His hand had reached around her waist and her heart started pounding. Even as he pulled her close she couldn't help but to be proud to be his girl. Proud, and incredibly giddy - like this was her first time being in real love.
"Well, I only need one type"
She smiled when he kissed the side of her head, sending a curious glance his way. What kind of type was she? She was sure he wasn't just talking about her witchcraft, maybe he just liked nice girls? Or maybe, like half of the people in the world, he just didn't like being lonely.
Loneliness was not an option anymore, as long as she was around she would be next to him. And she would fight for him, whatever came their way - she would fight for.
All these thoughts in her head, she must of been more hungry than she thought.
"No, definitely not fertilized."
Of course, he had to say that right as they were walking into the restaurant. She wasn't even paying attention when the door was opened and they were standing in the lobby soon to be seated. She had looked at him right then, the most curious of glances and the most tiniest of smirks on her lips.
"Oh geesh Sam, I'm not ready to have your babies. Just the mind-blowing sex is enough"
The sound of somebody clearing their throat was well within range and Brandy looked slowly to the source. There were some scattered laughs from the truckers that had been within hearing distance, and Brandy looked toward the gray-haired waitress with a nervous smile.
"Uh.. table for two?"
The waitress, known as "Melinda" - due to her faded name tag - had lead the pair toward the back of the restaurant. Brandy had kept her head down and focused on just getting to the table so she didn't notice any strange looks. She was sure she was getting them though.
As she slipped into her seat across from Sam, she lightly reached for the menu and stuck it in front of her face.
"I'm so sorry... it seems you just won't be able to take me out in public anymore"

"Oh geesh Sam, I'm not ready to have your babies. Just the mind-blowing sex is enough"
Normally Sam would be flattered by such an outburst, but the timing was way off and Brandy blurted it out to every person inside the truck stop heard and stopped and stared and the male patrons leered.
A grey haired waitress came over to them and Brandy hurriedly asked for a table for two. Brandy sat down covering her face with a menu. Sam sat down in the seat facing her.
"I'm so sorry... it seems you just won't be able to take me out in public anymore"
Sam reached out to pull the menu down to see her face. A huge grin plastered on it. "You sure know how to make an entrance."

Brandy blinked as the menu was pulled down and she found herself looking right at Sam's smiling face. She still couldn't hide her flustered expression.
"You sure know how to make an entrance."
"I'm here 7 days a week..."
Brandy mumbled into the menu, and tilted it down so that Sam could see her. It would be rude to keep on covering her face, after all. The waitress didn't give them much time to look over the menu, as she was already looming over Brandy with a note pad in her hands.
Brandy was glad that she couldn't read minds. The body expression was enough.
"Uh... I'll take a sweet tea and the grand-slam please. Do you have chocolate chip pancakes?"
"Sure, on the kids menu"
Melinda, for some reason, had emphasized the word 'kid'. At this Brandy had put down the menu and looked at the waitress with the biggest grin she could muster.
"The grand-slam with bacon, chocolate chip pancakes, and my eggs sunny-side up. I love them that way, they just look like a big old pair of boob's staring up at you don't they?"
Melinda had nothing to say, she only stared at Brandy and wrote the order down with her mouth slightly open. Brandy handed the woman back the menu, along with a 5 dollar bill.
".. for the special request. But keep it for yourself, you look like you have your share of complaints after a long day"
Melinda didn't know if Brandy was complimenting her, or.. insulting her. Brandy's smile didn't reveal anything either way and so Melinda turned her attention to Sam.
"And for you?"

Sam sat with a hand covering the grin on his face as he watched Brandy run rings round the grey haired waitress. It was amusing to watch but it made Sam glad he had women working for him that seemed to care about there job. Even Arlene.
When Brandy made the observation about the eggs, Sam almost choked and was definetly glad he didn't have anything in his mouth. Or it'd get shot out his nose.
"And for you?"
That put an end to his grin. "Oh..uh I'll have the same, but regular pancakes and extra bacon please." Melinda scribbled down his order and turned on her pumps and put the order into the kitchen.
"Well, she was pleasant." Sam remarked with sarcasm.

"Oh..uh I'll have the same, but regular pancakes and extra bacon please."
Why didn't Brandy think to order extra bacon? She had looked over toward the kitchen just as Melinda put her order up and was able to make eye contact with the cook that took the ticket.
He was a young man with choppy brown hair and he was clean shaven. He was making contact with Brandy, and Brandy took the opportunity to mouth toward him 'extra bacon please?' and the man offered her a nod.
Brandy was glad she never took a job as a cook in a kitchen.
"Well, she was pleasant."
"She looks like she needs to get laid.. I'm going to go to the ladies room."
She offered Sam a warm smile and stood up from her seat. The table and chairs were pretty crowded and the bathroom's seemed to be around the corner and out of sight. She didn't know why she didn't like that, but as she rounded the corner the door to the kitchen had swung open and the cook she made eye contact earlier had stepped out.
"I overheard what you said to Melinda"
Brandy glanced at the young man and nervously cupped her hands behind her back.
"Uh.. yeah.. about that..."
"I haven't laughed so much in my life. She is such a b!tch and she thinks she owns the place. It was very refreshing."
"Oh well, your welcome.. I guess?"
Brandy had turned to head to the bathroom when the man had reached for her hand. It made Brandy stop, she wasn't used to anybody grabbing her hand but Sam.
"That man your sitting with, is he your boyfriend?"
Brandy nodded.
"You should stick close to him in this place. I wouldn't want a pretty girl like you getting hurt."
The man had let go of her hand, and Brandy returned it to her side with a confused expression on her face.
"Does that happen a lot here? Girls getting hurt?"
"Truckers get lonely. Things do happen. You should hurry back to the table once you are done, I saw a couple of men watching you."
"Oh, well.. thank you. Um.. ?"
"Teddy. I will make sure you have lots of extra bacon"
Brandy nodded her thanks and slipped into the bathroom. And locked the door. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to be kidnapped by someone, what a horrible thought. Once she was done freshening up and she had made her way out of the bathroom, she ended up bumping into another man.
This man was not Teddy. Brandy had rose her head slowly toward the big trucker looming over her with a staggering 6'3. He was looking down at her with his arms crossed and the biggest, most creepiest grin on his face. He was blocking Brandy's way toward the tables.
"Well, aren't you just the sweetest little thing? And where do you think you are going?"
Brandy's heart jumped into her throat, a hushed whisper musing past her full lips..
"Sam!"

Brandy excused herself to go the ladies room. He waited on there order being brought over and kept himself company with his own thoughts. He wasn't looking forward to letting her go to Dallas. He was so protective of her and he didn't know what he'd do if she got hurt.
Sam checked his watch and he wondered where Brandy had gotten too. He pulled his chair out, about to go to the restrooms to see if she was alright.
Sam!
Brandy's voice filtered over to him. It was quiet and it was full of panic. He got up from his chair and looked around for her. His eyes went from panic to anger in a heartbeat. Some big burly trucker was blocking her path aggressively.
Sam's protection instincts kicked into high gear as he sped over towards them. "Why don't you let her go?" Sam said as calmly as he possibly could under the circumstances.
"How about you go get f*cked little man." the trucker yelled back, laughing as he did.
"How about you just let her go? She's not doing you any harm." Sam's voice increased in authority. He reached out for the man's heavily tattooe'd arm."
The man spun run and made a lunge at Sam. Trying to swat him like an bug. Sam ducked out the way and as he moved his body upwards, he kneed Brandy's harasser where it would hurt him the most.
Sam looked over at Brandy, his hand extended out to her. Ragged breaths consuming him as he tried to control his temper. "C'mer." he said softly.

"Why don't you let her go?"
Sam! He had heard her, she was trying to hide her panic when she saw him. Their eyes met for a moment, but the big guy did not seem to be threatened by Sam in the slightest.
"How about you go get f*cked little man."
Brandy was irritated, what was this dumdum going to do? Beat up Sam and then snatch her up to rush her out the back door? All she wanted to do was stomp on the guy's foot and rush over to Sam.
"How about you just let her go? She's not doing you any harm"
Then it happened. Sam had reached for the man's arm and the man lurched forward to try and knock him back. Brandy immediately fell into a panic but Sam was obviously quicker and more nimble than the trucker had given him credit for - and he sent his knee right into the trucker's groin.
The trucker went down like a sack of hammers, cursing underneath his breath as Sam turned to Brandy.
"C'mer."
Brandy didn't think twice, she literally side stepped the man and rushed into Sam's arms. However, it was obvious that the trucker was not going to be satisfied to just lay there. The fact remained that the man's pride had been wounded and he was already getting up to his feet.
Brandy let go of Sam, and placed her hand on the trucker's shoulder. She knelt down, a hush whisper forming on her lips as she closed her pretty brown eyes.
"Dea Lego , frendo is vir sub vestri tremor vires. EGO to order thee ut servo vestri secuutus , quod subsisto suus monumentum pariter" Goddess Selene, crush this man under your trembling strength. I command thee to serve your follower, and cease his memories as well"
"What the.. what the f*ck is happening to me? My muscles.. oh god.. they feel like they are being torn apart.. my god... what. the. f*ck?!"
Brandy placed her hand over his eyes and she stood up to her feet. It was quick, even brief, and if she had been in a right mind she might of spit on him. What she had done, was teared his muscles so he couldn't move. He couldn't even get up as much as he struggled, after a moment he had looked up at her.
"I think I need a doctor. Can you get me a doctor?"
He acted that he hadn't seen her before, Brandy hung onto Sam and directed him back toward the table. The man, the whole time, was whimpering in the hallway - with no recollection as to why.
"I hope breakfast is ready, I'm starving"

Brandy rushed into Sam's arms and he held her tightly. Kissing her lightly on the forehead. He took advantage of his shifter agility and speed to one up Brandy's attacker. He felt eyes on both of them, no-one lept to the man's defence which was surprising but he was grateful. No need for any more problems.
Brandy slipped from Sam's arms and knelt down to the prone trucker and whispered something Sam didn't understand. Soon after the trucker was screaming in agony. Sam's eyes widened and his breath was shallow. Was that Brandy? Moments later he was looking up at Brandy with a face full of pain and bewilderment. Sam edged back towards the table.
"I hope breakfast is ready, I'm starving" Brandy came back over to him, as if nothing happened.
Sam sat at the table and waited for Brandy to sit down. "Was that...you?" his eyes still shocked at what he'd just seen.

"Was that...you?"
Before Brandy could answer the question, Melinda had brought out their plates and set them down in front of the pair. Melinda looked concerned with a hand on her hip as she looked over her shoulder toward the hallway.
"That is Logan who you had that run-in with. I'm surprised you are in one piece, rumors have been going around that he has kidnapped at least two women but there is no proof. Your a lucky girl."
Brandy cleared her throat and glanced at Sam, luck really had nothing to do with it.
"Sound's like he needs a doctor. Maybe someone should call one for him?"
Melinda glanced at Brandy and laughed out loud, shaking her head. Brandy didn't know if Melinda was a b!tch, or just had fallen into the same routine for so many years she just didn't give a sh!t anymore.
Not that Brandy felt sorry for Logan in the slightest. She knew Sam didn't.
Nobody was calling a doctor, and all Brandy heard from that moment was some whimpering and a back door shutting. Brandy only shrugged and began to eat her meal. Well, she started to eat it before she realized she didn't answer Sam yet.
"Yeah. That was me. I couldn't risk him getting up and trying to take a round out of you. Thank you.. for coming to help me."
Brandy reached across the table with her free hand, lightly stroking the side of his cheek before she returned her attention back to her meal.
Her meal that came with ten friggin slices of bacon!!

Melinda the waitress came over with there plates full to the brim with there breakfast before Brandy could even reply to Sam. She recounted rumours about the trucker, a man named Logan. Sam glowered at the thought. When the waitress laughed at Brandy's request for a doctor, Sam's mood brightened if only a little. That piece of sh*t deserved everything he got"
Sam nodded in thanks for the food and watched as Melinda scooted off back to get more orders or refills.
"Yeah. That was me. I couldn't risk him getting up and trying to take a round out of you. Thank you.. for coming to help me."
"What else was I supposed to do?" he smiled thinly, acknowledging her thanks. "This is one time I'm happy you did...well you know." Sam didn't want to draw anymore unecessary attention to themselves, so he left the sentence as is. Knowing she'd understand what he meant.
He looked down at her plate and pulled a face. "10 slices? You gotta be kiddin' me?"

"What else was I supposed to do?"
Brandy had looked at Sam as she picked apart the slices of bacon. When she asked for extra bacon, she expected 5 slices.. not 10. Teddy must of really liked her.
"This is one time I'm happy you did...well you know."
"... Sam."
The tone of her voice wasn't a happy one. He mentioned her bacon, and she passed him 4 slices, bringing his 5 slices up to 9. Men were suppose to have more food anyway, Brandy couldn't keep her slender figure if she ate all of them.
It was a nice gesture though, and she looked over her shoulder and smiled toward Teddy. Then she continued, keeping her voice low enough for only him to hear.
"Are you really trying to tell me you are never glad that I use my gift? That this is the one time? Because of what, that it was in public? Don't think that because I hardly ever use magic that I am not capable of covering up my tracks should there be a necessity for it."
Brandy was pouting, almost, with her elbow on the table and her fork in her hand. She skipped the maple syrup and decided to eat the pancakes with a little bit of raspberry jam.
And then she was silent, a sigh musing past her full lips as she looked at him.
"I would give it up all up for you. If I could, you know. Send it away without another thought. But then, I wouldn't be special enough to be with you. At least, like this, I have something to offer other than goofy comments and a warm body at night."

Sam... Brandy began, her voice and posture was one of unhappiness. She placed a few slices of her bacon onto his plate.
"Are you really trying to tell me you are never glad that I use my gift? That this is the one time? Because of what, that it was in public? Don't think that because I hardly ever use magic that I am not capable of covering up my tracks should there be a necessity for it."
Sam frowned and picked at the bacon, but not able to eat it. Not when Brandy felt so low. He reached his hand out to her. "Hey, that's not what I meant. I just think in places like this, you oughta be careful." he sighed a little, not liking how he'd seemingly hurt her feelings.
"I would give it up all up for you. If I could, you know. Send it away without another thought. But then, I wouldn't be special enough to be with you. At least, like this, I have something to offer other than goofy comments and a warm body at night."
Sam shook his head vigourously. Those words affected him the most. "No...no." his face fell. His eyes looked into hers with complete honest and sincerity. "I don't want you to give anything up. You wouldn't be you." he just wanted to pull her over to him, hold her close. "This is who and what you are. I accept it and you, just as you have me. Don't ever think I want you to change." he smiled, trying to comfort her. "You're special to me no matter what. Please, remember that."

She wasn't expecting him to reach out for her hand, but it was a comforting gesture. Especially after what just happened only minutes before.
"Hey, that's not what I meant. I just think in places like this, you oughta be careful."
Brandy knew he was right. She was able to contain it, and hide it in this situation - but had they of been in the middle of the restaurant she couldn't exactly go mumbling spells to make some @sshole's muscles cave in.
To her next comment, it was obvious he disagreed by the way he was shaking his head. There were times that being with Sam had caused her to realize things about herself she wouldn't normally explore.
Love did that to people sometimes.
"No...no. I don't want you to give anything up. You wouldn't be you."
Her heart swelled, and she gulped before she nodded slowly. Sam was so honest with her, and she knew he cared for her deeply.
"This is who and what you are. I accept it and you, just as you have me. Don't ever think I want you to change. You're special to me no matter what. Please, remember that."
"Apparently I am special enough for you to knee a guy twice your size in the nuts. Not just anybody would of been that brave, you are like.. the perfect boyfriend Sam. I mean it."
Brandy softly let her hand slip from his, rushing to finish her meal before it got too cold to eat. By then, it was only luke-warm and Brandy pushed the eggs to the side. Nothing worse than luke-warm eggs.
"I guess the only thing left to do after breakfast is go to the duplex to pack my bags for a couple of nights. I don't want time to come too quickly, hard to believe the flight is only 14 hours away..."

"Apparently I am special enough for you to knee a guy twice your size in the nuts. Not just anybody would of been that brave, you are like.. the perfect boyfriend Sam. I mean it."
Sam flushed at the compliments. "I just did what most any man would do. My instincts kicked in and I did what I had to do." he grinned a little, "Shifter strength did help me from not getting my @ss beat."
"I guess the only thing left to do after breakfast is go to the duplex to pack my bags for a couple of nights. I don't want time to come too quickly, hard to believe the flight is only 14 hours away..."
This made Sam's grin fade quickly. He really didn't want to let her go. He sighed and pushed his plate in front of him. Appetite was gone. Pulling out his wallet he left money and a tip. "Wanna just head back?" he sighed softly. "If I only have you for that long, I'd rather do it at home than in some dingy buttf*ck truck stop."

"I just did what most any man would do. My instincts kicked in and I did what I had to do. Shifter strength did help me from not getting my @ss beat."
".. And I used my abilities to make sure he stayed down. We make a good team"
A good team, and a good looking team. Brandy and Sam had their own fair share of envious glances in that truck-stop restaurant that day. Brandy had glanced toward Sam's plate, he had barely touched his food and she felt bad about it.
"Wanna just head back?"
"Only if you finish the rest of your bacon, I feel like I worked hard for that extra bacon"
She pointed her fork at him, a serious look in her eyes. It was a playful moment though, that had been hovering beneath the "serious" expression.
"If I only have you for that long, I'd rather do it at home than in some dingy buttf*ck truck stop."
Brandy paused for a moment, and pushed the plate back toward him.
"Baaaccccoooooonnnnn"
Brandy stuck her tongue out at him as she stood up and ran her fingers through her hair. She had looked outside, and saw the guy they called Logan talking frantically to a paramedic. The look on the paramedic's face was priceless.
She thanked the heavens at that moment that she was a witch.
