humans? Rose knew she was stronger, wiser, than these humans but sometimes you just couldn't shake what you had been taught growing up. Rose smiled as Sookie apologised for her clumsiness, "No matter Sookie, we are all a little clumsy sometimes."
As Rose looked at Sookie, she couldn't shake her confusion at this human, there was something different about her. Even though vampires were now known to exist it didn't stop people from reacting in certain ways. Just look at the Fellowship of the Sun, they couldn't put their views across on television enough. Then there were the fangbangers, of course some people were going to have a morbid curiosity, it also made getting blood alot easier nowadays. But this girl, Sookie, she knew Rose was a vampire, even before Rose had spoke or moved. Yet, she treated Rose in the most normal way, it was not something she was used to, it made her want to learn more about this town. Why was this barmaid not taken aback by a vampires presence? Were all the town folks like this?
Rose found out the answer to one of her questions quite quickly, it seemed she was the female companion of a vampire. Bill Compton. She's sure she should know that name, but sometimes it is hard to keep up when you meet so many. "Bill Compton? I'm not sure, I've met so many people in my life that I don't always recall people so clearly. Maybe once I see him I may recall if I have ever met him." As Sookie held open the door a rush of noise and smells reached Rose, turning to Sookie, Rose nodded and took her first steps into Merlotte's.

Sookie followed after Rose into Merlotte's. As usual, a flood of thoughts rushed to her as fast as lightning during a thunder storm. She normally could keep it at bay, but when she wasn't prepared or when people were thinking hard, it was not the easiest of things. Stepping in after Rose, an obvious different looking person, Sookie knew what people were thinking without having her power. Another vampire Sookie has brought in. Why does she do this? and of course that's the thoughts that seeped in.
Ignoring the looks of everyone, she turned to Rose. "Take a seat anywhere, Ill get you something to drink!" As she said this, she noticed Sam at the bar. Where was Tara tonight? Off with her new friends? Sookie put this thought on the back burner. Taking out her book, Sookie asked "What do you want? O negative, O positive? Heated?" Knowing that she would hear it from people around, she didnt care. Not at all.

"I'll have a O positive...heated Sookie."
Rose looked around herself, not just for a seat but to take in the sight of Merlotte's. It was cosy enough, a pool table, dining area. Of course Rose couldn't help but notice all the faces turned in her direction as she entered the bar with Sookie. Yet just as quickly they seemed to avert their eyes from her face. Casually she walked over to an empty booth, not to far from some young lads, who looked set out to enjoy themselves. She had felt almost lost, powerless when she was caught up short outside, so deciding to take control of herself she threw a winsome smile at them. She did love to watch their reactions, and she felt more in the mood fro showing who she was after that small lapse.
It wasn't often you came into a place like Merlotte's and were not eyeballed because you were unknown, but she was positive by the looks on their faces they knew she was vampire. Though when she thought about it more people seemed to recognise them for what they were now since they came out of their coffins. She was sure one or two of them would be very tasty, she c could smell their intrigue with her from where she was sitting., being quite hungry just made it all that more palatable. Of course she was also sure the sheriff of the area would not be impressed if she was to cause a little stir here, so she sat calmly and contently waiting for her True Blood.

Pam eased out of her vehicle and adjusted her blouse. She hated being treated like a gopher but whatever Eric wanted of her she gave willingly. Pam curled her lip, this little town always smelled like death and not the good kind. She could tell that she had just missed Sookie and that the telepath wasn't alone. Pam felt a little concerned for a moment. Eric would not be pleased if something happened to her. As Pam entered the bar the place got a little quieter and she was pleased that she could still terrify people at first sight. As Pam scanned the crowd she found the girl she needed to speak with and a vampire she had never seen before.

Sookie wrote down Rose's order, "Heated it will be!" She said with a smile as she put her book back in her apron and happily bounced over to the bar. Sam kept a case of True Blood at first, just for the fact that a vampire might show up. But now, he kept more than usual. Considering his best employee was in cohoots with the vampires, he was being the gentleman that he always had been. As Sookie was heating up the bottle to an even 98.6, she knew just exactly how long it would take, she head a thought swoop in her head. If it aint another one.
At this, she knew it was a vampire. The folks of Bon Temps were nice and polite on the outside, but on the inside, oh boy could they be harsh. Sookie turned around to see who might have decided to enter tonight. Was it Bill? Sadly, no. It was Pam, Eric's second in command. Whenever Sookie saw her, she knew it was never a social call. Always Eric needing this or Eric needing that. Pam was always a funny gal, never too harsh to Sookie and Sookie rather enjoied Pam's humor. It must have been because of her age. Very old.
As the microwave binged, she took out the bottle and headed over to Rose. Setting it down "Here ya go" she gave a little wave to Pam. "Hey Pam. What, may I ask, brings you to Bon Temps? What does Eric need now?" Sookie's voice had to have a hint of disgust or was it excitement? She herself did not even know.

Pam struck her signature pose. With pursed lips and hands on hips Pam probably looked quite the snit. "Sookie, as always you leave quite the impression. Unfortunately you are correct. This isn't a social call." Pam had always wondered what the appeal was. It wasn't that she wasn't pretty, she was indeed quite fetching. She had a gift that was useful but that would eventually be played out. Pam felt for the first time in many years puzzled. It was like a slap in the face. A smile pulled back on her mouth. She felt quite pleased. "Dear lovely Sookie, Eric hopes that you are well but he will be needing your services." Pam paused to glance back at the new vampire. Whatever Pam needed to tell Sookie it definitely couldn't in front of this stranger and she couldn't leave until she made Sookie aware of the favor. Pam pulled up a seat at the bar. "However I am feeling a little adventurous since it is my night off. B negative and keep it coming if you don't mind."

Sookie's smile quickly faded, as she knew the inevitable. Eric wanted something, as per usual. Never just a day of working and home. Always something. Looking at Pam, with her standoffish pose, she could not help but have a feeling of loathing. Of disgust. "Of course this wouldn't be a social call. That would be too normal." She said through gritted teeth. Looking around the bar, she could see a few of the patrons trying to listen. She could listen to them, but at the moment she did not care. Sookie was about to say some smart remark about Pam having to be the fetch dog for Eric, but Pam beat her to the talking punch. "A drink?" She asked and stated at the same time. "Here at a lowly bar?" She said with a bit of a sarcastic tone. Pam having a drink at Merlotte's was quite out of the ordinary. Oh the thoughts everyone in the bar would have, two vampires here and both mingling with Sookie. Sheesh. "Coming right up then Pam!" She replied as she headed back over to the bar.

"Yes Sookie, even us admirable vampires feel the need to slum it every once and awhile." Pam got up off the bar stool and followed Sookie. "Tell me dear, do you hate me so much that you would bite my head off? I was merely wondering if you would do me a little tiny favor. If you want me to leave, I would be more than happy to. If you would like to deny the request asked of you, that is fine as well. You are not a prisoner and never have been." Pam pouted a bit. "I just thought that we were girlfriends now...I guess this means no slumber parties?" Pam started to head back to the bar stool. She pause half way and snap her fingers "However you know I can't return now until I tell you what he wants because Eric wouldn't be happy. I couldn't bear to lie to him so I will either wait for you here and give you something to be happy about..." Pam flashed some cash "Or I can wait outside your house and then you will not have gained anything from this trip." Pam loved to tease.

Rose watched as Sookie brought over her bottle, another vampire had entered the bar in the meantime and seemed determined to speak to the barmaid. Well, well, it seems this isn't such a quite place after all.'
Slowly sipping Rose thought about the vampire at the bar, she knew she recognised her from somewhere, but faces where hard to place when you had been around so long. Throwing a winning smile at a nearby patron Rose swallowed the last of the True Blood, deciding she may have one more then head to Shreveport for the night. She might even decide to have a taste of something more...exotic.
